RP:Draconic Adolescence

From HollowWiki

Synopsis: Aira, Lanara, Scandal, and Zahrani all meet at the location where Orikahn and Eirik would have fought. After introductions and small talk, Scandal suddenly wanders off, feeling strange. Zahrani and Lanara, concerned for their mutual friend, follow him, with Aira begrudgingly in tow.

At the Frozen Trees

Scandal could not find a place to sit away from where he what he was seeing, so having left frostmaw he had come to a forest of frozen trees while heavy snowfall fell. Changing as quick as he could to his largest form, and his natural form, he curled up and closed his eyes. In mere minutes the storm passed, and now there was simply a large mountain of snow, hiding him completely, minus for of course those who could sense him.

Zahrani is covered in her cloak, the feline following the dragon's scent and foot prints. She stops at an unusually mountainous snowpile, her head tilting to the side. She wasn't sure whether or not she should yell out his name. The hunting grounds are a dangerous place.

Aira begrudgingly followed Lanara towards the trees and the dragon friend of hers. She was still scowling, still had her arms tightly around her stomach. Thankfully, it seemed that the trio were headed in the direction of the lodge. If need be she could head home to grab her weapons. Lanara is only about twenty feet behind Zahrani, and trudges through the snow at Aira’s side. She had drug the fox-elf along for the journey, merely because she held a fondness for the woman, and because she couldn’t just let Scandal wander off, when he was not right in the head. A black wolf trots way ahead of the rescue group, and he cocks his leg to mark his territory, on a mounting pile of snow. Through the blinding snowfall, Lana narrows her eyes and sees a shoe sticking out, through the stained snow. “Scandal! Krystan found him!”

Needless to say Scandal could hear his name, however the shoe wasn't his, No that shoe and the body attached belonged to a Frost Drake who having heard some one shout came out of its hole to investigate and to see if his supper was going to be more of feast. The Mountain of snow though near to the mound was, well to put it frankly one could not see the top of it, nor could they see just how large it was. Scandal however having heard his name opened his eyes which of course caused two 100' wide red iris eyes to appear staring between the recent arrivals and the Frost drake. The eyes look between the two and roll, thrusting out a long forked tongue, scandal bats the frost drake away from the group. "Go away brunch."

Zahrani, with a fluid motion, had drawn her crossbow from over her shoulder when she saw the Frost Drake appear. Her face is neutral as she stands between it and the other two women, her eyes widening as she saw it swished away like a bug. She turns towards the other two women, then the paladin backs up at the massive red and black dragon that had emerged from the snow. She recognizes him immediately, but she hopes the fox-elf doesn't panic too much. "Scandal. What are you feeling right now? You can tell us." She isn't sure how honest the dragon would be. Aira instinctively reaches behind her back to grasp an nonexistent arrow and curses under her breath in elven when she remembers that she left her bow at home. A knife is quickly drawn from her hip as she moves to stand beside Zahrani as opposed to behind (there was only one feline she would allow to protector her). Aira continues her scowling as the drake is brushed aside like a flake of snow before her unblinking, copper eyes land on the dragon. She wasn’t afraid of dragons, she just wasn’t fond of them.

Lanara stands there, wide-eyed, and unlike the other two women, she doesn’t wield a weapon or shiedl, of any sort. The witch rarely had need of such things, and if she were in danger, well, then she’d be screwed, she supposed. So, she eyes the drake with boredom, before she flicks her hues to rest on Scandal, in his dragon form. She’d seen him in this state, only days before, and she knew he wasn’t a threat. “Scan… What’s going on?” Krystan growls low, eyeing the massive dragon as though he were his next meal.

Scandal sighed, using his tail to wipe the snow behind him so that when he shrank he didn't cause an avalange. Like a balloon losing its air he shrank, equally all parts, until he was about 20' tall, and sitting on his hind legs, and crossed his arms. By appearance now withou tthe snow, he looked to those who had seen him this way before, different, the features more mature less child like. His red eyes with their black whites, his black scales and red under belly. and his wings where the soft flesh was red while the other areas were black and scaled. He glanced at the dog, and shrgged his shoulders. And then for the first time he spoke without using his thoughts. "Zahrani, Lanara, its hard to explain, I feel like my liver turned over, and when I look at you girls now i feel like the blood in my body is flowing rapidly, and I get these flashes of heat. I don't know whats going on this has never happened before." In true genuine honesty, which was rare for black and red dragons, Scandal the exception possible, was trying to convey without knowing for himself, that his body had finally matured physically. if he knew he'd be thankful of having a snow drift to lean up against hiding a good portion of his lower front.

Zahrani's ears are turned towards Scandal as he speaks. As she puts her crossbow away, the realization hits her and she seems to freeze in place. That cat maintains a poker face like no other. Puberty. Dragon's go through puberty, like just about every other denizen of Hollow that isn't plant-based. Turning to the Aira and Lanara, she opens her mouth, closes it again, then says calmly, "So...it seems our mutual friend is just now reaching adolescence." Like a freight train.

Aira does not put her knife away, deciding she’d prefer to keep it at the ready just in case. The vixen knows nothing about the dragon nor what affliction he is ailing from. Though as he talks her almond shaped eyes widen, her mouth literally falling open. She turns to give Lanara an “I’m going to kill you” sort of look before clearing her throat. “Well, this has been fun, but I think it’s best for me to go.” The foxkin then turns to leave unless she was stopped.

Lanara shifts uncomfortably and places all her weight to one foot, her arms crossed over her chest, and she gives Zahrani a side-long glance. This was unexpected! Scandal had the hots for her, and is now going through puberty?! The fact that he was hiding his lower portion makes her mind go to dangerous places, and she blinks, confused. As Aira threatens to leave, she grabs the foxkin by the arm, no longer bemused. “No! Stay. Um… Help him. You’re single, are you not? Maybe you can uh heal his affliction? Or perhaps, you, Zahrani?” Eirik appeared from the north.

Scandal realized partially where this was going, and realized the only sane way out of this was either shrink, which might be for the best, despite not wanting to be eaten again, especially by a dog, but the other option was to leave and deal with the other kind of agony, mistrust. He wouldn't be able to change for another 24 hours this was his limit, so with a massive sigh, "I have solution." And again like baloon he shrank, smaller, smaller, until he was no bigger than the span of a hand. He sighed in the snow weary of what Krystan might do. "This is not the worst thing that has happened to me..."

Zahrani literally puts her face in one of her palms at Lanara's suggestion. Even a paladin's brain made that suggestion sound super awkward. Looking back at the two women, "I don't think either of us are able to help him. Ideally, he should get help and advice from another dragon..." She realizes she's talking as if Scandal weren't there. The feline looks back at the dragon, watching him shrink down to the size of a large salamander. "Scandal, please be careful. If you don't regulate your body's heat, you could freeze to death at that size." Some part of her knew that wouldn't necessarily be an issue for a being as magical as a dragon, but for her, it never hurts to be realistically cautious. If need be, Scandal could ride in her pocket until they reached the tavern.

If Aira’s look was bad when she initially looked at Lanara right now she is looking downright murderous at the pretty elf. She wrenches her arm free from the witch’s hand and huffs. “No, actually, I’m -not- single. Why don’t -you- take care of it Lanara? He already seems to have an attraction towards you and that ass of yours!” Of course, Aira isn’t completely cruel and these words are spoken in a hushed whisper towards Lanara so Scandal wouldn’t hear.

Lanara inches back, slowly, as Scandal shrinks in size, dramatically. She’s happy that he opened up to the trio about his urges, though she’s unsure quite how to react or help the poor man. As the paladin offers up the suggestion of a female dragon, she tilts her head to the side. “That’s a wonderful idea! But the only female dragon I know of in the entire realm is…. Well, it’s Queen Hildegarde, and no offense to anyone, but I don’t think she dates…” A sad glance is offered to Scandal. “Well. What type of woman would you wish to bed, mostly?” Perhaps Lana would have made a jest, or ran her fingertips through Krystan’s black fur, but she finds that her next action is cut off, as Aira glares and pulls herself free of her gentle grasp. In a heated whisper, she fires back at the ranger. “This isn’t my fault! I went to see Eirik fight Kahn, tonight! I’m not even dressed sexy, nor have I even hinted at flirting! I’m engaged!”

Scandal listened for the while he could, "Um, no, I don't think... Well is I mean to say..." He squeaked, clearly his size changing his voice, "No this my fault, I knew this would happen, I just didn't know when, How about we talk later on this, when i am better under control, and not so cold." He shivered. He could brave the heat, the acid, but not the cold, nope nope nope. He looks up at Zahrani, and then back down. Sighing, "I think, I would want to be friends before mates, it just seems better that way." He said this without meaning anyone there, he was just, this was happening to fast, and it was horribly embarrassing.

Zahrani sighs, hearing pretty much every word between Aira and Lanara, save for a few indistinct whispers. Immediately mating was not what she had in mind. Bending down, she gently scoops up the smell shivering dragon in one of her warm, black paws, guiding him into the seemingly roomy cargo pocket on her insulated pants. She then turns to the two females, "I was thinking more along the lines of a parental figure who could help him figure things out. Not a mate. Something that the three of us take for granted; we've all had multiple years to adjust to adulthood. It's just now starting for him, and it must be confusing as heck." She looks back at her pocket; she could still feel him shivering and thawing out. "I'm taking him back to the tavern so he doesn't catch his death out here." With that, she puts her hood back over her head and stalks back towards the town. Whether or not the foxkin and the witch followed would be up to them.

Aira folds her arms around her midsection once more, making sure to keep the pointed end of her knife away from her body as she continues to glare at her friend. “Well the fight wouldn’t have lasted long anyway. Kahn would have destroyed that pretty boy.” Aira wrinkles her nose in disgust as she looks in the direction of where Scandal shrunk to. “Who did you say you were engaged to again?” Copper eyes swivel back to Zahrani and she unfolds her arms and holds them up in defense. “I don’t know him and as I’ve stated, I don’t know many dragons as I avoid them after I was attacked.” She watches as the paladrin places the small dragon in her pocket and cocks her head to the side. “Drargon is the frost giant who runs the tavern. Maybe he’ll know someone?” She suggests with a small shrug. “It seems as if you have everything under control anyways, so I’m just going to head back home…” The huntress hitches her thumb towards the west. “It was nice to meet you Zahrani, Scandal. Lanara, maybe we can catch up soon?"

Lanara feels pity for Scandal, as she knows what it’s like to have an attraction towards someone, and she knows what it’s like to also be lonely. Her sangria-stained lips curve downward, as she shakes her head, causing her chestnut locks to flutter wildly in the wind. She hadn’t meant to hurt the dragon’s feelings. And seeing as how Lana grew up without a farther, and at an academy away from her family, she couldn’t really relate to that, either. Still. She hated hearing the sadness in his voice, and she finds that perhaps a mate wasn’t what he needed, at the moment. The elf wasn’t exactly parent material, either. But a friend? She could be that, and everyone knew she was a damn good friend. Maybe, just not right now, to Aira, who is glaring at her and holding a dagger. Feigning a smile towards Zahrani, she watches as Scandal is dropped into her pocket. “You get him to the Inn. Feel free to charge a room under my tab. I’ll be there later, I have some herbs I need to pick up, nearby.” Turning towards Aira, she widens her eyes, shock registering from her slip of the tongue. Only one being in the entire realm knew of her engagement to the witch killer, and even her own sister was left in the dark. “I’m engaged to Eirik.” She states, matter-of-factly. “And for the record… Kahn would have been begging for mercy at the end of that duel.” Lana grins, her gaze dark, as she turns in the opposite direction. “Be seeing you, Aira.”
