RP:Cenril's New Clinic

From HollowWiki

Summary: Alvina and Emilia run into each other on the beach with their children. Emilia, the newly appointed leader of the healer's guild, tells Alvina they are building a clinic in Cenril for the guild. Alvina eagerly congratulates the Gensai while their daughters play.

Cenril Beach

Emilia sat in the sandy beach with her bare feet just far enough out that the waves washed over them reaching no farther than her ankles. With each wave the water would freeze into a thin layer before breaking away as the rest of the water receded back to the ocean. The Genasi was different in her appearance as of late with long white curls shaved from either side of her head and the remaining long locks twisted into dreads. At present these long mohawked twists were massed in a most messy of bun atop the healer's head. Her gown was replaced with a pair of faded trouser pants cut off just past the knee and an over sized off white long sleeve button down shirt of which the sleeves were rolled up to just past elbow. Were it not for the ice at her feet one might mistake the healer of a strange beach bum. Behind the sitting woman three children with deep green leathery wings and obsidian black hair played in the air tossing around a ball back and forth, or well it seemed the two identical boys with startling icy blue eyes were tossing it around the girl with the mismatched eyes of blue and green. The appeared to be early teenagers in size if judging the boys, the girl a bit smaller, perhaps twelve or so. The boys laughed and giggled while taunting their sister. That is until she started screaming a silent scream to the ears, but alarmingly loud inside the mind as she uses her gift against them. The boys clasped their ears and landed on the sand with screams of, “Mom, make her stop! She is doing it again!” in sync with one another. The little girl however, had caught the ball and walking off down the beach with it. The sharp cold voice of the Genasi hollering, “Lynn, cut the screaming. Boys, her turn with the ball.”

Alvina’d strayed off the cobblestone and grass padded side streets of Cenril roughly 10 minutes ago. She isn’t aware of the change until her step stutters on sand. Meadow, the wolf pup (aka latest Landon child), was leashed to Alvina’s hip and purposely tugging them away from the inner city. Alvina was... admittedly distracted and after the startle wears off from the change in terrain, she continues down the path Meadow is setting. The cool air leaves the beach more bare than usually, though Cenril is by no means Frostmaw in the winter, or vice versa. Her hair’s pulled back in a loose bun, spindly slivers escaping to conduct the wind as it sang past. The wolf pup heard Emilia before she saw them, but when she did, Meadow tugged urgently on her leash with a little yip punctuating each jerk. “Meadow!” Alvina frowned, catching sight of the Gensai and her children near the water’s edge. It was, undoubtedly, the ball that caught Meadow’s attention. “Em,” Alvina called brightly, moving closer to other pack without letting Meadow’s leash unfurl. Meadow will do her damndest to convince Lynn to show her the ball (whining and pawing at the ground, sniffing in the other girl’s direction with wide puppy eyes). “Hey stranger.” Alvina laughs. “What brings you and company to Cenril?” Had Alvina ever seen Emilia far from Frostmaw? Not often if ever. It was a strange sight to see her here, ocean waves slushing at her legs.

Emila turned at hearing her name calles by another voice belonging not to one of the three triplets. Bright blues landing on Alv brough a smile to those blue lips of hers, "Why, hello there Miss Alvina, pleasure to run into you today," the Genasi said slowly rising from her spot, taking a moment to dust the sand off her. Lynn watched the pup child with a sparked interest in those mismatched eyes of hers. The girl would move the ball up and over then down just to watch how the cub followed the every movement of the ball. With a twisted smile the started to throw the ball in the opposite direction, but found the ball snatched from her hand before she could make the pup run for it while leashed to Alv still. Em held the ball and glared down at the smallest of hers, "That is not how we play." The ball was then rolled toward the pup cub, "The littles do not handle the cold so well. Green dragons are not know for being in the wintery areas. Also, thanks to the approval of the Mayor the Healers' Guild has been working on building a Healing Academy west of the Inn," she belated answered the other woman's querry of her presence in Cenril.

Alvina nods in greeting to the Gensai and surveys the children with her once more. She was -most- surprised to find a being of ice on the winter beach. The bard waits calmly while Meadow eyes the ball, hunching down as if to take off running when Lynn shows her the ball. The wolf pup yips playfulling turning to and fro to follow the toy, body winding tight like a spring in preparation for the chase. But there is no chase, only a ball rolling towards her with little to no momentum. Meadow snorts, shaking her head and trying to nudge the ball back towards Lynn with her snout. Alvina, meanwhile, is having her question answered about why this Frostmaw denizen might be here of all places. “They’ve grown so much,” Alvina comments of the children. When last she saw them, they were being lovable terrors near Xalious. The town hall meeting where Josleen tried to get...something...to do with the Mage’s guild. A lifetime ago. She tries to read Emilia’s reaction to her children but the other woman is commanding them with stutterless authority. Mention of the healer’s guild snags Alvina’s attention. She was, long ago and who knows if it’s still the case, a member of the guild. Healing was her first love. “How is construction? Will you be moving here to help manage it or is someone else from the guild coming to keep shop?” The ball is now out of Meadow’s reach and she whines, pawing the ground while her tail wags weakly behind her.

Emilia turned to look at Lynn with that motherly 'you behave' look while she spoke, "Play nicely with the cub and do not go about poking into its mind trying to instill nightmare dreams, got it?" There was a reason that Em kept a more stern nature with the little of hers as she was more of a chaotic child like her father was. The boys were off in the distance building what looked to be a sandcastle of sorts. Spitting mirror images of each other enjoy the beach, even if it was wintery here. It was less wintery than Frostmaw was. Turning her gaze back to Alvina the Genasi nodded, "Sabrina vanished many many moons ago and since I have spent most of my time in my home city of birth, Larket, working on rebuilding and expanding the guild so that it would not fall into ruins. As it were I have went from assistant leader to leader with the goal to brining about a location safe for all healers...those with magic...those without...those who use both..." There was a pause as she looked down to Lynn making sure the child was behaving. At the moment she appeared to be on the outside tossing the ball toward the pup and playing with Meadow. "I will have a space at the new Academy here in Cenril, though I don't think I will spend all my time here. Traveling and what not seems to keep me busy. I will be looking for teachers within the guild, possibly outside of it for the different classes I would like to host there. Many, many plans, but perhaps I have bitten off more than I can chew?" Her eyes again watching the children play off in the distance then back to Lynn, "Lynn doesn't talk, though she can. She prefers to use her gift and communicate through a telepathic link. She also is not always friendly about it."

Alvina stares, wide eyed with alarm, at Emilia’s warning not to ‘instill nightmare dreams’ in Meadow. “Uhhh…” She says, lamely, to no one. Emilia doesn’t miss a beat. She fills the bard in on the latest happenings with the healers guild. Alvina frowns at mention of Sabrina. She’d always been a wonderful healer but she travelled so much these days. Cenril would definitely benefit from a healing clinic here but… “Congratulations on the promotion.” The red head grinned, slacking back into a comfortable mindset. Emilia’s daughter wouldn’t give Meadow nightmares….right? “I’ll have to get on Hudson for not mentioning the construction.” She teases, since Hudson is in ‘real estate’. It makes sense that the new leader of the healer’s guild wouldn’t spend a lot of time, personally, in Cenril. Alvina’d guessed but finds herself a little disappointed by the news. Mid-conversation, Alvina unclips Meadow’s harness so the two girls can have more room in which to play and hopefully avoid the boys. “It sounds like a lot, but the healer’s guild, and you, are quite resilient. I’m sure it’ll fall in line soon. And I’m here with the kids more than anywhere so, if you need a hand with things, I’ll do what I can. I’m not sure if my membership kept renewing after all these years but even so.” Cenril could use some good news. It would be hard for the witch hunters to protest a healing clinic, though she has no doubt in her mind that they’ll try if they catch a WHIFF of magic nearby. Emilia’s magics are far stronger than her own, so she has no fear for the Gensai or her little ones. Emilia’s news about her daughter is curious. She doesn’t talk...with her mouth but her mind? “Oh no,” Alvina furrows her brow. What did she mean by ‘unfriendly’? Was it the same as the nightmare comments before? The bard shoots another look at Meadow, who appears playfully energetic and happy to have Lynn’s attention. “Does she got on well with the boys? Are you thinking of enrolling them here in Cenril? The schools are wonderful.” She waits a beat before continuing. “Are they here with you for long?” Had Emilia finally gotten her children back or was this just a visit? Alvina remembers that night she’d found Emilia walking around in the snow. Barefoot and broken, heartbroken about her children. Criticizing herself too heavily, doubting her maternal capabilities.

Emilia nodded at the statement about the congratulations, "I've been leading for some moons now, but we haven't spent much time together for me to share, but thank you," she replied softly watching as Meadow was released to play with Lynn. Em was hopeful she would play nice with the cub and more hopeful she would keep her mind to herself, but it was hard to tell since the Genasi didn't share that mental ability as her offspring. The running and chasing of the ball between girl and pup soon changed as Lynn shifted into her deep forested green form of a young dragon about the size of Meadow, perhaps a smidge bigger and with wings. Em hadn't seen that before, but so far it didn't seem that Meadow was scared off by the change or it could be that she was still more interested in playing ball with another. The boys could be heard laughing away as they played content within their own world together. Turning focus back on Alvina, "I do recall seeing your name in any of the records, but a many were lost when Ara fell before needing rebuilt and I have no doubt that you would tell a lie about it. I can admit you back into membership immediately. I haven't clue at your healing skills first hand, but you mother many and that brings about an entire world of knowledge. Adeptus minor, I believe would be a fitting starting position for your return, Magical practice or herbal practice as a primary for you? Or dual?" She questioned while digging into her side pocket and pulling out an insignia to offer over to Alvina, "I will have the enchanters get right on customizing you an herval pouch of your own. And yes, it would be lovely yo have your help at the Academy once it is up. It will be a lovely and gloriously beautiful place with room for all and safety for any healers, witch, magic, and herbal." The Genasi had began to ramble with her thoughts bouncing back and forth in topic, but she believed to have everything answered while watching the littles at play. So far, not outward sign of misbehaving.

Alvina waves off the concern Emilia shows for not having the bard’s name on record. “It really is fine, I just haven’t been working in Frostmaw as much as I used to. Could be a good way to get out of the house while the kids are at school.” Getting back to her roots held a certain appeal to Alvina. She’d grown since the days she sang in taverns and healed strangers. The last person she healed was...a very big job. Life and death, even. She thinks of replacing Pilar’s leg with one of her contraptions and when Krice pierced his lung on slick stone. Ara was such an old name. It sent another nostalgic pulse to her fingers. When she was cursed, when she was alone, making and healing were all she wanted to do. The bard lifts her hand as if being sworn in. “I would never lie about such things.” Emilia knew this about her and Alvina knew it, but hoped her confirmation would further solidify her belief. When Emilia asks Alvina her method of healing, the bard pauses. How would she describe it? “Dual, I think.” She’s able to push heal in emergencies but it drains her drastically. Being a mother also meant she usually carried small vials of various balms and elixirs. She used to use her satchel but it wasn’t really fitting unless she was traveling alone. A herbal pouch sounded -excellent- by comparison. Emilia’s excitement over the guild’s expansion is endearing. Alvina smiles warmly at the other woman. She could tell the Gensai was passionate and in a much better place than she had been compared to a couple years ago. Alvina will assume it’s in part due to her children. Speaking of which...Alvina turns to see Meadow and a green dragon (presumably Lynn since the girl is nowhere in sight). Meadow appeared unphased, overjoyed even to have a kin-like playmate. She couldn’t rough house with her sisters much but Lynn seemed energetic enough to keep up with the wolf pup. Alvina takes the insignia after confirming everyone is playing nicely and turns it over in her hand. “It’s been so long…” She whispers between them, to no one. The Fold, once again, flashes through her mind. The early days. The beginning. Ten years here in Lithrydel. A lifetime and a blink of an eye. “Maybe a day care would be fun to include - who better to watch children than healers. I know the healers in Frostmaw -loved- fawning over Harper and Luna when they were born. Good experience for future mothers in the making.” It’s a loose suggestion, Alvina won’t be bothered if Emilia brushes it off for the time being. “Truth be told, I wouldn’t mind making prosthetics again.” She was getting the itch to feed that mechanical mind of hers. “Maybe I can even learn a thing or two from you. If you’re willing to teach me.”

Emilia smiled a warm smile hearing that Alvina would be happy to take up ranks within the guild once more. It always brought a smile to the woman's face when someone wished to learn to mend the world over destroy it. Blue eyes turned to watch the pup and young dragon playing around the beach, rough housing with another over the ball. It was good to see her daughter finally playing nice and enjoying herself for once instead of being a bully-brat. Turning her gaze back to Alvina she smiled brighter, "Oh, Alvina! What a wonderful idea. A most wonderful idea! I will make sure to have that looked into on how we can add a daycare in. It would allow the healers so much practice, especially with the younger folk. Not very many can manage the little ones with their focus spent on the older folk. Brilliant!" she declared as she lifted her stump up before quickly switching to her left hand to give the other woman a thumbs up gesture. Even with her right hand missing for some time now she still accidently went to use her right hand for gestures. "I will have your pouch in the works and to you by next week. It will link to my greenhouse in Frostmaw. As long as it is in stock there you will be able to summon the herbs to your need," she nodded giving an explination of the item before she was even able to gift it to the other woman. There over those faintly silver flecked cheeks a hint of blue flashed for the briefest of moments, "Me?" she questioned more to herself than the other lady. Running her stump over her dreaded locks the Genasi nodded, "Of course, I am willing to teach you and anyone else that asks to learn from what I have to offer. I am sure we could both teach each other a thing or two. We have a meet and greet coming up here in the near future so that the guild members can get a chance to meet each other and learn a bit about one another. You and your littles are more than welcome to come. I will have an owl deliver you the date, place and time this evening."

Alvina, no longer a shy child, still found herself blushing at Emilia’s enthusiastic compliment. It had been so unexpected, this joyous energy from the Gensai. Emilia’s faint blue blush and modesty causes Alvina to erupt in laughter. “Of course you! You saved my daughters.” Reflexively the bard touched her dress where the silvery scar still shined on her skin from the procedure. Her werewolf transformation had been able to heal her entire amputated arm but the scar from Emilia’s expert word, remained intact. It was only the fiercest magic that could withstand the curse. “And my life.” Emilia’d been the one to demand Alvina be removed from the bathtub filling with blood. There’s no telling what would have happened if not for the healer’s deft skill and swift intervention. Hudson may have lost all of them that night. The mention of a meeting calms the bards nerves and she nods. “I look forward to it. The girls are in an interesting phase right now…” She admits, in a tone that suggests she’d try to avoid bringing them. “But Meadow is harmless.” Speaking of, Alvina looks up to watch their daughters still tumbling gleefully around with each other and after the ball. HOW CUTE! She wants to cry with joy, even when Meadow flops down on her back in the sand, panting heavily. From this angle, it looked like the wolf pup was smiling. “They became fast friends.” She observes to the other healer before leaning down to call her daughter back to her. Meadow hesitates, she’s having so much fun, and puts her ears back with a whine. “Meadow,” Alvina starts in a motherly tone. Meadow yips a whine but crawls back towards the women on her belly across the sand. No doubt Alvina’d have to give her a bath now. She wonders if Meadow’d done so on purpose, out of her own brand of defiance. But then, Meadow was just a baby still. Alvina latched the lease back on the pup and smiles up at Lynn. “I guess we’ll have to get them together more often. Meadow’s not even that playful with her own sisters.” A beat. "Please do send an owl! I can't wait to get back in touch with everyone." Veterans and newcomers alike.
