Part of the Saurian Onslaught Arc

Summary: While seeking out the closest location that might serve as the venue for KhittiBrand's wedding, Khitti and Meri happen upon a small family of Razurath, and find out that more of the same saurians had settled outside of Venturil in various areas nearly a year ago, in order to escape the unfortunate goings-on in Venturil.

The Scattered Trees, Cenril

"Okay be very careful, honey, while my math maybe be accurate your constant tweaking is going to be a safety hazard." Came the voice of a mud colored anthro raptor, ie razurath, who held a small cylinder in his hand like pencil as it a light from one end continued to cut into the stone cube he was working on. "Cecil, come on, when have I ever changed the game plan on you, how many times has it even gone horribly wrong?" Said the Blue colored anthro raptor, for which both such wore a black multithread full bodied suit which slipped over their bodies and tails leaving their hands and heads exposed. Cecil groaned sticking two claws in his mouth and blowing causing a young human girl to get up from a log, and skip over, "Daddy is mommy in one of her curious moods?" Cecil shook his head and ruffled her bronze hair, "No Alice, its worse, she is one of her inventive moods." He said, "which means, your going to need to stick by me in this time of crisis, because your daddy can take a couple of blows." He said with his brown eyes on her eager face. "Okay we know the drill on three, you put your hand on and focus your mana on it, right?" Cecil looked at his wife Pepper, and then looked back at his daughter who whispered against the side of his head, "Oh yes totally excited." Picking her up and holding her out to stone, Alice place her hands on the object and closed her eyes the mana being pushed into the objected until the runes glowed. Then he pulled her back and ran back a bit of distance and got behind a rock, and waited. While his wife who seemed oblivious to danger of the object, had her notebook ready while a another blue and green spotted Razurath looked on with notebook and pencil in hand. "Darcy take notes in case i get blown back." The multicolored razurath cocked a brow. "Yes miss."

Khitti || “I have no idea where I want this wedding at, Meri. Maybe Rynvale? I heard there’s a place, near where we stole that leviathan tooth, where you can see volcanic activity. I think Brand might like it there.” Khitti led Meri from the bakery where they’d met up, to a place she’d found next to what’d once been Elioyahazer’s home. “There’s this place too. Lots of trees. Next to the arena. Brand saved up enough that we could likely get anywhere that’s not open to the public.” The two wandered past the arena and into the scattered trees, as Khitti scribbled out venue options on a small notepad she carried. “Venturil is out of the question--even if I wanted to go there, it’s not happening with this blockade thing. Frostmaw’s too cold. Chartsend is okay… but too far away from home for even the smallest amount of catering. Larket is… an almost literal trash fire. Kelay… I see it enough times a week that I’d rather not have it there. This spot would be different though, even if I’m in Cenril more than anywhere else. It’s out of the way and home and the bakery is nearby if we forget to bring anything. Buuut, I dunno.” The redhead motioned around with one hand, “The space doesn’t need to be huge. It’s not like it’s going to be like Alvina and Hudson’s wedding but--” Khitti stopped and blinked at the razurath as they went about their business. “Uhhh.” The last time Khitti’d seen a razurath was years ago now, back when the Warrior’s Guild was much more active. Had the saurians spoke back then? She couldn’t quite remember. She’d been there for the final battle and well… that ended with a near death experience for vampire-Khitti in the form of a holy magic light show. Things had been hectic then. All she remembered was that there’d been ghosts too, as there so often is in northern Venturil.

Meri smirks when Khitti describes a wedding where one can see the volcanic activity in the background. For the most part, Meri is listening to Khitti's ideas but it is obvious which suggestions Meri agrees with or disagrees with. She makes a face at the thought of a Venturil wedding. The face intensifies at the mention of Chartsend or Frostmaw. About the only two locations that Meri is not making weird faces about are Cenril and Rynvale, and Meri is definitely more enthused about the Rynvale prospect than anything Cenril has to offer. Meri does not have a chance to fully put her thoughts to word for Khitti's benefit. As they are exploring potential venue options, Khitti and Meri happen upon a strange sight. What the heck are these razurath doing? Odd indeed. Meri does not blaze forward to demand answers, but the werwolf does not exactly make her presence a secret either. In this exact moment, Meri does not see the point. She stares blatantly at the family, hoping that further observation might be bring clarity to what these particular individuals are currently up to.

At first nothing seemed to happen as the cube sat glowing, then the air distorted around the top of the cube, and then out of thin dropped two inches from the top rune onto the stone round shaped object. "Thats it?" Came alice' voice. Cecil stood up and saw the glow intensify from beneath the cube and then the rock fragmented and exploded, not big mind you but enough to send the pieces 20' out wards in all direction one hitting Pepper in the chest knocking her off her feet, causing her to roll into a tree. The round object also exploding with noticable loud pop, as it turned out to be a three foot wide popcorn. Cecil stood up not even looking to see if his mate was okay and carefully trodded around the wreckage as the mixed colored razurath nearby was jotting notes, before look up. "Cecil, we got people watching." People namely being khitti, but not meri, at least not yet. "Cecil looked up, as his wife Pepper rolled ot her feet. "Astounding if we only had used granite we might have been able to keep the stone instead of the mana overloading it!" Cecil looked at his wife for a second, and then motioned for Alice to go try to talk sense into mommy. Walking up near to the human(s) he motioned with hand. "Sorry about that, I wasn't aware that my Mate had decided to make the kernal pop as well." Cecil said standing a good 6 and a half feet tall, and at least ten feet from them. "Just some family experimentation, a good break from building a houses for an evening."

Khitti’d lost her words once her and Meri had happened upon the saurian. It still took quite a bit before she found them again, thanks to those giant kernels of popcorn. “I--uh.” Wait. She’s still not quite there yet. “I mean, it’s not the popcorn experiment that’s shocking. I’ve done enough of my own that didn’t quite go to plan, some of which my sister here can vouch for.” There she goes. Good job, Khitti. You can do the talking thing again. “My surprise comes from the fact that a bunch of razurath are all the way over here in Cenril.” Cenril -was- a big city after all. It was feasible that they’d be under the radar, much like Zahrani’s Isran Collective tried to be at times. Okay, Khitti. Don’t mention that you killed some razurath a while ago. Don’t say it. That would be bad. Especially in front of the kid. “I’d only just recently heard of… some sort of an uprising in Venturil, but I didn’t really think it was true. Last I knew, your kind was gone.” Good, good. You might survive this conversation yet.

Meri really is not sure how to react to the sight that is unfolding. An oversized piece of popcorn? Well then. This Cecil approaches. Well by the looks of things, Cecil is approaching mostly Khitti. Meri seems to be flying under the radar, though she is not entirely sure how. She's standing right next to Khitti and the two were engaged in a conversation, granted Meri might not have been doing the talking. It may be for the best that most of the focus is on Khitti right now. Well, maybe Khitti would not agree. But the red head has already pretty accurately voiced anything that Meri might contribute to the conversation. Which Meri was fine with. Khitti could be the nice one, doing the talking, and asking all of the questions...while Meri stood next to her and assumed a no nonsense expression. The werewolf was not even close to intimidated by the height of Cecil. Her stoic stance and expression should not be confused for an aggressive one. If things turn hostile, Meri is not going to be the one starting the trouble.

Cecil looked between Khitti and Meri, now noting to himself he had fixated on one person and failed to look at the big picture. "Sorry for not noticing you before, I unlike my mate, sometimes get fixated on one situtation or person at a time. No harm done i hope." He turned back to Khitti, "Well, as far as I am aware, from what was shared when i Hatched sixteen months ago, the event with the Warriors guild was against a team of dark Razurath, and possibly their leader, I apologize sincerely on my peoples behalf for that, Dark Razurath are at the mercy of their Carnal instincts more so than the rest of our kind, its something we are actively trying to reverse." He turned his head as the Pepper was critizing Darcy over her scribbled noted in audibly because of the distance between them. Like the werewolf Cecil was a bit of stoic, so he wasn't intimated either. "Yes moving to Cenril a year ago was primarily to escape the vast cultural change, when you go from tribes with indiviual chiefs to an a dictator with council in little under a year, it does make for a rapidly changing environment. "and Alice, our adopted girl, her parents... ought not be entitled to her, and it was best we leave venturil . Besides, I like it here, a city always growing, probably wanting a builder, and i wanna see about making some tall buildings. Since we likely can't get more space out here." He cracked a satisfied smile at that. Not a toothy one but a sensible one like a man who enjoys what he does best. "We don't bite, please, would you like to meet the family?"

Khitti || “So I noticed,” Khitti said with regards to the dark razurath. “The situation was only made worse by the fact that the spirits in that part of Venturil weren’t happy either.” She scratched the back of her head awkwardly, side-eyeing Meri in a ‘how does this sort of thing always happen to us?’ kind of way. “Yes. There’s been plenty of dictators around here. Best to stay away from Larket too.” The mention of meeting Cecil’s family was mentioned and Khitti shrugged, “Sure. Uh, I’m Khitti and this is Meri, by the way,” she said, motioning to the blonde at her side. “You only having been here a year makes sense, though. I’ve, uh, been pretty busy the last year so I’ve just not noticed, I guess. The city is huge, like you just said. And if you’re building things, I guess there’s not much in the way of space and might as well build up.” Khitti offered a faint smile, “If you do end up getting around to building things here, Meri’s got an art gallery on the same street as the shops. Her artwork could be useful for decorating! And I’ve got a bakery down there as well… and a guildmember of mine, Zahrani, her and her feline family know their way around the marketplace near the beach really well, in case if you have trouble with the stall owners there.” She wait for him to lead them over to his family, occasionally eyeing that big piece of popcorn--Khitti really needed to get back to doing her own experiments at some point. It’d been far too long.

Meri responds to Cecil's apology with a nonchalant shrug. If there was one thing that Meri did not take much offense to, it was not being noticed. It was amazing what one could learn when they're not being noticed, or when people think that they are not being watched. Cecil seems thus far to be forthright with why he and his family are here in Cenril. Khitti was sending a look Meri's direction, and Meri was doing the same with Khitti. Just for completely different reasons. Khitti was wondering why these sort of strange encounters always happen with them, and Meri is quite typically wondering if they could trust everything that they were being told. Did this family really come here with no ill intentions? "Yeah. What Khitti said. Building up is really about the only choice that Cenril has at this point in time. It's not like the population of the city is getting smaller...And yeah, what Khitti said. I've got an art gallery. Good for decorations." Much like Khitti, when Cecil leads the way to his family then Meri will also follow. Said family will be greeted with a smile and a lazy half-salute once Meri is close enough to do so properly.

Cecil nodded, "Pleasure, my name is Cecil." He said and then walking with them over to see his mate, who was for a second seemed oblivious and then was upfront and personal. "Hi so nice to meet you khitti and meri, its a pleasure, hey I have a ageing rune on me somewhere works great for wine lemme see if I can find it, i boost the efficiency by 12% in the last hour, and if you give me another hour I might be able to boost it too 24%." Pepper said talking a mile a minute causing cecil to nod and smile and nod, and said to her, "Why don't you go finish your design on the solution the cube at question first." He turned and looked back them, "My Mate is many things, social cues and learning to slow down are not one of them, my apologies." Then alice strolled up clutching her father's leg, and wearing a large smile. "This is Alice our adopted daughter," He said hugging her shoulder with his hand. "She is also the one who activates the runes in the family, its not my instictive purpose to know why we can make runes so quickly, but why we can't activate them, but our family would be useless without this youngster." He said with a smile, "This is Darcy, she is a friend of the family and the mate of Plum, he is in town and sleeping something he has enjoyed getting to do since he moved here." Darcy smiled and nodded her head. "A pleasure to meet you both, I am the note taker." She said. Cecil nodded and then looked back at them taking a seat on a stump. "Well I can appreciated art, so I know I will be stopping by there, but my mate, oh she loves her sweets, and its not surprising with the energy she has," He shrugged his shoulders, "I have heard the name Zahrani before, its a feline colony, very kind people." He added. "Well I haven't heard any word from the Larket colony of Razurath, I am not sure how they are doing, and the Frostmaw group I know is doing well, at least some miners, though, they are loyalists though." He srhugged again. "well so long as your dictators aren't power hungry, and conquer happy, I think we might get along just fine, Order is prefered to chaos, but i digress, something we tell alot of people who ask is that, we are on the side of order, we love our ducks in a row." Alice again scampered up with the huge popcorn kernal. "Popcorn?" she asked offering.

Khitti || If Meri brought up her concerns with regards to these specific razurath, Khitti would not argue. There had been trouble in the past, even if Meri’d not yet been a part of the Warrior’s Guild’s antics then, and now there seemed to be even more stirring up in Venturil. For now, though, Khitti played the role of careful diplomat, doing her best to treat the saurians with respect for the time being, while remaining cautiously skeptical of their being in Cenril. Pepper’s words came out of her mouth like a whirlwind and suddenly Khitti felt a pang of guilt for Meri--how many times had the blonde endured Khitti’s own frantic mutterings of magic-related revelations and explanations? Far too many to count, to be sure. She bobbed her head along to female’s rantings, trying hard to hide a smirk, “It’s alright. I’m quite the same when I get excited about something.” A wave is offered to their adopted daughter, and another to Darcy, before addressing those mentions of razurath in other parts of Lithrydel. “The dictators I speak of are in Larket, unfortunately. They’re cruel tyrants that don’t care an ounce for anyone but themselves.” She sighed, then shrugged, “But if your relatives have hidden themselves away well enough like you have, I’m sure they’ll be fine. The Larket monarchy’s target has been witches for quite awhile now.” She shook her head to the offer of popcorn, offering Alice a smile, “No thank you. It’s getting close to when I’ve got to make dinner for my own family… and pretty much everyone else on the ship I live on.” Khitti didn’t seemed bothered by this though--she’d been doing it for well over a year after all.

Meri makes a cross-eyed expression when Pepper starts talking about aging wine at a more rapid rate. It's right at this point that Meri decides that she will not be consuming anything offered by this family. Pepper might be trying to age the wine, but might accidentally age a Meri instead. It's not a far-fetched assumption, the oversized piece of popcorn tells Meri that it is not an unlikely prospect at all. Meri is about as enthused about Pepper's rantings as she is with Khitti's -- it's just not Meri's field of expertise and thus most magical related ramblings just ended up going in one ear and out the other. Thankfully Cecil puts a stop to the notion of aged wine. A smirk is issued when Zahrani is described as a feline colony, nice people indeed. "Ah. Zahrani is the name of but one feline, not an entire feline colony." Meri's response to the offer of popcorn is much the same as Khitti's. "Aye, what she said. Dinnertime with the family is coming up." In her case that meant she was going to go home and tend to Fleur's food, who is not yet eating the same things that her adult mother is quite yet. By the time Meri has taken care of that, she'll probably just take the lazy route with her own meal. Still, magically created popcorn would not be on the menu for tonight.

Cecil nodded, "Well, I am not much of fan of popcorn either, I am more MitsFruit type of guy, as is most Razurath, but who knows, maybe sometime we can defintly meet up again, perhaps at a time, when my mate is not in one of her moods." He said glancing over at his "mate" who was writing with both hands and both of her feet as her tail alone held her up like a stool. "Well, I won't keep you, It was pleausure to meet you, and Zahrani's not a colony oops, well No doubt Plum can give me another lesson on these things." He said before moving his hand to a pocket and slipping out a card, "Here you can find me and the small razurath colony here at this location in cenril." He said and handed two cards out one to khitti and to meri. (Card: Corner of Intersection and Merchant Street, Room 603)

Khitti grinned at Meri and her explanation about Zahrani and her family, “It’s fine, I’m sure. There’s enough going on in this city that it can all get pretty confusing. Maybe some time in the future you can meet her--a couple of her kin work at my bakery now too, so maybe you’ll see them there.” Her attention shifted from the Cecil over to his woman, to which Khitti gave a tilt of her head and blinked a few times. The gears started turning in her own mind, but she’d not voice them until her and Meri left. Khitti took her card from Cecil, then nodded, shoving it into her pocket. “Alright. Well, if you need anything, my shops just down the street from there. And if I’m not there, then my employees’ll point you in the right direction.” Meri was given another look, as if to ask if she were ready to go. When she was, she’d offer Cecil and his family a wave before turning back towards the direction they came from. Once they were far enough away, Khitti leaned over to Meri and whispered, “Did you see her?! I’m jealous at how much more efficient she is with her research. I don’t think Brand would like it if I managed to find a way to give myself a tail though.” Oh well. Khitti will have to find other ways to keep many things done at once--she managed it at least when it came to cooking.

Meri :: The card that Cecil offers is accepted. Meri's actions with the card almost closely mirror Khitti's, except Meri pauses a moment to take a gander at the details of the card. Room 603. They had a razurath colony all packed into a room? Or maybe Pepper had worked some of that weird magic stuff she and Khitti were into on the place? Enabling more room in less space? Wait. Why is she even thinking that deeply about this stuff. Maybe she is actually listening to Khitti's research ramblings more than she pretends too be. Shhh. Don't tell Khitti. Speaking of Khitti, the look that her sister gives her is met with a nod. She is indeed ready to go. The conversation that Khitti starts up once they are out of earshot earns the red head a hard roll of the eyes and a sigh. "Why do you even want a tail...If you give yourself a furry tail, I am never going to let you live it down. Like that is a fetish level that you and Brand really just don't need to go to. And before you try and bring it up, yes I have a tail. But only sometimes. So it doesn't count, okay?" Meri's not exactly managed to learn to be the friendliest during those sometime moments yet anyway. #werewolfproblems
