RP:Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum, Selling a Wolf for the Price of a Plum

Hunters' Market

Daisy doesn't look like much of a hunter. Truth be told, she doesn't look like much of anything! But sometimes when facing the land of frosty maws, there are dangers to be had. Dangers in the form of wolves who don't like it very much when you wander into their dens looking for shelter from blizzards. The kitten would have left! She didn't want to intrude! The wolf didn't have to attack her. But it did. So sad days are sad and a girl can eat or be eaten. There on Mamoru's back is a bundle of wolf, wrapped up in frozen vines. Hopefully someone here will be able to use it. "Excuse me?" Nothing. "Pardon..." No one. "If I could..." Maybe if you looked more like a trapper, kitten, someone would see you.

Svilfon wanders into the Hunters' Market with a lazy grace, made possible only because most of his body is hidden beneath the languid folds of his fur-lined wizard robes. Even still, he looks in good shape; hat is pointy, beard is... beard-y... and the jovial grin on his lips seems a natural expression on the vampire, even if it does show those unnatural gaps in his teeth. It is mostly an illusion, though; a mask worn throughout Frostymaws when the city of war's resident wizard is exhausted beyond belief. But tearing a hole in the fabric of Hollow so people can rescue a trapped gladiator ripped at the wizard's very soul, forcing him to draw on more magic than he should have... leaving him exhausted, though better each day that passes. Nevertheless, he hears Daisy's words as he spies her, and with a quick throat clearing he speaks in a loud voice, "They will not listen, lady druid, unless you make them. Like this..." Svil pulls back the sleeve on one of his robed arms, revealing next to his wrist a small whistle. Putting it in his mouth, he blows long and loud, and though Daisy wouldn't hear a thing, nor would the couatl, all the giants stop what they're doing and turn to glare at the wizard. He grins as he slips the whistle back in his sleeve, before speaking to them. "You have a customer." He motions to druid. "Since this is no longer an illegal business, you guys really should learn about looking after them." The giants grin at the wizard. He grins back, finding equal amusement. Before one of the large Frostmawian Citizens moves forward, bends down and looks at Daisy, "What have you to sell, wearer of the Snowstar crown."

Daisy does not expect to see her wizard friend today! She is glad he came along though. Things always seem to happen when he's around. Sometimes the things are dancingful and happy and sometimes the things are horrifically terrifying, but the things are always things of great happenings and this pleases the kitten and her general like for doing things no matter what kind they are. And now everyone is looking at you. Every. One. She swallows, blinking those wide eyes of hers. A faint whisper of a voice escapes her lips as she stares at the large citizen bending at her. Even so close, he won't hear you, kitten. She looks back at Mamoru and then up at Svilfon and then at the citizen again with a lick of her lips. "I have a wolf." Not just the pelt or tail or foot. But a whole wolf.

Svilfon joins the giant in laughing, though the sound is not at all malicious or mocking. Both wizard and shopkeeper find equal amusement in the kitten's quiet speaking - such a contradiction to how both Svil and the giants always are - as well as her admission of having an entire wolf. As both quieten down, the giant speaks again in a voice which sounds like a rumbling avalanche, "Usually, little keeper of our queen's garden, I would not accept an entire wolf. Only its pelt, perhaps its teeth." He flashes his own at the druid as he speaks those words, "But for you, I shall make an exception. Name your price." The wizard moves a touch to be leaning against one of the room's wooden walls, watching the exchange between the kitten and giant, and still occasionally snickering. He does enjoy the company of Daisy; she's like a flower standing tall on a battlefield stained with blood and death, hatred and agony... None of it will stain her, or stop her brightening up the harsh landscape with nothing but her presence. It's a quality he likes in the druid very much, as he's sure the giants do too.

Daisy smiles despite not knowing what is so funny about having a wolf. People have wolves all the time, don't they? Of course they do. This wouldn't be a place of bringing wolves if a place for having wolves wasn't a needed thing. "Just its..." She steps up to the wolf and pets a single finger along his ear. The eyes are closed and his tongue lols out like some sort of happy dream is being had. What would you do with only the fur and teeth? What happens to the rest of it. The tongue is carefully placed inside before she closes his mouth. There. That is better. "He was very brave and fought very hard." Which is more important than any gold amount. "How much is that worth?" She looks up at Svilfon as if he should know. Wizards know everything.

Svilfon cocks a single brow, though its hidden beneath the brim of his wondiferous hat, before he replies, "Frostmaw is a place where only the strong and brave survive. Some would say you should eat the wolf's heart, to carry that braveness with you always and honour your fallen adversary." The wizard's eyes get a slightly faraway look for a moment, before with a slight shake of his head he carries on. "As for its worth, the bravery or the meat?" He grins. "That is for you to decide, lady druid." His pale eyes shift between the giant and the kitten, both who now look at him. "He left it up to you." The wizard motions to the large shopkeeper. "Would not be right for me to say." He tips his hat at that, and offers the druid a last smile.

Daisy does not want to cheapen the wolf's honor! That would be most unkind and she would like to see the fur and meat go to good use rather than just waste away in the frozen lands. That was her whole purpose of bringing it here in the first place. "I think..." She looks to Mamoru, who is just bored and really would prefer to be out flying around rather than carrying a dead wolf who deserved to die for attacking his precious ward. Kitten eyes wander over to how much he gets the pelts for. Oh! Oh that isn't very much at all. Well the meat should help, if that is something he can sell. And the teeth, for whatever they are used for. "I think... Ten gold." The wolf's nose is given a pet. "And I would like to keep the heart, please."

Svilfon nods silent approval as the giant speaks. "I would pay that much for the wolf's weight in fruit, which is not as worthwhile as meat..." Typical giant mentality, "...even if you take its heart. I will give you twenty gold. Ten for our agreed upon price, and ten for your honouring of the wolf's memory." The giant stands and wanders back to his counter, before pulling out from beneath it a small pouch filled with the gold coins he uses when dealing with the smaller citizens of Frostmaw. Quickly money is counted, despite it appearing small in the giant's massive grasp, before he returns to the druid and offers her the money with one hand, while extending the other for a shake, to seal the deal - something which causes the wizard to wander closer... just because he wants to see a small kitten shake hands with a massive giant. Speaking on behalf of the shopkeeper, the vampire asks Daisy, "Do you wish to remove it yourself, or should I?" Even as he's speaking, he undoing the straps which keep the wolf on Mamoru's back, before, with a grunt of exertion, he takes the wolf's weight and with two quick steps, walks close enough to place it gently on another counter stained sanguine with the blood of other animals. "And hi to you, Mamoru. I see you there... hard to miss you anywhere! I see you're still growing quicker than your siblings. Emiur would be proud."

Daisy smiles and is glad the giant is fair. "Maybe I will come back with fruit." Considering it is far easier for her to come by fruit than wolves, her change purse would be quick to grow heavy in these parts. The money is taken and tucked away, before the handshaking can take place. She blinks at the giant's mitt and places both tiny paws on one finger. Her arms go all the way up and then back down again two times - a proper handshake if there ever was one. Deal done, she tots over there beside Svilfon, peeking over the counter with just her eyes since that is about all she is tall enough to do. "Will you, please?" Mostly because she would have to get up on the counter to do it and most people don't like it when cats jump on their counters. Mamoru is glad to have the wolf off his back and extra glad to get the praise. He lifts his chin a little higher, pleased to hear of making Emiur proud.

Svilfon finds much amusement in the handshake which seals the deal between frost giant and kitten, though he must admit it was a very proper handshake if ever he's seen one! Most impressive. The giant grins at the kitten, offers the wizard a brief salute - fist on his chest - before returning to his place behind the counter. Svilfon, on the other hand, nods his head to the druid, "I will. Now..." He taps a finger against his chin while he looks over the various knives stored on the counter, before waggling his fingers at one. It lifts up and floats into his grasp. With a nod, the vampire wastes little time in carefully cutting through the wolf's skin on its chest, before he thrusts his free hand right into the body, and with a skill that shows his vampiric nature, he soon pulls out a scarlet-stained hand holding the proud beast's heart. He offers it to Daisy after putting down the knife, even as he grins at both the kitten, and the proud gestures of her guardian couatl... a gesture that seems common amongst all Emiur and Lin's children... couatls! Vainer than a snowkit on her birthday.

Daisy is very glad Svilfon offered to do that! All that blood would be such a mess in her fur. As it is, she is already going to need a good bath after handling just the heart. Deed done, she takes the large organ in both very small paws and holds it up to her nose. "Do I eat it like this?" Maybe there is a form of cooking to be had. Never has the kitten eaten a raw heart before. Does cooking cheapen the ceremony? Do not mess this up, kitten! That giant gave you ten gold just because you're being honorable.

Svilfon cannot help but laugh again, the sound rich with genuine good humour. "You're asking a vampire the best way to eat a bloodied heart?" He grins at her, and be it the light or a mere trick of the mind, his fangs seem even more prominent than usual. "Yes, lady druid, you eat it like that. You do not have to consume the whole thing... just some of the meat and some of its life blood... and in doing so, part of its indomitable, proud spirit will be shared with you. At least, that is what they say." He grins again, and resists the urge to lick his hand clean. It would not be right for him to do so, even though the smell of the blood fills his senses. But he has enough will power to ignore it now, much better than when he was first sired.

Daisy does feel silly now that he puts it to her that way. She pokes out her little tongue and lightly laps up a bit of the blood. Hm. It isn't so bad. Kind of metallic, in fact. This isn't exactly the sort of ceremony she is used to! Spirits being shared usually comes with meditation and some time in the forest. Not... heart nomming. "Is it rude to the wolf to share with a friend?" A deep breath is taken and she has a bite, jutting her chin out a little so the blood dripping down doesn't get on her cloak.

Svilfon nods, "It is yours alone to eat." He stands there quietly while she does, watching her take the first tentative bite, his face somewhat solemn, though hints of enjoyment does linger in the depths of his pale gaze. The giant behind the counter, as well as other customers, all grow silent as she bites into it, before, with nods shared amongst themselves, they return to haggling over the price of fur, or debating whether or not it is wise to sell their products to the remaining elf exiles, simply because they don't have much gold to pay. The bustle returns, and with it, Svil speaks again. "In truth, lady druid, it was not merely the whims of capricious Gods which brought me here today while you were in this building. I have been looking for you." That's not actually true... he found her the moment he started looking, but Svil sometimes thinks it's best not to let people know how easy it is for him to appear out of nowhere around them. Even people like Daisy. Nevertheless, he carries on, "I had something I wish you to aid me with in a few days... do you remember the sapling we left on the roots of the Xalious Tree?"

Daisy has kind of lost herself in the consumption of that heart. It is good. Not the kind of delicious that a cookie or a just ripened mango tend to be. No. It is the kind of satisfying that goes unexplained for ages while being enjoyed for only a moment. "For me?" She blinks up at Svilfon while taking another bite. Gosh, this is messy! Next time she shall invest in a bowl and maybe a knife and fork of some sort. And that sapling? Yes. Yes she remembers it quite well. "I do. And I will." Of course she is more than willing to help the wizard with anything he might need assistance with! Another bite is taken and suddenly the kitten is quite full. She looks down at the half eaten heart and then around the marketplace a bit. Seems a bit rude to just dump the heart in a trash bin. Blood on her mouth, she grins sheepishly up at her friend with a whisper. "What do I do with this?"

Svilfon nods at her first words and speaks while she chews, “I am glad. Too tired I am today to cast the magic I intend, but a few more days of rest and I'll be ready... I wish to finish imbuing the weapon with its power, but the sapling still lives... and I wish it to remain living. If I did the spell myself, it would be a more formidable weapon, but it would no longer be alive. I would rather the aid of a druid, to preserve the piece of Frostmaw which will undoubtedly aid me... and I thought to myself, what better druid than Daisy?” He grins at those words, before chuckling at her whispered question, one which he replies to in equally hushed tones, “Bury it, usually. Perhaps where the wolf died.” He nods at that, and once more his gaze gets somewhat faraway, before he focuses again on the kitten. “I would offer to take you there, but I have other tasks I must complete this day. But you are a druid, in tune with nature... bury it with the thoughts of the wolf in your mind. No greater honour can you do to a fallen opponent than that.” He nods, grins once more, before reaching his unbloodied hand out and wiping some of the dripping blood from her chin. “It's a wonder us vampires keep our clothes clean at all!”

Daisy holds still while her chin is wiped. That is a perfect idea. A burial. If not the wolf's body, but his soul. How kind of that giant there to hand her a handkerchief from his pocket. Looks more like a bedsheet to Daisy. Well maybe not that big, but still big enough. Well beggars and choosers are never the same thing so a little thanks is offered as she wipes her hands and face. The heart is neatly wrapped up and tucked inside that bag of everything the druid carries around so it may be given a proper burial. "Some of the best weapons are still alive." And she smiles at the compliment since she is sure there are better druids than herself. "When?"

Svilfon offers a brief grin to the giant that hands Daisy his way-too-large handkerchief for her to wipe herself down with... Eating hearts is a messy business, after all, but the deceased wizard is sure they'd not be as fun to eat if they were tidy... but maybe that's just a mixture of his nature and his curse. Or perhaps, like a child with ice-cream, he just likes to stuff his face! Let's go with the first, it sounds more fitting of his station within the city. Either way, he nods to her last few words, agreeing entirely. “My Xalious wand still lives, and never a more powerful weapon have I found... as for when...” The wizard takes a moment to look out into the cloud-covered sky, “Two days, Daisy. We will leave early, for where we must go is further away than Xalious and I cannot teleport us there... it will require power I need for the spells. So perhaps you can ride Mamoru? I'll bring Alahir – he's wanted to take me on a proper flight for quite a while now, and I think he's ready. We can fly to... where we must go... then finish the business of making the weapon, perhaps enjoy something to eat and a swim, then return to Frostmaw.” He nods at that, and grins. “A fine way to spend a day.”

Daisy holds her paws out to the side. Wolf sold? Check. Heart eaten? Check. Blood cleaned up? Eh. Mostly check. She'll need a bit of soap and water to get it out of her fur, but that can be gotten elsewhere. Plans. Day plans with the wizard! Oh those do sound nice. Maybe she'll pack a lunch for them. Or just grow them a lunch. What does her friendly wizard vampire eat? Is it polite to bring a person? 'Pardon me? Would you mind comimg with us for lunch. What are we having? Oh, you of course.' Sweet kitten smiles get you practically everything, but that might not work so well. Mamoru loves the idea of flying somewhere far away, especially alongside one of his siblings. He butts his head up against Svilfon's side in approval. "It is a date." Daisy drops her paws with a smile.

Svilfon has brought along a live person to a party before, for something to snack on. Damn priest was a nightmare, telling us all the Gods were going to spite us. By Sven's balls, the wizard would swear he did all of Hollow a favour removing that person from his mortal coil. But, distractions of dinners aside, the wizard nods and grins, “A date it is, lady druid.” The wizard tips his hat, after giving the couatl an affectionate pat on his head. “Meet me in Frostmaw's Tavern, two days, bright and early! I'll have Drargon prepare us some breakfast, then off we can go.” The wizard grins at that, before offering the other giants in the room a tip of his hat also. “For now, I must finish my work. Fare well, Daisy Druid. A fine thing you did this day.” The wizard nods at that before vanishing from the room, leaving in his wake nothing but a thin tendril of smoke which soon would lazily fade away.
