Summary: Having gotten used to her new diet of mortal flesh, Kanna slips in picking her targets and accidentally decides on a member of the Syndicate of Shadows. Magik is almost her next victim, but is saved by Rinn. Infuriated, Rinn ends up setting half the Kelay Tavern on fire in an attempt to smoke her out, and Magik realizes that Kanna is the ghoul preying on tavern patrons. A mysterious figure assists Kanna's escape, and promptly steals the notice of a bounty on Kanna's head, but not before she is discovered by Magik.

Kelay Tavern

Kanna looks around as she plays the lute on a makeshift stage of cheap tables, wondering which lucky man her next meal should be. She is disguised as a human today, though those magically-inclined would notice not quite right about the bardess. Magik has a quick moment of PTSD. Music. Bardic lodge. Much fire and puke. He keeps his distance this time but turns around in his bar stool to watch the performance. Every once in a while he quietly applauds, letting a quiet, "Yeah alright," follow suit. He also continues to eye the bard suspiciously. Infact, everyone is eyed suspiciously. Even you, reader. Kanna ends the song and gives a bow. Her hungry eyes land on Magik and she squints a little, trying to place him. Bardic lodge. Puke. Explosion. Was there fire? No matter, he'll do, even if he's a little lean for her liking. "I see you're all recovered, aren'tcha?"

Magik tosses a gold coin to the musician. It'd be impolite to not tip. The Lyastri shakes his head as he answers the question, "Not quite, but getting there. Any other tunes?"

Kanna smiles, tilting forward slightly. "Of course. Why don't you pull up a pint, see if we can't have some fun with this show." She places a few coppers on the counter. "A beer for my friend here." With that, she gets back up on the rickety stage and starts singing a slow song, laced with sleep magic to make the patrons drowsy.

Magik waved to Mesthak, "Add some of that juice in that beer, sir." The juice is mostly blood from Magik's private reserve. Mesthak obliged. As the song went on, the elf sipped on his beer. Getting more tired as the notes filled the air, Magik's head would nod up and down, trying to stay awake to enjoy the music. Vampires don't normally get sleepy, do they? As the song plays on, Magik's stomach begins rumbling like it did in the Lodge before all hell broke loose. The elf's too tired to care though.

Kanna smiles so wide it almost looks sinister. "Oh dear, are you okay? You poor thing, you must not be up to speed yet. Mesthak, I'll be letting him borrow my room, is that alright?" The barkeep gives her a look that says 'do whatever nonsense you're going to do and don't involve me.' Kanna lowers herself off the stage again and taps Magik's shoulders. "Come now, you should probably lay down until that passes."

Magik tiredly looks at Kanna, "What'd you put in my b.." He quickly shuts his mouth before his cheeks can fill with that destructive black bile. He goofily smiles, black ooze dripping out of the corners of his smile. He doesn't understand any of Kenna's words before he falls forward, smacking his head on the edge of a table before he slams onto the floor. "Ow," is all he can manage to say as he struggles to remain conscious.

Rinn runs into the tavern and vehemently punts Kanna in her groin for messing with her husband.

Magik sleepily turns his head to the side to look at his beautiful angel of a wife with her scorching red hair, "Help."

Kanna steps away to dodge the punt and looks from how Magik looked up at Rinn, wrinkling her nose. "Ew, you're married?" She notes in a bold-faced lie, "He was the one hitting on me before he got all sickly. You'll note that I did not lay hands on his beer once!" Kanna smiles, inwardly annoyed that her meal was interrupted and somewhat diseased to begin with.

Rinn is curious as to how Kanna knew they were married when she simply came in and attempted to kick the woman and all Magik had said was, 'help'. Nonetheless, yes he was married, as for Magik hitting on the human? Rinn snorted with laughter after sizing the woman up and finding her lacking. Magik knew better and of this Rinn was certain. "Bitch..." The little criminal began, she lacked class and could care less when it came to proper etiquette. - probably why her sister in-law hated her so, "I know you are up to no good." She gestured to the others unconscious around her. "Your lies are as transparent as you are." If it weren't for her wedding ring that was still glowing she would have never know Magik to be in harm's way. As for Magik he could help himself, "Get up." She spat rather loudly as she placed herself between the two.

Kanna continued smiling. "You seem surprised. You think I didn't notice how he was the only one you looked at when walking in? I do not wish to fight an unnecessary fight."

Rinn locked her hands and jerked them away from her cracking her knuckles with purpose as her penetrating gaze remained glued to the woman, "I don't give a feck about what you wish or don't wish for." Rinn continued to stretch and pop, "Every action has a consequence, baby." Her lips contorted into an impish grin as she grabbed the nearest liquor bottle and hurled it straight for the human. Rinn wouldn't stop there. anything in her path would be directed towards Kanna, -chairs, bottles, earthenware- until she was close enough to sucker punch.

Kanna stands still as the bottle is hurled. The smile on her face fades, replaced with a cold sneer. Her hand reaches forward and suddenly pulls upward. A thick mass of tree roots shoots up from the wooden floor, showering the sleepy patrons in splinters and creating a wall between the hot-tempered redhead and the bard. With deliberately slow, almost tauntingly slow movements, she withdraws a satchel of gold and holds it up to the wall. A single root curls around it and transfers it to the opposite end of the wall where it is deposited in Mesthak's lap. "For the damages."

Magik slowly sat up, shaking off his tiredness. His eyes blaze furiously as he peaks through Rinn's legs to scold the bard, "You're out of tune and out of key, by the way. Look what you did to Mesthak!" The elf violently points to the barkeep, sound asleep and drooling all over his mugs. He finally gets to his feet and wipes himself off, "I was warned about a predator amongst taverns. Is this you? Preying on men who fall asleep to your lousy music?"

Rinn cackled to herself as she decided to pull out an oldie but a goody, "Fine if you want to play this way we can." The wood that sprouted suddenly as a protective barrier had taken most of Rinn's abuse, it's limbs doused in highly flammable liquor. It was the potency of Mesthak's brews that kept this little redhead loyal. With the strike of a match and twinge of sulfur she turned the barrier into firewood. Patrons slowly waking with screams as they fled for the door, the door that Rinn now guarded. She'd allow all to pass the threshold, all but one, Kanna. She wanted Kanna to die in agony, to rot alive. It didn't matter, she didn't even need a reason to wish harm upon someone however the human gave her one and she was to run with it.

Kanna balls her hands into fists, grateful that she can't be seen from behind the barrier. LOUSY?! "Don't be ridiculous. If people find my music so comforting that they can sleep to it, I'm surely not that bad of a singer. The only predators around here are the men who believe they can drag women anywhere they want and hide under the excuse of drunkenness. If there is someone preying on men, then they would be a hero." Taking a moment to unclench her jaw, she winces for the wall as it bursts into flames. Grateful that she no longer has functional nerves, she taps the blackening wood despite the sizzle that bounces off her ring finger. which transforms the side facing outward into a wall of thorns. "That rat terrier of a wife you have is going to bring you more enemies than friends, my dear." Grabbing her backpack, touches the flaming wall again with her opposite hand, sending thorns flying out in Rinn's direction. Under the distraction, she snaps her fingers to undo the disguising spell, pinning her silvery hair up in a ponytail and throwing a sunhat on before fleeing the tavern through the window of the storeroom directly behind her.

Rinn clucked like a chicken as the woman fled for her life. They would meet again, this she was sure of. For now she'd fetch water and an illusionist to set the room right again until contractors could do a proper job. Then she'd make a post on the public board setting a bounty for the lousy bard.

Kanna takes a moment as she climbs the window to note a hooded figure untying her beloved wolf companion from the area generally reserved for horses. The figure's face is obscured by a black mask, but Kanna can't help but feel the figure is familiar. "Don't look at me! Get out of here already!" The figure snaps, giving Amante a smack on the rump so he rushes over for Kanna to climb onto.

Rinn checked her pockets before tacking up her note. "Last night must have gotten rowdier then I remember." Words spoken to herself as she fingered the coins in her palm.

Magik said to Rinn, "I'm upping the bounty." Magik makes his way to the bar, scribbles, gags towards Mesthak, then sits at his normal table as the flames are extinguished. "What the hell just happened…?"

Karasu examines the carnage from the entrance, noting Magik and Rinn hovering over the board, their backs turned to her. She curses to herself repeatedly, ducking out from the entrance.

Magik moves to give Rinn a kiss.

Rinn pushes Magik off her, "No, you let a little girl best you. You don't get kisses."

Karasu slips in and takes a seat on the floor near the entrance as they argue, posing as a still-unconscious patron.

Magik said to Rinn, "She did her damn bardic bullcrap sleepy spell. What the hell!"

Jesse laughed as he daydreams about Rinn. Long manly strides for the redhead, "I'll cover her bill." His gleaming smile and eyebrows go up and down for Rinn. Dad bod Magik is ignored as always. "Trouble in paradise?"

Karasu grimaces under her featureless black mask, keeping her forehead on her arm so she can keep an eye on the Syndicate's movements.

Rinn orders the most expensive item in the bar, whatever it may be. "Leave me be unless you want to be gutted next." She growled to Jesse. Magik would then get a roll of her eyes before she made her way back to her husband.

Jesse reaches out for Rinn as she abandons him; he even leans in for a sniff, he loves those pheromones, "I'll gut you if you know what I mean." Jesse double winks and bites his knuckle while staring at her rump.

Magik pardons himself from his wife's side for just a moment, "Look at all of these other knuckleheads still asleep." He walks about the tavern, smacking each one harder and harder on the head as he passes, saving the unknown female by the door for last, "Alright. Everyone up. The lousy musician is gone." Karasu would get an extra kick to the outer thigh, "Up and attem!" He scoffs before returning to his seat.

Karasu lets out an involuntary yelp at the kick, which sounds dangerously close to a cat's yowl. Holding her thigh with one hand, she is careful to stand up so she faces away from them.

Rinn spun on her heels to face Jesse head on, "Oh yeah?" She asked holding back a gag, "Fine. Let's go." She challenged. "Right now." She'd press against him only to punch him right in the dick, if he didn't dodge of course.

Jesse doubles over in pain, but pain he would relish. She touched him and that pain meant she was real, "Run away with me." He grunted before vomiting.

Rinn wondered why all the men around her are puking and with that thought left the tavern. "Later losers."

Karasu limps over to the board, reading the bounty over. Glancing over to make sure Rinn isn't watching the board as she leaves, the halfling rips the notice off the board and moves across the bar and out for the exit faster than a human could run.

Jesse said to Karasu, "I'll tell on you." Jesse judges Karasu on her looks and she passes just enough to earn one wink. She should be feeling honoured. He leans over and lands a punch square in Magik’s stomach as retribution.

Magik laughs at the exchange between Rinn and Jesse but the sudden tearing of paper catches his attention. As Kara attempts to duck out of the tavern, Magik reaches to snatch her up but doubles as the punch lands. “If you’ll excuse me.” He spins and lunges for Jesse.

Karasu stops when she realizes she's been seen. With her voice disguised through the mask to sound a hair older than she is, she taunts. "What are you going to say, a mysterious figure ran off with a piece of paper? Based on what I saw, I don't think she'd believe you very much." She tenses at the wink. Damn lycans. The halfling scoffs and turns as Magik lunges for Jesse. "If you'll excuse -me-."

Magik is brought back to life by a sneaky necromancer who lives under the floorboards. He knocks Jesse over the head, then catches up to Kara, stepping in front of her path towards the exit, "Kara?" He squints at her, "A mask does no good if you speak through it.."

Karasu stares up at Magik beneath the disguise. Fortunately, she generally drinks a morphing potion before going into public places. She reaches up to take off the mask, revealing a blonde with a wide nose and green eyes that are just a hair too close together. The potion does nothing to disguise the catty glare, nor her voice. "The name is Georgette. I'm here on royal business for the Queen investigating a series of deaths in the rooms of the Larketian taverns. One of them happened to be a guard, you see."

Magik maintains eye contact with Karasu, "Alright, 'Georgette'. My apologies." He looks around, wiping the drool from his face while muttering quietly, "The tower." He then moves out of the way, "Wouldn't want to upset the Queen."

Karasu, or Georgette, whichever circle of Hell she pulled that name from, tries not to look unnerved as she leaves the Tavern. Magik knew.
