Summary: Meri and Magik talk a bit of business, she meets Ohtar, and learns that Magik can also turn into a wolf.

The Rebel Room: Art Gallery

Meri was actually at her shop for a change, the doors were unlocked and people could wander inside. Emphasis on people. None of the Cenril zombies were welcome, and Meri’s business was fairly close to the starting point of the plague that was troubling the city. Alas, the very same plague was also putting a significant damper on the number of people that wandered through the gallery. Anyone that did enter would have no trouble locating Meri. Walls in the main gallery area were not a thing and the blonde was standing in plain sight, with a canvas, a cart and numerous paints spread out on said cart. There was also this mini version of Meri in plain sight. Fleur has been positioned on a dropcloth with her own canvas, the black haired child is very happy playing trying to imitate her mother...but the kid version involves her fingers and a much larger mess than Meri is making.

Magik . Magikrios. Veneficus D'Chath. Shadow. Whatever. The stupidly tall elf wanders into the gallery with his daughter's black wolf, Ohtar, walking right next to him. The two take their time in admiring the art on display. The Lyastri has his normal dark and ominous clothing on, complete with fuzzy black slippers. Ohtar? Well he's just a black wolf. A special black wolf, mind you. Very intelligent. And green eyes. Beautiful green eyes. Anywho. Meri did not go unnoticed. The elf offered her a cheeky smirk should she notice him. After the pair, mainly Magik, are done thoroughly inspecting the works of art, he walks towards Meri with his hands behind his back. He glances about the art room as he asks, "How'd it go?" He even offers Fleur a friendly wink.

Meri :: It wouldn’t take Meri long to notice Magik’s arrival. There were perks and drawbacks to being a lycan, but a couple of those perks included sensitive hearing and scent. While she’s aware, she let’s Magik do his thing. Many of the paintings in the gallery were not Meri’s but other artist who paid the blonde a commission for a place to display and sell their works. The piece that Meri is working on is of Karasu, it’s a bit on the scandalous side though. Kara is by a lake, and..what is she wearing? Not much. Tessa might have something to do with this inspiration, it may be better not to ask. It’s also covered by the time Magik gets close enough to see it, out of politeness for Karasu. The paint-covered toddler of a lycan is less interested in the man, and far more interested in the wolf. She’s staring hard. She may try and pet soon. Meri though focuses on Magik, greeting him with a knowing smirk. “I told you I would get the job done, didn’t I? Tessa has what you asked me to retrieve.”

Magik wouldn't dare ask what Meri was working on if she was quick to cover it before he strolled over. It's just none of his business. Ohtar sits as the little girl stares. She is quite a mess though. Ohtar looks up to Magik but the elf reassures him, "I'll get ya cleaned up on the trek back." With that, the black wolf enters a stalking pose and creeps towards Fleur. When he's close enough, he gently jumps forward to start covering the child in drool filled wolf kisses. The Lyastri smirks before looking to the newest recruit, "Good. I'm glad to hear it. How about a quick summary? Any need to follow up? Or is this a one and done?"

Meri might be more concerned about the play between Ohtar and her daughter, except for the fact that Fleur was a bit of a wild child. And a lycan. She could handle it, and by the sounds of the giggling she was loving it. So Meri just rolled with it, it was making the kid happy, which was keeping the child out of her hair. Everyone was happy. “It’ll wash right out,” she reassures both Ohtar and Magik, picking up on the detail that maybe this wolf was more intelligent than most. Which is why Meri was now studying the wolf rather than looking up at the elf, “Ah. Well. Quintessa was of the opinion that the item is cursed. We might still have the Captain. We’re trying to figure out where she would have gotten such an item. If the Captain is to be believed, there might be more. Last Quintessa and I spoke of it, she had a few leads she wanted to speak on?” A shrug from the blonde. “Plenty to follow up on, by the sounds of it.”

Magik doesn't pay any mind to Ohtar. He wouldn't hurt any innocent being. Ohtar has always been the protective type. The wolf matches Fleur's energy and tries to keep her occupied while the adults talk. Magikrios listens to Meri's words carefully and nodded in approval, "Good. Let's not let this get swept under the rug." Suddenly, a wall of heat surrounds the pair to block out Magik's next words, "If you or Tessa need the Unseen Hand for extra eyes and ears, go for it. If you haven't been filled in on what that is, I'm sure Tessa will be more than happy to let you know." With that, the sudden heat disappears as if nothing happened. The elf smirks as he adds on, "Also, in the armory..Pick out an owl for yourself next time you are down there. My treat."

Meri is secretly rooting that Ohtar will manage to wear the child down so that maybe she’ll get in a decent nap. Wouldn’t that be the dream of a single mother. Blue eyes are directed back up at Magik when that wall of heat surrounds them. Curious, Meri’s red lips twitch up into a slight smirk, but she also has the good sense to not question what just happened once that heat fades. “An owl? Not a companion I have ever imagined myself having…” Yet Meri would not refuse. “I’m not in trouble if my daughter has a moment and accidentally eats this owl, am I?” Meri’s not smirking, she actually looks quite serious, this may not be a joke question. She’s trying to understand the significance of this owl. “If we’re done with the business end of things, careto tell me about your friend there…? I’m not sure I have ever seen a wolf with green eyes.”

Magik wasn't amused. Or was he? He was. He wouldn't show it though. "If anything happens to the owl, you are to bring two well trained replacements back to the armory. Then you get a goldfish instead." Magik's fiery eyes didn't leave Meri's until he smirks. He looks over to Ohtar doing his very best to keep Fleur busy, "Ohtar is my daughter's protector. I'm not sure how they met but I just know he would die for that kid. Him and I have a special bond as well. He's a kind soul but is absolutely ruthless if it comes down to it." The Lyastri smiles as he watches the wolf actually play for once instead of always remaining on alert. "And your little friend? Daughter, I assume?"

Meri may not have been joking but she was quick to pick up on the fact that Magik was. The blonde snaps her fingers, doing nothing to hide the smirk that has formed across her own lips. “Well shoot. I guess I really hope that Fleur does not have any accidents then. A goldfish sounds like so much responsibility.” The psion does not fully process the explanation that Magik gives her. Well, she comprehends it but she just is not really registering the depths of the Lyastri bond. “A protector and a special bond. Hm. Interesting. Nothing like my wolf. You don’t want to meet her, I am sure.” Ohtar’s efforts are paying off, it seems that Fleur is starting to reach a point of tuckered out. It helps that she was thoroughly amused with painting prior to the wolf joining the party. “Your daughter? How old is your daughter? Babysitting age, maybe?” Look, Meri is always in need of trusted individuals. How is she supposed to help kill orcs if she has no babysitter? The more the merrier. “Fleur is my daughter, yes. Just me and her these days.” The detail is provided more so that they can hedge away from that topic, Meri had nothing to say about Callum and wasn’t interested in slandering pops right in front of his daughter. Even if he deserved it.

Magik ponders exactly what type of wolf Meri would be. Bite your face off immediately type? Belly scritches type? Both? Magik wasn't going to push the issue though. At least not tonight. It is duly noted though. Perhaps a secret weapon in the future? We'll see. Anyways. The questions about his daughter are usually welcome. He doesn't mind talking about her but he'll keep to answering the questions and nothing about what her poor disgusting mother put her through, "Mirshann is about eighteen..My only child and she knows when to play that card." Magik laughs then thinks on the suggestion as he looks to Ohtar as he winds down with Fleur, "Even if Mirsh isn't at one hundred percent, Ohtar wouldn't let any harm come to either of them.." He wasn't about to explain her current situation just yet. Having just gone through the same thing not too long ago, he was more than prepared on how to help Mirshann through the process. Vague, right? As Magik and Meri converse, the black wolf walks in a close circle before laying down on the ground infront of Fleur.

Meri would probably need to work through a few issues before being an effective secret weapon. Maybe in time with enough prying Magik would figure it out, the same goes with Mirshann and her story. It’s obvious that Meri is quite tempted to push on that subject, but the question does not pass through her lips. Another conversation. “Wouldn’t have pegged you as old enough to have an eighteen year old daughter.” Alas, unfortunately for Magik, it’s at this point that Meri decides she’s been far too mannered. Cue a bit of obnoxiousness from her. It was bound to happen. The blonde steps forward toward Magik so that she can reach out to flick the tip of one of his pointed elf ears. “I suppose elf blood will do that, eh?” The invasion of his space will not last for long, Meri will step back shortly after. Ohtar lays down, the toddler follows suit, and the black wolf will soon find that the toddler is using him as a pillow. She’s not out yet, but she’s threatening to pass out. “Well if you do not think she would be entirely opposed to the idea, maybe I will drop by sometime in the future and we’ll see what she thinks of Fleur.” She points to the wolf, “But I would trust Ohtar without question. Fleur seems to enjoy him.”

Magik 's eyes flickered as his ear was flicked. Were it a complete stranger, this person would have been turned to ash immediately. But. It's just Meri. He's amused actually. "Well, it could be the elven blood or whatever else.." D'Chath? Lyastri? Unknown ancestry? After Meri takes a step back he nods, "I wouldn't mind some company at the treehouse. I'm sure Mirsh wouldn't mind either.." Should he mention his bar? Pool? Hot tub? Nah. It'll be a nice little surprise when/if they come visit. Magik then clears his throat then looks to Ohtar, "You know the way home, bud.." The wolf perks his ears up to Magik's words then back down as he snuggles close to Fleur. "Meri. A pleasure as always but I have a few matters to tend to." There's one more glance about, "I'll be sure to stop by to check out any new pieces.." The Lyastri smirks then heads to the exit. However, after a few steps away from Meri, Fleur, and Ohtar, a smoking black orb surrounds the elf. As quick as it appeared, it dissipates to reveal another large black wolf but with bright blue eyes. The wolf stops, turns his head over his shoulder to Meri, then sprints to the exit.

Meri :: Talk of a bar might have caught Meri’s attention. The pool and the hot tub might have made her roll her eyes. The real clincher on getting Meri to show up at the treehouse is the fact that for a moment, there are two wolves in her gallery. One with green eyes and one with blue. Hold up. Magik has just generated like five million questions in Meri’s brain and then bolted before she had a chance to solve any of them. The chances of Meri showing up at the treehouse are officially unavoidable. But for tonight she’d just relieve Ohtar from his duties of guarding Fleur. The child was falling asleep anyway and was still covered in paint, Meri needed to fix that. “Come on. Bath time.” And before Ohtar makes his own exit, “It’s watercolors, I swear. It’ll come right out. I won’t bring the paint next time.” Ohtar is also off! And Meri is off to deal with her child.
