Part of the A Dream of Tyranny Arc

Xzavior's Cabin

Xzavior ran his hand down the back of the wyvern hatchling who laid upon the couch next to him in slumber as Xzavior tore away at a book in the other hand. He had just came back to the cabin after visiting Pilar at the camp. It was an interesting conversation but hey, can't keep some secrets for long.

Desparrow was on his way from Kregus and several sessions with goblins whom wanted to take measurements of his form. The warlock walked through the town of Kelay and the forest to the door of Xzavior’s cabin. From the folds of his robe he withdrew his books before stepping into the cabin. The ice on his arm was still there, keeping his injury cool and safe while his back continued to mend. The burns on his leg still healed though he was here on a mission. “Friend, you are home.”

Xzavior looked to the door when he heard the voice on the other side and raised a brow. "It sounds like you're willing it to be true. You know I would be here." Moving away from the sleeping wyvern, who voices her discomfort with a growl, he opens the door for Desparrow and moves to let him in. Taking note of his lack of severe injuries that have been replaced by some more minor ones. "No one is going to come barge through my door to hunt you down now are they?" He joked with a smirk

Desparrow stepped in with a grin, “Not at all. You and I are both safe. I do have interest in you though. How is the mutation?” Of course he had come with a purpose, and seeing his first experiment, especially since the second one had died, progress was of the utmost importance. The book which had his recording of Xzavior and essentially his genome was in his hands now and turned to the proper page while he walked towards the man’s living area to take a seat. “I only ask because of the necessity for weapons in this time of war.”

Xzavior crossed his arms with a raised brow as Des made that last comment before chuckling, "Good to know I'm considered just a living armory. I haven't noticed anything. Mainly because I haven't been doing much for the past month or so. So if anything has changed I haven't a clue." He paused for a moment before carrying on. "Also be careful on your visits here from now on." He leans to the island to grab a letter before tossing it to Desparrow. Leifa, who had been laying on the couch, looked up from where she lay to see the newcomer and growled a bit. She was very wary of the lycan. He just didn't sit right with her. Sliding up behind the couch Xzavior placed a hand on her head to calm her down muttering something in elvish.

Desparrow nodded slowly, ignoring the infantile wyvern for the moment. “Well let’s take a look.” In his right hand he generated a small amount of magic and released a crimson bolt of fire magic towards the naga. He had no idea what would happen, but in the end whatever was the result greatly interested him. The bolt would do little, being a small blast projectile that would splash upon contact and create a small burn. At the same time he examined the pages of the book, noting the flow of magic he felt in Xzavior’s body, the magic with mutative properties implanted so long ago.

Xzavior watched as he formed the bolt. And before he shot it Xzavior went to ask as to what he was doing before it suddenly burst on the ground next to him. Hissing in disapproval, Leifa who jumped up in surprise. Flames wouldn't do much to him in the first place. His scales were naturally resistant to fire after all. But when the fire hit his scales an almost unnoticeable wave of purple washed out from the area of contact over the rest of his scales. Though it seemed to have left them the same over all. "Gods Des don't do that." Running his tail over the small bit of flames on his carpeted floor to snuff it out he frowned at Des.

Desparrow was watching closely the interaction of magic upon Xzavior’s body and the reaction of the blow sent a chill up the warlock’s spine. That wave of purple was at first peculiar but the result was phenomenal. The magic in all its entirety was deflected completely to no effect on the man’s body and instead the whole spell was tossed aside. He shot to a stand, walking towards the male and this time working a second spell, a small spark of lightning, harmless in the fact that it would only deliver a small shock. The spark was launched from his fingertip to the naga. If it had the same effect he would definitely make note of it. “I must see more!”

Xzavior scowled as he was completely ignored. But he had to live with it because he did say he was willing to deal with it. Well now he had to deal with it. When the small arc of lightning hit he felt a slight tingling and again another strip of color ran down his scales. A lime greenish color this time. Xzavior failed to notice this still, though Leifa did. Curious as she was to why this was happening she still didn’t like that Nix was being used as a test dummy. This lycan was just not liked by this little one at all it seemed. It can be assumed when she witnesses someone as brutish as him doing what he wants in her home and to her adoptive father.

Desparrow was ecstatic to witness the effects, “Xzavior! Its brilliant!” the mage was before the man and running his hands along the scales of his body. “You have no idea, but its marvelous!” at the touch he began to withdraw a sample of the magic attached to the very genetic code of the naga, the stuff he was implanted with originally. “Your body reflects fire and lightning.”

Xzavior looked at him confused for a moment, moving away from Des's hand as he moved it down his scales. "Reflective scales... Well as long as it isn't visible right?" Even with the joke he didn't look so amused. Not so keen on getting random bits of magic tossed his way. "Though it seems rather specific that it is only fire and lighting. Can't really test ice since I basically am ice but hey. I bet you that there's more than those two." He wasn't so inclined on testng that now. At least here. Not in his house. Fire or anything destructive kinda had a thing for destroying homes and he'd love to avoid that.

Desparrow didn’t think it would just be fire and lightning either though it would be just fine, with that shred of magic in his hand as a long ribbon curling about his hand. “It is okay, It is good enough. The magic is working and you are a success. This is just one of the things, there will be more. I must study this piece of you, and see if I can replicate it at all. If I can.. that means we can have an army that is capable of reflecting these base elements to the point that most magic against us will be pointless. This is a significant breakthrough.”

Xzavior wasn't too sure what to think other then this could both be useful and why was he supporting an army of mutants? Seemed rather dumb of him the more he thought about it. But what can you do when one of your friends is borderline insane yet extremely powerful. Who is offering you the same level of power. Exploitation? At some point Xzavior highly suspects one side is going to be pulling something. So far he has nothing in mind that he could use. "Our army? Well alright then."

Desparrow nodded as he dropped that ribbon of magic into his book before snapping it shut. “Indeed. Together we will shake the throne of god, the halls of heaven will quake in our presence.” It may seem insane, and he may very well be genuinely crazy, but at the same time he believed every word he spoke. Each day his wounds improved, and his magic grew and with it he would start to create more mutation subjects. There would be an army to build and he had ideas on just how to do it. Wolves took time and he needed something now.

Xzavior gave a silent 'Aramoth forgive me.' with a slight roll of his eyes before smirking and heading to the kitchen to grab something to drink. "Well I don't need to have the halls fall at my presence but I can't deny that it sounds rather enticing. But you have to ask. Who are we going to be stepping over and what's the risk. Cause you already lost the assistance of the healers guild. And as far as I know just letting you be here is warrant for my immediate removal of it." Can't blame someone who has been lying their whole life to not worry about risks and possibilities.

Desparrow raised his fist, “We will step on anyone that gets in the way! The risk is of course death but with my plans, and our allies we will not fail. The healer’s guild will be nothing, Sabrina will heal me if I demand her. I don’t know of anyone else in it, though if necessary we will take them captive. Though if you wish to have no surface involvement, then I will not involve you in the slightest. In fact I must be going but I will not leave through the door.” He slashed open a gateway. “Any last words before I depart?”

Xzavior shook his head. Not to say he didn't have anything to say. But the fact he was willing to just up and kidnap people just to heal him. And for the fact that Xzavior highly doubted that Sabs would heal him because he demanded it. Who does he think made the decision to say no in the first place. Waving him off though he said, "I meant I can't really be seen with you. Other then that there isn't much stopping me."

Desparrow had little left to say. “Do not worry about what Sabrina thinks. She will see things differently when I speak with her. I will not harm her, in fact it will be quite the opposite. No worries, you may remain acting in the shadows.” With that he stepped through the gate and vanished.
