RP:Derry, First of the Coven

From HollowWiki

Satoshi lounges in the peculiar comforts of a one-armed armchair, a book across her lap with pages slowly turning as the kit skims through a variety of magical symbols, runes, and formulas. A small pile of notes rest on the chair's only existing arm, and every few moments Satoshi jots down a snippet of what she's reading onto the papers.

Sempter trudges through the door without a glance back or a glance around the building. He moved to get him a drink, flipping a few coins, pretty much the last that he had to warm himself up a bit, though he wasn't really cold. Not with all that fur and his clothing protecting him. He finally turned and spotted Satoshi, but he didn't know who she was yet. His ice blue eyes gave him a soft expression, and no real reason to fear him. If the female was to glance up, Semtper would nod to her and raise his drink to her.

Satoshi can't quite help but look up, considering the uncommon being that's just walked through the door on heavy hooves. Silently, eyes wide with curiosity, the foxkin watches the minotaur approach the bar and order a drink, and he'll find her still watching when he turns in her direction. The nod and lift of glass is met with Satoshi's own nod and a half-smile. "Don't see many of your folk out here. What brings you to Frostmaw~?"

Svilfon looks completely exhaused. His hat is pulled low, purple rings have found home under his eyes, and it's clear all he needs is a nice rest. So without paying attention to what he's doing, he wanders over to -his- usual chair and drops straight into it. How odd, he thinks. He manouevers around. He was sure his chair was not this lumpy, or squirmy, or.. tail-ey? Never mind! He relaxes back and drinks some wine.

Satoshi squeaks in a most undignified way as she's sat on, and promptly steals the offending wizard's hat as payback. "Gerroff, you!"

Sempter raises a brow, "Brings me? I'm afraid missy that I have live here all my life, deep in the forest where no one goes." He drank some of his ale, "Minotaur folk are not common at all, even in Larket where the race began its life."

Satoshi twists beneath Svilfon to look back at Sempter, trying to play off her undignified position by flashing him a grin. "Oh? From here? Hellfire, why haven't I run across you yet~? I had no idea some of your kind lived up here."

Sempter said to Satoshi, "-ignoring the situation really- So far, I am the only one. I have lived in solitude for so long that I have not even thought to seek out my own kind."

Svilfon mutters something about talking chairs and confused goats, before realizing he has been de-hatted and his chair is offering rather Satie-like curses. His hands quickly raise to his head as he jumps up, before swinging around to see a very squished Satoshi. He flashes her a grin and a half shrug, "Watch what falls outta that," he motions to the hat. "And comfy." He winks.

Satoshi abandons Svilfon's chair and returns his hat as she claims her usual one across from the seat, all the better to look at Sempter without having to twist around. To the wizard, she quips, "Comfier than your deformed seat, yes. It's the fluff." And back to Sempter her attention goes. "The forest, I presume? Or the ruins? Although, so little that's pleasant ever comes out of -there-."

Sempter said, "The forest. I have lived there for as long as I can remember, until this dragon found me. She said I could possibly be of some help to this queen, I am just not hearing about. I figured I would come out and see what use I could be."

Svilfon displays a rarely shown maturity and respect. He makes no jokes about certain ratios, or their direct correlation to her comfortableness. Nor does the wizard do what he secretly wants to do and sit no her again. She was quite comfortable. Instead he flips his hat onto his head with a wizardly flourish, offers the snow queen a bow, before dropping into his one-armed armchair and doing his best to reset his fine ass groove, made wonky by a certain Satoshi and her four fine tails.

Satoshi said to Sempter, "Oh? A dragon told you? What sort of help are you thinking? There's been a great variety of folks around here of late, all with something to offer. Forgive a fox her curiosity, and old habit that's never quite died."

Sempter said to Satoshi, "I don't know. I wasn't given the details so I only came to check to see what was needed help with. As you can see, I have the strength of a bull. I don't know about fighting since I have not done so in years."

Satoshi settles back into her chair, sending the occasional glance at the wizard still trying to restore his chair to its former... assy glory. Smiling at the image, she looks back toward the minotaur and eyes him from horns to hooves, nodding. "I don't doubt your strength. Are you aligned with any magic, perhaps? There's a call for spell-weavers, warriors, craftsmen, and those with strong backs among so many other things, really."

Sempter said, "If there is any magical abilities in me, it is very small. I can train mounts as well."

Satoshi perks up slightly at that. "Mounts? Of the winged sort? Or the ground ones?" There's a gleam of delight in the amber-flecks of Satoshi's eyes by this point.

Sempter said to Satoshi, "Ground ones, but I can always try my hand at the flying ones to. Shouldn't be that different, other than the wings."

Satoshi looks thoughtful then, and begins musing aloud, "How about with mammoths? New ones will be brought into the city soon, and they'll need skilled trainers to prepare them quickly and properly. Frostmares too, now that I think of it, and perhaps a few other uncommon beasties." Glancing about, the kit leans forward to speak to Sempter in a slightly quieter voice, "Y'see, all the lands are threatened at the moment, and Frostmaw doesn't intend to be caught flatfoot if it is brought here. All that name this land their home are being called to offer what they can in the way of strengthening it, including the wildlife."

Sempter listens and nods his head, "Aye, but the animals will defend it without being forced to. They were here first and will do what they can to protect what they know." Still standing, he motions to a chair near Satoshi, "May I?" he asked politely. "I can see what I can do with these mammoths. Shouldn't be to hard if they are female, if they are bull mammoths, it could be tricky."

Svilfon seems entirely focused on fixing his chair to its former... glory, though every so often he looks over at the snow queen. He mutters something about parrots and goats when she speaks of the animals that roam Frostmaw, but for the most part he is content re-groovin' his chair.

Satoshi nods in acceptance of Sempter's request, and extends her hand out in greeting once her approaches. "I don't think I've caught your name yet, Hooves. And yes, I know the animals will defend their territory. The objective is to channel that nature into something more focused and effecient, if the need arises."

Sempter takes her hand in is large one, his skin soft to the touch and even on the eyes. He shakes her hand, "Sempter Buullo." He withdraws his hand, and takes the seat he asked for nicely. "Your name would be?"

Svilfon mutters, "Beatrice." Though, why he'd mutter that isn't clear.

Satoshi glances sidelong at Svilfon but answers Sempter truthfully despite the temptation to go with the wizard's comment. "Satoshi Azakhaer."

Sempter said to Satoshi, "Pleasure to meet you. -glances at Svilfon before speaking- I hope I can be of some help around here."

Svilfon quietly sings the Betty the Snowcone song as he waves to Drargon to bring his usual meal. Raw leg o' boar. The wizard's singing dissolves into half humming grunting as he noisily eats.

Svilfon also tips his hat to Sempter and, with a mouth full of food, garbles out, "Svilfon, wizard. Pleasure." Strangely laconic for the man, but he wants to keep singing and eating.

Satoshi silently debates testing her mug-throwing skills by using Svilfon's head as a target, but thinks better of it. For now. Instead she gives the minotaur a quick nod and flash of smiling fangs. "I imagine so, if you've the skills you say you do. The one currently overseeing the taming of animals brought it is the Lady Sophie of the elves, and her druids. She'd be delighted to test you, I'm sure."

Sempter blinks, "If druids are training the animals, then I would not interfear. My methods do not involve magic and mind reading since I can't do it. My methods are more hands on."

Svilfon flashes Satoshi a mouth-full-of-food grin, much like siblings do to each other at the table, before carrying on his meal. Almost as if he knew what she were thinking. He has had enough experience with her throwing things at him, after all.

Satoshi waggles a finger at the minotaur. "Not all of them can be coaxed by magic, and there certainly aren't enough druids to tend to all of the beasties if they have to work with them completely wild from the get go. A meshing of skills tends to work wonders as far as preparations go~."

Tirona totally still passed out in the back of the tavern for almost the second full day

Satoshi sticks her tongue out at Svilfon in response, momentarily neglecting her need to maintain regal appearances.

Svilfon snickers wickedly at the cracks showing in the regal snow queen's shell.

Satoshi whispered to Svilfon, "When you're done mauling that former-boar, mind trying to wake up Starling over there? We owe our prisoner a visit, and I need the bird's help."

Sempter said, "Then I can possibly do something to help. -stands- For now, I have to tend to my three animals and make sure they are alright. I hope to see you around and find out more about these animals. I can be found camping out in the mines. -he nods and heads to the door, even lifting a hand to Svilfon-"

Satoshi said to Sempter, "Until then, farewell~."

Svilfon spits out some chunks of wood that seem to be in his meal, before nodding to the snow queen. He gets up and as he passes her whispers a few quiet words, before wandering over to where Tirona has passed out. Without much finesse the wizard begins to kick him, not all that hard mind you, while yelling, "Wake up, bird boy!" He is not the most elegant of Frostmaw's residents.

Svilfon whispered to Satoshi, "Do you want me to come with you guys? I have something I want... removed... before I get too close to my former clansmen."

Satoshi watches Svilfon harass poor Tirona and is reminded of the dangers of sleeping on a ship captained by a wolf. The recollection brings a grin to the fox's face, and once the wizard is looking her way again, she'll answer his whispered question with a simple nod.

Svilfon said to Satoshi, "At least ol' Hooves over there knows what he's getting into up here, now. *grins*"

Satoshi said to Svilfon, "-No one- knows entirely what they're getting into when dealing with moi. Ears, and all that~."

Tirona wasn't really all that happy at the prospect of being forced to awaken… or at least his subconscious wasn't. The day before he'd been woken briefly by Sophie, but he'd only been asleep for an hour or 3 at the most. As he felt himself being kicked, water instinctively reached down, wrapping around the spot he was getting kicked and freezing into a hardened iron-like plate of ice. Of course, this reaction wasn't the best because a moment later he opened his eyes, the burning cold of the ice awakening the scholar. His eyes shifted around the room quickly, taking in every inch of what had changed since he had fallen asleep. After he had, his face took its usual disinterested expression before he looked up at Svilfon, who he assumed had been the one who had so rudely awakened him. "Do not do that again." The comment sounded rather bland coming in his monotone, not even a glare accompanying it. However, it was just about as close to a threat as the Avian was likely to utter.

Tifra pads slowly into the tavern green sparks cascading through her fur.

Satoshi hails the newly awakened Tirona with a wave. "Starling~. Care for a wake to shake the sleep from your bones? We haven't had the chance to speak in a bit, and all that." Whether the avian takes the offer or not, Satoshi is on her feet and limping stiffly toward the door.

Svilfon jumps up and down as he kicks Tirona's ice, his hands grabbing his feet and a muttered curse coming from his lips. "Sven's balls, birdy." He shakes his head, before kneeling down and speaking quietly to the avian. "If you fall asleep in this tavern and need to be awoken again, I'll send in Percy." He flashes an ambiguous wink before standing up and hobbling over to Satoshi. If he was at all bothered by the avian's apparent threat, it doesn't show. But then, nothing bothers Svil all that much. "He's not a morning person." He grins.

Tirona shook his head, the armor like ice quickly melting and returning to his flask. "I shall assume you mean a walk," he said, brushing some of the dirt off his cloak and stood up. He stood up, lifting up the large satchel of books that was sitting on the other side of him. He didn't bother to check if any were missing because he honestly didn't care. The only two he did care about were tucked inside his cloak, and he could feel that they were both still there. He followed the pair over to the door, the stinging cold causing him to flinch lightly as he approached the door. Larket would be a welcome reprieve when he made his way there this evening. Provided that this… Syrus was actually there to speak with him. He didn't have the slightest clue who Percy was, but he didn't particularly care that much either.

Satoshi's words are a little funny today, and she's blaming the long cut running across her cheek. Yeah, that's totally valid. Shut up. Still, out the door she goes, with followers in tow.

Prisoner Cells

Satoshi leads the pair to the prisoner cages without a word, coming to a halt outside the pen Derry's been left in and turning to face them with a nod toward the imprisoned vampire. "This is who I sent you the note about, Starling," she explains to Tirona before glancing at Svilfon and adding quietly, "Coterie, of sorts, if all goes well."

Svilfon follows behind Satoshi, all hints of his normal joviality forsaken in light of a stoic expression on his face. He barely even looks at Derry, or any of the other prisoners. Instead he stands by the entrance and begins to play with an old, ragged looking wand that on closer inspection seems to be nothing more than a twig he picked up long ago. He remains there, ensuring they are left alone, and ensuring those he are loyal to are not in danger from those within the cage. To Satoshi's words he offers a shrug. He has spoken to Kasyr his thoughts on this matter, he has little else to say beyond, "Be wary, lady icicle."

Derry glanced up from his cage, the vampire was sitting, legs stretched outward, back pressed up from the bars. Locking eyes onto Satoshi,"The revenant is not accompanying you all on this tour of these fabulous cages?" Derry took a swig from the leather pouch he held in his right hand, some of the contents dripping out of it, sanguine fluid coloring the dismal floor.

Derry drank a goblin blood.

Satoshi said to Derry, "My husband's detained at the moment, and I'm more suited to this task than he is. After all, it's my prison, non? I should be the one giving the tour, and deciding who's permitted to leave with or without their head~."

Derry said to Satoshi, "Ah, so these are your prisons..."

Satoshi bows to Derry at that point, flashing an impish grin. "So long as I am Lady Frostmaw, yes. My husband wishes to make sure you stay true to your word, so that you can explore more of Frostmaw than simply our cages."

Derry kept his gaze locked on Satoshi," Odd a Lady bowing to a prisoner... I'm not one for the cold.."

Svilfon mutters something absently about wandering in the cold being far better than wandering around without your head.

Satoshi shrugs lightly, masking her seething distrust for the vampire behind casual indifference. "As much as I'd prefer to toss you off a cliff for your past doings, Kasyr finds you worthwhile and redeemable. I'll trust he knows what he's doing, but I'll be damned if I open this door for you without a few failsafes in place. Savvy?" Too much time with pirates, perhaps.

Derry smirked at Satoshi,"And what past doings would that be? Saving a city from a time bomb? Transporting cargo for Morvious? Or perhaps you believe what Jolie has told you... Your husband knows my story. He know my motivations for what I do. Not everything is always as it seems madam. I can assure you that." With that said, Derry took another drink of the blood he had received from one of the guards.

Satoshi eyes Derry closely, her voice kept low, "What my husband knows, I know, but I've learned a thing or two about being wary around those that have any links to the Time Lord. 'Not everything is always as it seems' can be used upon your own motivations as well." Shrugging again, the kit takes a step back, looking toward Tirona, "You haven't been thrown off a cliff yet, for good reason. You've bought yourself your life for the time being. We simply intend to avoid a backlash for granting you that much."

Tirona was examining the… prison, for lack of a better term, looking around at the different areas before he finally turned of to Satoshi. "I had a question about that before I showed you what I brought you," he said. He didn't know if this was going to be entirely accurate or not, but he would rather get it out of the way ahead of time before he unwrapped the book in a place like this. "What form of… control were you looking for? From the sound of your conversation, contract magic. However, your letter made it sound a bit more like you were interested in controlling him with something darker." He didn't have an opinion on light or dark magic, but he knew that there were slippery slopes involved with some of them. Contract magic wasn't all that new, but it wasn't exactly well used either. Enchant the paper, both parties sign. Should they break the contract… well, after that it varied from person to person. The darker magic involved control of the other person… mind, body, and soul.

Svilfon speaks quiet words to Kirien by the entrance.

Svilfon whispered something to Kirien.

Satoshi said to Tirona, "He and my mate have a standing agreement. We merely want it solidified with magic, as words are wind in times of war." Derry is given a look then, "If you still agree to it, obviously. I don't force this sort of sealing upon the unwilling."

Svilfon nods his head silently along with Satoshi's words, clearly thinking they are wise.

Derry shifted his gaze from Satoshi to Tirona, another contract, Derry's about had enough of these damned things. First its one for an elemental, and now its for a queen in a place known for its temperate. Sighing, thoughts just seemed to roam about the vampires head, most wondering if it was worth it a lot of the times. "I have no choice... He has something in store from what I've heard that I've got an interest in dabling in..."

Kirien had paused by the entrance while exploring, and was now peering curiously around at the current going-ons. Svilfon drew his attention with those whispered words but mostly what he said just prompted a bemused frown from the empath. "Why nursery rhymes?"

Svilfon flicks his finger over his shoulder at Derry, as if that answered everything.

Tirona nodded, scratching under his chin. "That is what I had guessed after I had finished research on the second method. Always better to be over-prepared than under." Honestly he found all this incredibly dull, and would rather the conversation shifted to something he found infinitely more interesting than wars and the politics of the modern day. Which was one of the reasons he had no intention of doing anything that he thought would make him more well known. He found it a boring prospect to read about himself in a history book. If he could, he would sit in his own library until time had ended, his only company the one who brought him new books. Or no one, if he could discover a way to get them there immediately after they were written. He reached into the bag, pulling out a couple of somewhat crumpled sheets of paper. "Basic contract magic; instructions on wording and enchantments that fit your style for the backlash if the contract is broken.

Kirien tilted his head in Derry's direction and squinted briefly at the man over the rim of his glasses. It was the wizard he turned back to. "…So which one is he?"

Svilfon leans in close to reply in a whisper to Kirien's question.

Svilfon whispered something to Kirien.

Svilfon loudly responds with the terse, "The one they caught."

Satoshi said to Derry, "Dabble away to your heart's content. What buys your freedom is a binding promise that your loyalty remains with those past, present, and future members of Kasyr's Coterie. You asked him for a chance, he's granting it, and I'm sealing it with our combined blood." Nothing is stronger than bindings of blood, especially when dealing with Vampires. Satoshi moves toward Tirona then as she remarks, "Simple and precise as that. How quickly can it be drawn up and completed?"

Derry smirked towards Svilfon,"If you are one to honestly think that, you are a fool."

Svilfon snaps his gaze to Derry. For a moment it seems he will take a step towards the cell, but instead he merely speaks in a voice layered with anger. "You are the one behind bars, idiot. Be thankful your fate is not in my hands." He flashes a brief glance at Satoshi, before resuming his vigil at the door.

Tirona handed the papers over to the vampire, shrugging at the question. "As long as it takes you or one of your others to draw up the contract. However, I would suggest someone who is neutral, and who is also not me, to write up the contract itself. The wording is tricky enough without personal bias causing your blood to freeze or boil in your veins," he said, scratching under his chin. The Avian couldn't tell if his monotone made that sentence better or worse. Either way, he really didn't care at this point. The conversation wasn't remotely interesting to him, and the only reason he was still helping Satoshi was for continued access to the cavern, and the possibility that she knew other places.

Kirien might've raised a brow at Svilfon before glancing back to their apparent prisoner and, after a second, moved to stride idly closer to where the man is contained. He sniffed, once, gaze inquisitive. "…Hm. Spicy." Whatever he meant by that, the empath did not care to elaborate. A flick of tail followed and then the vampire began to pace, listening in to words exchanged between the others.

Satoshi accepts the papers gingerly, eyes never leaving Tirona. "Thank you again, Starling. You're welcome in my home any day. So long as you don't eat the servants." She doubts the avian would do such a thing, but the warning is something of a requirment considering the types of people she allows into her peculiar house. Papers in hand, Satoshi turns back to Derry and approaches his cell, thoughtful. "Do you want to wait until an unbiased writer can be found, or do you wish your freedom today, written at the hand of one of the Coterie?"

Derry said to Satoshi, "If the contract is going to be with you, seeing as how you have all of the cards, I would suggest you write it yourself. If you want the assurance you can have."

Satoshi nods simply. "Very well." With that, the kit produces a quill and inkwell from her satchel and begins scrawling out the contract in her best script--which is, unfortunately, not the prettiest of writing, but at least it's got plenty of needless curls and loops for the sake of a magical contract. Once completed, she holds it up for Derry to read, and make certain the terms are as he had also agreed. With his approval, she'll say, "Not to be melodramatic and such, but signing with your blood is best. I'll do the same."

Derry glanced over the document, the chicken scratch that was the writing on it was difficult to read, even for a vampire. Nothing taken for granted, Derry takes his right index finger and pricks it one of his elongated canines. Using his finger as if it were a quill, the vampire signs his name,"It is done."

Tirona nodded, stretching his arms above his head. "An interesting prospect. But eating your servants is not likely an issue. Now, if you will both excuse me, I have a meeting in Larket and I would at least like to be able to be in that area before my wings break off. I shall be in Kelay for the rest of the evening should you wish to continue our other conversation," he said the last part with a nod to Satoshi.

Kirien , leaning over Satoshi's shoulder by this point, stared pointedly at the contract which he (un)fortunately could not read at all. He was nosy like that.

Satoshi said to Tirona, "Until then, Starling~."

Satoshi resists the urge to elbow Kirien in the ribs and repeats Derry's action with her own bloodied fingertip, signing with blood mixed with her own and her sire's. Sparks of amber, azure, and crimson magic course over the paper, sheathing it in a casing of arcane gold before it coils up into a scroll and is bound by a ribbon of light. Ah, theatrics, this is why Satoshi adores magic. "It is done." Satoshi takes hold of the magical scroll then, secrets it up her sleeve, and turns to regard Derry through the bars. "You're free to go then."

Svilfon tips his hat to the avian in another absent gesture.

Kirien would probably just shove Satoshi into Derry if she elbowed him. He'd shifted his gaze to eye the avian for a moment before raising a slightly greyish hand to him in a half-wave. "Starling. Bye." At least now he had a feeling to pin to that nickname.

Tirona Tirona nods to the pair before snapping his fingers, disappearing into a ball of light.

Tirona disappears with a magical aura surrounding him.

Derry said to Satoshi, "You speak as if I could just walk through these bars."

Satoshi gives Derry a sidelong look, not certain if he's making a joke or not. Either way, it does bring the ghost of a smile to the kit's features and with a flourish she invokes the arcane command needed to release the lock, allowing the door to swing open. "If you were ghost, you could have. Pity about the lack of cliffs, eh~?"

Derry walked through the doorway of his cage, raising a brow to the female,"What is with you and cliffs?"

Satoshi said, "Would you prefer a pack of wolves? I've got options aplenty."

Svilfon spends a long moment eyeing Derry as he's set free, before offering the vampire a tip of his hat. He turns to his coterie companions and speaks quietly, "I'm going to go break some stuff." He flashes a small smile, before turning on his heel and heading back out into the perpetual snow-storm that is Frostmaw.

Kirien still behind Satoshi, placed his hands on her shoulders and peered over the top of her head at Derry. "What's wrong with cliffs? They're fun." There was a particularly mischievous grin, but not a malicious one.

Satoshi -does- elbow Kirien then.

Kirien bit one of Satoshi's ears. Gently.

Derry said to Satoshi, "So... whom is all in this little band so far?"

Satoshi said to Derry, "Kasyr, myself, the wizard, and this nuisance over my shoulder." Kirien gets another nudge for the bite. "And your former cellmate, although she won't be around much longer. Her sentence wasn't as light as yours."

Derry nodded slightly,"I see..."

Kirien said, "I ain't a nuisance," before suffering another elbow jab in the ribs which prompted a huff in response. He watched Derry though, curious; and he managed to resist nipping a little more sharply at Satoshi's nearest ear in retribution.

Satoshi weasels her way out of Kirien's hovering reach and heads toward the bridge back into Frostmaw's city proper, walking backwards so that she can ask Derry, "Any other questions? Kasyr's more suited to laying down the Coterie rules, being the revenant, but I can fill in on the task, otherwise."

Derry shook his head,"No.. I shall ask him myself."

Satoshi shrugs. "Suit yourself. Enjoy your freedom. Welcome to the family of sorts. Stay away from cliffs. All that~."

Kirien pivoted smoothly about to circle Derry once, apparently inspecting the man before he'd begin to head out the same way as Satoshi. He'd cast a glance back to the other though, following up his sister's remark with, "Don't listen to her, the cliffs are fun. Play around on 'em some time-- but don't slip," and the ghost of a grin. "It's a long way down after all. But the fall is pretty fun."

Derry walked towards the door of the prison area, Edan slipping out from under the duster of the male. Snapping his fingers, the book responded in an instant, its pages flying open and spewing forth flames onto the vampire. As they appear to bathe his entire presence, they seem to consume him, pulling him and the book into another spot as they vanish.
