RP:Blue Skies Ahead

From HollowWiki

Summary: Lanara receives word from Queen Lunalesca of Enchantment that a pair of juvenile blue dragons aren't getting along and they will be euthanized unless the witch can work her magic and get the brothers to behave. Originally, the pair of dragon eggs had been inherited from Scandal, and Lana had gifted them to the Queen to be her future protectors of the land that had helped to prove her innocence during the trial of The Woodland Witch versus The Realm. Not having much time to devote to the dragons as her own life is on the line, Lanara finds aide from Kailani and Orion, who vow to train and protects the dragons at all costs.

Part of the Lunar Tides and Silver Linings Arc

… A Week Prior…

It had been a year since the witch’s soles last stepped upon the soil of Lithrydel, and as much as things had changed, they had also remained much the same. One thing that had been a constant in all of Lanara’s life had been her empathic abilities, regarding animals. So it was no surprise that Lunalesca, the Queen of the Fairies, had beckoned the witch for an audience and given her a surprising update.

Dearest Lanara,

I apologize for bothering you with this, but I do not know where else to turn, as very few have been blessed with the gifts that you possess. The eggs that your brother gave to you upon his passing, which you left in my care when you left the lands, have hatched and produced two male bronze dragons. They are healthy, excellent flyers, and they are steadily growing bigger with each passing day! However, they are reaching their juvenile stage and are beginning to show serious aggression towards each other, and though we have tried to intervene, we haven’t been successful. As you know, full grown bronze dragons are very arrogant and impatient beasts, prone to lashing out with magic or by physical means if they feel threatened. I know that you gave them to Enchantment, so that one day they will become guardians of the land, but unless we can get them under control, we will have to euthanize them.

Best Regards,

Queen Lunalesca of Enchantment

Lanara had read the letter three times and immediately proceeded to the magical kingdom, to assess the situation, only to find that her efforts were futile. Using her empathic abilities greatly weakened the dying witch, and she had been unable to use any of her magic, as that was the first life force that was targeted by the plague she carried. The dragon brothers were too feral without any real guidance or discipline, and they wouldn’t respond to any of the drastic methods she had tried. Lana then proceeded to Venturil, as her late brother had a home in the lands and a library that likely contained vast amounts of knowledge pertaining to dragons. As luck would have it, Scandal’s home had been demolished for whatever reason, and so Lanara had headed to the Fallen Star Inn for a little rest. It’s there that she has an in-depth, and slightly inebriated conversation with Cuthwright, and upon hearing about her problem, he agrees to pass on a note to a couple living in the wild that could likely ‘help’ with this situation.

Hello,

After speaking with the barkeep, I’m hopeful that the two of you can assist me with two bronze dragons, in Enchantment. They are young brothers, very territorial, and they aren’t responsive to training. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue for my empathic abilities, however I’m unable to contain –both- of them and working with them separately hasn’t gained much improvement. I have been feeling under the weather and magical means are not an option for me, either. Queen Lunalesca said that if this matter isn’t improved soon, she means to destroy the dragons, and I cannot let that happen. You both are my last hope! Please, send word to me at the Green Fairy upon receipt of this letter.

Thank you,

Lanara

…Present Day…

Lanara sits before the hearth, opening a letter that arrived a few hours ago, an unreadable expression on her fair face. It’s midday at the tavern and mostly everyone from Enchantment seems to be present, most ordering lunch, a few ordering ale, and a couple of stragglers that are performing random acts in hopes of earning some coin to be able to purchase food and drink. The woodland witch isn’t there to dine, nor is she on a break from some menial task, but she has come precisely to check with Capendor to see if the strangers back in Venturil had replied to her letter. Someone had replied to the letter, but being that the couple she reached out to are unnamed strangers, and that she’s not familiar with Cuthwright’s penmanship, it could have been any of the three’s handwriting. The eyes of the witch are wide as she reads the last line, “Wait… That’s TODAY?! Right about… NOW?!” In a flurry, she tosses the letter into her knapsack and runs out of the tavern, all the way to the place that the others had designated in their letter. The bronze dragons were currently contained in an area not too far from the mystical stream, which is where she had been directed to wait, and so the witch is hopeful that it means they are here to assist, rather than slaughter the poor beasts. Clad in a pair of black jeans, a white tank top beneath a yellow cardigan, and wearing a pair of ankle boots, Lanara takes a seat on the lone bench beside the stream. Crossing her legs, she toys with the hourglass pendant about her neck, and studies her surroundings, anxiously.

It is not every day that Kailani and Orion have visitors at their little camp, which is half of the point out in the wilds. Cuthwright will not be met with hostility when he braves the approach of their home if only because it becomes quickly apparent that he is here to pass on a message from someone by the name of Lanara? The name Lanara does not seem to register in the blue-haired druid’s mind but there is a particular line within the letter that catches her attention. “They are thinking about destroying a pair of dragons,” which of course causes Kai to frown immediately upon reading and she almost promptly looks straight toward Orion. It is that tidbit of information that solidifies Kai’s decision within her mind, “Do you feel like traveling down to Enchantment, Ori, and playing with some dragons? Or at the very least convincing them that their death is pointless and that there are plenty of other courses of action to be taken?” Her blue-eyed gaze is still intent on Orion, except that frown has curved up into a soft smile as she considers, “It is kind of pretty down there. I am sure we can find a nice place to camp out for a few days after we are done helping.” The druid shrugs in a noncommittal sort of way. A day. A few days. No days. There were some perks to having more nomadic leanings. Cuthwright is just going to have to wait while they work this out, but presumably Kailani earns some manner of agreement. Otherwise this would be a short story, aye? As for word back to Lanara? Given that Orion and Kailani both have the most informal form of housing that money doesn’t buy, neither are likely armed with clean parchment and ink. Lanara will get that notice that they will meet, but it’s going to come in Cuthwright’s handwriting. The day of their meeting comes and Lanara is going to be quite hard pressed to miss their arrival. She will first notice a griffon (Grimclaw) in the sky, mostly white in color save for his black wings, and flying next to that griffon is a young blue dragon (Aspen) who is without question still growing. By now Aspen is too large to cling to Kailani’s shoulder the way he did when he first hatched, but still has considerable growing to do before the druid will be able to fly with him. Which means, OriKai are both arriving in style on the back of that griffon. As they land on the banks of the stream, Lanara’s face begins to register in Kai’s mind, only vaguely, but enough that she’d mutter for Ori’s ears only, “I think I might know her.” Except, Kai would not be quick to dismount to go find out for certain, she was just going to let Ori hop down first.

(Post 1 of 2) Orion Dynjapsa was in the middle of cleaning up his luscious beard when the stranger approached. The half elf/half avian kept a careful eye on Cuthwright as he continued his grooming, slowly and carefully dragging a sharpened axe blade on his cheeks. He kept quiet as he listened to Kailani's words. After a quick swipe of the blade across his pants he finally smiles, "Let's do it. I haven't had a proper visit of Enchantment yet so this would be a great way to get a little more familiar with the land." The early morning of the meeting had Orion and Grimclaw hunting to make preparations for dealing with a pair of dragons. The pair brought home two large deer. Orion broke the deer down and packed the various cuts into leather sacks that would be attached to the griffon's saddle.. Grim and Aspen would get some treats, of course. A small breakfast was prepared for Kailani as well, complete with a dozen blue roses.

(Post 2 of 2) Orion wasn't one to dress to impress. He kept to his normal black leather pants, a small double bladed axe hanging from a belt loop, and a warm winter wolf vest with no undershirt..typical Orion. As the family arrives at the meeting place, Grim makes a super dramatic entrance. The landing is fierce but smooth. Aspen tries his best to replicate his brother's entrance but it's just not as smooth. Instead of a solid landing, the dragon slides just a little bit. Orion quietly applauds him before sliding out of the saddle. Kailani is offered a helping hand as the bardbarian looks about the area, "Let's find out, yeah?" The bearded one directs Aspen and Grim to hang tight. Before the pair make their way to Lanara, Orion plucks a couple of flowers near the stream. One for his beard and the other for Kailani's hair. Now they are ready for whatever adventure lies ahead.

Lanara hadn’t been expecting an aerial arrival, so it’s no wonder that when the griffon and blue dragon make their descent, that the woman will be found with her lips slightly parted in awe as her wide eyes take in the couple and their magnificent mounts. A few of the residents of Enchantment that are in the general vicinity of this occurrence run for their lives, pointing and screaming that they are in imminent danger, and that the witch is up to no good again! Lanara pays them no heed, as this area has greatly aided her in the past and everyone has been on high alert since the Kelvarian refugee’s were making a home on their land, and the fact that two adolescent dragons were threatening to set the village aflame if something wasn’t done soon. Orion is the first that garners her attention, as he’s a male and she’s often aloof around men. There’s a hint of hesitation in her gaze, but nevertheless, she takes a step forward and extends a hand to make introduction, “I’m Lana, and I’m so glad that you both decided to meet with me and take a look at the boys.” It’s obvious she holds the bronze beasts in high regard, as she spends more time ogling Grim and Aspen, than she does making eye contact with the two strangers. Kailani is approached next, and Lana offers a smile to the blue haired woman, as they had met briefly about a year prior up in Xalious. Strangely, that event included a dragon, as well! Again, a hand is extended, “I am –awful- with names, but I believe we met a while back! How have you been? Please, call me Lana.” Once the introductions have been made, the witch inquires, “Would either of you like to rest? Have some food and drink? Or would you like to proceed to the dragons?” She’s aware that they had traveled a great distance and that they aren’t from this area of the realm, so she takes her guests needs into consideration before they get down to business.

Kailani is slowly coming to the realization that maybe she does not need to wear -all- of her armor, all day and every day. Today she wears no armor. It crossed her mind given that they will be tangling with potentially aggressive dragons, yet since the end goal was to train or charm rather than to eliminate. Much like Orion, she is not dressed to impress and has picked function over fashion, even down to the color selection. A very practical black from blouse, to pants, to boots. While she brought her weapon along for the trip, the griffon and dragon currently are guarding that belonging. The fearful reaction of a few select residents does not escape Kailani’s notice, yet she does not pay them any heed. They were running away from Grim and Aspen, rather than toward them. Perhaps if that detail changed, she’d feel more concerned and protective...but for now? She’s comfortable enough to travel away from the duo, traveling alongside Orion as they move toward Lanara. There is a brief distraction when the bardbarian places a flower into her hair. Breakfast and roses in the morning? And now a flower in her hair? The druid is about to show her appreciation for the romantic gesture by stepping toward Ori for a bit of smooching and shmoozing, but Lanara flitting closer to them brings her back to reality. Orion is just going to have to settle for a quick peck to his bearded jawline before Kai turns to greet Lanara. Introductions are clearly being made, yet the rather reclusive druid misses the cue completely and just fails to offer up her name. She’s a bit hit or miss in these social areas, but it is never with the intention of being rude. At least she thinks to shake Lanara’s outstretched hand. “I believe that we did meet a while ago, yes. I am glad that you’ve reached out to us. I hope that you and yours do not mind the company that we have brought along. And I hope that we might be of some help to you...” As Kailani shifts to talk of food and drink, her gaze has traveled back up to her beau, “I am happy to proceed to the dragons, but…” The trailing off of her words is quite intentional as what Orion might prefer to do mattered to her.

Grimclaw and Aspen are quick to get rowdy. Kids, I tell ya. The two creatures start playfully growling as they circle one another. After Kailani's quick kiss, Orion smiles brightly to his love but then sticks his two pointer fingers to the sides of his mouth and lets out a quick loud whistle towards their children. Grim and Aspen stop immediately and return to their parents' sides. Introductions. Right. At first Orion begins to reach for Lanara's hand. Realizing he just had his finger in his mouth he quickly wipes his hands on his pants then reaches out yet again. No. That's still not quite right. "Uh.." The bardbarian hesitates for a short moment before offering his elbow instead and with a bright smile. "Orion. This is Kai.." He gets lost in Kai's eyes for a moment. "..lani." There we go. Nice and awkward. As the two women briefly chat, Orion side eyes Grim and then Aspen as a firm warning to behave. If not, no belly scratches before bed. “I am happy to proceed to the dragons, but…” Orion's attention is focused back on the conversation before him. With a quick rub of his stomach he replies with, "Oh, I'm still full from our breakfast, love." He playfully winks at Kailani before clearing his throat. He looks back at Lanara, "Big breakfast and such." He stands on his tip toes to get a slightly better view as he scans the area, "So where's the good boys?"

(Post 1 of 2) Lanara keeps a watchful eye on the couple, as they are still strangers and she’s cautious around everyone these days, but there is a cheeky grin on her fair face when she spies the bardbarian plucking flowers for his blue haired lady. It’s heartwarming, and despite the fact that they are foreigners to this part of the world and live like hermits, it’s a clear sign that chivalry is not dead. Had Tiber ever picked her a flower? There was the incident with the Yule tree a few years ago, but he had sort of made up for that by bringing home a poinsettia. Kailani is well mannered and reserved and Lanara doesn’t take any offense to the fact that the woman ignores the shaking of hands, likely due to the fact that she’s not accustomed to that type of introduction. At least the witch learns of the woman’s name, from Orion, but unfortunately, Lana thinks it’s in parts with a dramatic pause in between, “Pleased to meet you Orion and Kai…” A painstaking moment passes. “Lani.” As the pair declines a meal or rest, Lana ushers them a short ways down the path and peers over her shoulder to motion to Grim and Aspen, “Will they be alright by themselves? Or do you think they will get along okay with Atticus and Dante?” The bronze dragons hadn’t been socialized with other animals as of yet, and they didn’t get along with each other either, but perhaps adding a griffon and a blue dragon to the mix may make them feel less like an alpha. Lana waits for the pair to decide if they wish for their companions to enter the sturdy gates to their left along with them, as they are the hired experts for this particular problem. Once decided, she gives a nod and proceeds to the unique locking mechanism and mutters a few words in Sylvan, before the gates unlatch and her guests are beckoned inside.

(Post 2 of 2) A lush garden rests beyond the gates, the foliage glistening with late morning dew, as if this particular area of Enchantment had been perfectly designed to control the temperature at which its inhabitants would be most comfortable. Various types of trees, shrubs, and flower beds line a gravel walking path, and a short ways down is another set of gates and a massive few acres that are enclosed in a domelike structure of impenetrable glass. From this vantage point, the trio can see that on the left resides Atticus, standing regally atop a small hill and studying them with his wondrous gaze. To the right is Dante’s area, and currently the dragon is nestled in the tree tops, with only his tail idly twitching from time to time to give any indication that he’s awake. Atticus is tall and lean, whereas Dante is shorter, but has a much wider wing span, and the pair have opposing personalities as they can easily tell, just by how they behave in their section of their enclosures. Dante prefers solitude and is aloof with visitors, whereas Atticus is inquisitive about everything and the more active of the brothers. For now, Lanara allows Kailani and Orion to judge the pair for a few moments outside of the dome, as part of teaching is also learning! “You cannot see it, but perhaps if either of you are magically inclined, you can feel the hum of power that works as a divider.” A magical barrier had been put in place once the dragons started to become aggressive with each other, but it works well as each has an equal amount of space to roam, rest, eat, and do whatever adolescent dragons enjoy doing in their ‘off’ time. Lana glances at Kailani and asks for her opinion first, since she knows her slightly more than the male, “Do you wish to meet with them one at a time, first? Should I lower the barrier? Or do you wish for me to allow them both from their enclosures and we can move to a large field?” The village of hobbits isn’t too far off, and they had allowed the witch to train the dragons in the past, however the risk of escape is much higher. After hearing Kailani’s input, Lana gives a curt nod to Orion, “How do you think it’s best to proceed?”

Kai...lani was apparently not going to even consider correcting her name. It’s not that the druid gets lost in Orion’s eyes, she’s just a little bit hung up on something he said. Oh we’re using that four letter word now, are we? For a second it looks like Kai was going to say something to Orion and then she doesn’t, the subject moves on. Where are those good boys? Why yes, let’s start walking to them. During this walk, she’s only half paying attention to the questions the witch is asking and the explanation being given. Should Apsen and Grimclaw tag along? The druid nods her head yes without actually putting much thought into the matter, look. She’s preoccupied. It’s all Orion’s fault too! Grimclaw and Aspen were already in the process of trailing after the trio to begin with, for they usually go wherever OriKai goes. If Orion has other thoughts, pops can speak his mind. Kailani is just going to have to marinate on things during the short walk but by the time they reach the dome the druid seems to have found some of her senses. The druid walks right up to the dome, trying to pay a bit more heed to what Lanara is saying, and idly taps a finger on the impenetrable glass as a frown weighs at her lips. She was not a fan, but then there was a lot of things about “civilization” that Kailani just did not care for. “Have they always lived within the dome? Or were they placed in here when they started becoming aggressive?” The druid crinkles up her nose as she considers if they want to meet individually first, or go straight to the fields with both dragons together. “I think that...maybe they would feel more comfortable with our presence if we were to interact with them first? But one way or another we will need to see them together.” Kailani keeps her gaze trained on the inside of the dome, studying the dragons from a distance first. “I would be lying if I said that I had zero concerns about the request, specifically when it comes to using my druidic abilities to charm the dragons over. I am sure you are aware that the Druid’s Tree has been badly damaged, which has hindered the abilities of many...but even if the Druid’s Tree was back in good health? Dragons are very sentient creatures. They are prone to resisting attempts to charm them, and even if it was effective…? There is no guarantee that the effects would be permanent, or that someone would not tamper with the magic behind it. Either situation could be disastrous.” Kailani turns back to face both Orion and Lanara, “Are you sure that you completely trust the trainers that were working with them? And that they have done everything properly? Training and building a bond would be a better approach, I would think?” Listen to all of those words that just came out of Kailani’s mouth. She’s got a couple more though, as just like last time she is looking to Orion for him to give his two cents on the matter. Kai’s also going to pull a page right from Orion’s book. She learned this trick just a few minutes ago! “What do you think, nin meleth?”

During the walk towards the enclosure Orion was sure to give the two boys a stern talking to. The bardbarian walked backwards to face the boys when he directed some orders to them. It sounds more harsh than it is. His tone is soft, sweet, loving, and respectful. He reminds them to mind their manners and to stick close to Lanara when the dragons are in view. You know, incase a quick escape is needed. For the most part, he let Kai do the talking. He even chimed in with a 'tsk tsk' as the barrier is tapped upon. He will keep his opinion to himself at the moment. However, he had a quick thought, "Perhaps we should meet them at the same time, but keep them separate..to avoid any jealousy.." He looks between the two women before being lost in Kailani's eyes for a short moment, "Do you want to meet Dante while I go to Atticus?" Why not match the nomads with dragons similar to their own personalities? That should help, right? Whether anyone agrees with his suggestion or not, Orion calls Grimclaw to his side. Two perfectly cut hind legs of a deer are pulled from Grim's side saddle bags along with two large slabs of meat. He drags one of each to Kai before returning to Grim to get the same cuts for himself, "Hopefully they are just hungry for a quick snack," Ori says quietly before waiting for any additional information from Lanara. So far, Orion has been keeping his emotions and excitement under control. Calm and cool on the outside, ready to ride the back of a dragon while throwing flowers to everyone in Enchantment on the inside.

Lanara can sense the displeasure emanating from Kailani and Orion, and she sighs, because when she had returned to the lands and found that the majestic beasts had been placed into cages, she hadn't been happy either. Dragons deserved to be respected, allowed to explore, and if the villagers have hopes that the two will defend their land, they had a backwards way of showing their thanks. Lana rarely contains her own familiars, and some of them are downright devilish and have no business running rampant around the lands! "Hopefully, once they learn to tolerate each other, they can again be free to roam and fly and hunt, because being inside of these enclosures is hindering their natural born abilities." The enclosures are suitable, spacious and created with care, both securing the dragons and the outsiders from any harm. To Kailani, the witch lifts a single shoulder in a half shrug, "Aside from their twice daily feedings? I don't think they've been worked with all that much. I wish I hadn't had to leave the lands for so long, but I cannot undo the past." She would if she could! "I know their female handler would come in the mornings for a feeding and a few times a week she would take them, separately, for a brief flight in the fields. Their male trainer took care of tending to the cleanliness of the enclosures, nightly feedings, any veterinary care they required, and supposedly he tried to 'train' them and gave up after a few attempts." Orion seems to want to meet with Dante, and Kailani with Atticus, and so the witch nods her head and unlocks both doors, "Go on in, but please be careful! I will wait with your two boys, near the doors." A faint smile is given to Grim and Aspen, as she takes a step back to observe what the two newcomers can make of this situation. "Good thinking..." She murmurs pleasantly, regarding the 'snacks' that Orion had thoughtfully brought along for this training session. Lana blinks at the blue haired womans words, and she wonders if 'nin meleth' is a form of endearment in another language. If she knew the couple better, she may have inquired.

There is much that Kailani could say in response to the details that Lanara has just given but the druid will wait until she has actually interacted up close with Dante. It’s probably evident to Lanara that the half-elf is still displeased with the information that she is being provided, though it is not the witch that is receiving the brunt of the druid’s judgement. Kailani’s frown shifts into a soft smile when Ori is thoughtful enough to bring the haul of snacks closer to her and the druid collects the haul for Dante, with a bit of effort. Look, she was not the muscled one of the two. She manages though. The gates are unlocked and Kailani makes her way inside but before she ventures off to Dante’s side of the enclosure, she leaves Orion with one more look and another warm smile. With the description of Dante in mind, Kailani is not overly forward in her approach. The druid positions herself within clear sight of the dragon and creates a trail of meat cuts leading back to her...and then she sits on the ground and she waits. The largest and most tempting pile of meat is positioned directly in front of Kai. If Dante wanted it, he would have to get very close to Kai. At this point in time, Kailani was not using any of her druidic abilities to try and lure the dragon closer or charm him over to her side, though the dragon can probably sense that the blue-haired woman in his space is a friend of nature. Sensing this detail and caring about this detail are two very different things, especially with dragons. It’s no guarantee to Kailani that he will respond favorably, a detail she is keenly aware of. As curious as she is as to how Orion is faring with the curious Atticus, Kai keeps her attention on Dante and Dante alone. It was a waiting game at this point but patience was something that Kai had plenty of. The goal was for Dante to invite himself into Kailani’s space.

Orion kisses at the air towards Kailani as he enters the enclosure. The bardbarian turns around before completely stepping in. Initially he wanted to turn around to offer Lanara some comforting words for the situation but it was game time. The bearded man clears his throat as he throws the deer hind leg over his shoulder and drags the large piece of meat at his side. "Atticus, huh? That's a strong name..Atticus.." Orion keeps repeating the dragon's name as he turns back towards the dragon's area and starts closing the distance. The bard starts humming Atticus' name into a calming tune, but not for the dragon, just for himself. The hums are full of bass and a few octaves lower than a normal speaking voice. As Orion gets closer to Attitcus' hill, he stops and admires the absolute beaut. "Hm." The half elf shrugs then gets to work. The leg is dropped from his shoulder to the ground but the large chunk of meat starts getting torn into pieces by his own hands. Every chunk torn is thrown under hand in the general direction of the dragon. Just before the first chunk is thrown however, Ori looks up and whistles to the dragon as if he were calling a puppy to his side. The bearded man smiles brightly regardless of how the dragon reacts. He has a new appreciation for dragons since becoming a father to a certain Aspen. He's also well aware of the potential danger he could be in. Adrenaline is one hell of a chemical. The grouping of the chunks of meat thrown start to form a pile, not necessarily a path leading the dragon towards him. As the last chunk from the slab is thrown, only the hind leg remains. He has an idea -if- Atticus takes to the pile of meat well. Ori makes it a point to seek the dragon's eyes out then looks to the hind leg. Once more back to the dragon then back to the deer meat. Ori's smile brightens as he reaches down to grab the leg by the hoof then whistles once more to Atticus. Tug of war, anyone?

(Post 1 of 2) Lanara stays on the exterior of the enclosure, alongside the couples companions, and although she's known to fawn over animals great and small, she keeps her gaze trained on the forms of Kailani and Orion. Placing her trust in people often led to heartache and disappointment over her near two hundred years of age, but they are her final hope for the dragons, and so she worriedly gnaws on her lower lip and keeps a close watch. Aspen and Grim, for the time being, are ignored, but thankfully they remain perfectly obedient as their masters focus on making their acquaintance with the magnificent bronze dragons.

(Post 2 of 2) Dante lifts his head from atop the tree, his tail twitching in annoyance as Kailani enters his area. It isn't feeding or exercise time and the blue haired druid is a stranger to him, so immediately he's on high alert. The trail of meat cuts is surveyed, but he's a creature of habit and knows that this rare 'treat' likely comes with some sort of cost. The longer she waits for him to near her personal space, the more he is inhaling her scent and studying her with hesitation. Play time is foreign to Dante, and being the quiet and aloof soul that he is, it seems as though he doesn't have any desire to approach the woman. Meanwhile, over on the opposite side of the division, Atticus is tilting his head from side to side upon hearing the voice of the bardbarian. Who is this singer and why is he bearing delicious gifts? Being far more bold than his brother, he eagerly moves from his place upon the hill and swiftly descends to the pile of torn meat. The offering is first sniffed suspiciously and upon not smelling anything foreign, save for the scent of Orion, a tentative bite is taken. It's delicious and Atticus cannot help but gloat about this moment, as he glances over at Dante's side to see if his brother is willing to partake in what Kailani had willingly given. Dante ignores his brave brother, yawns and shifts his position, and lazily descends from the treetop. His already massive wingspan aids in his landing and after the audible 'thump' is heard, he slowly stalks nearer to Kailani. Upon arriving at the first chunk of meat he digs a talon into the tender cut, marking it as his territory, and he loudly hisses at the blue haired woman. If Kailani shows an ounce of fear he will hurl the chunk of meat at the woman and possibly issue an attack, but if she remains rooted in space and earns his trust, Dante will greedily gobble the venison and move a little closer. By this time, Atticus has finished gorging on the pile of meat and is curiously shifting his gaze from the deer leg to Orion and back again. He's easily entertained and the game of 'who' will win the carcass piece has his overactive mind going into overdrive! Without further delay, he makes a dart for the hind section and sinks his teeth in, attempting to tug it more to his 'side' and out of Orion's grasp.

Did Lanara think she was going to be able to ignore Grimclaw and Aspen? Wrong! Sure, they are both good bois who are listening and keeping close to the witch as instructed...but they are both quite social and curious. Well, at least Aspen sure is. The griffon is older and more mature (lol) than his dragon brother and manages to remain oriented on what Orion is doing. The very young dragon follows instructions and remains next to the witch, but he also keeps bumping his head against her leg gently. The message the blue dragon is trying to send to Lanara is hopefully clear. It's something like: excuse you, Lanara, pay attention to me. From the moment Kailani set foot into Dante’s enclosure, the druid was fully aware that the meeting with the dragon could turn sour. A bit of hissing is not going to get the slightest rise out of the blue-haired woman. Kai would be as steady as the element that she preferred to channel and a bit of a hissing is not going to stir her. She would wait patiently, stealing no glances toward Orion and Atticus despite the amusing ruckus she heard of there. Blue eyes would occasionally train themselves on the earth with the hope that the lack of a direct stare would make Dante even more comfortable with her, but her gaze was never averted for too long. Just in case. As Dante eases into his approach to her, Kailani begins to speak to the dragon. Her tone is gentle but even, speaking to the dragon like she fully expected it might give a response. Maybe he would tell Kailani something? Kailani was certainly hoping so. “Ori and I are here today because we have been told that you and your brother are not getting along.” There would be a pause, trying to judge the dragon’s reaction to her voice. If he did not seem to mind, she’d go on. “It seems that you two have very different temperaments.” Another pause to feel out how Dante was handling her voice. “We are hoping that we can figure out a way for you two to get along better. I am guessing that he is considerably more high energy than you? And you have no appreciation for it?” Druids were odd sometimes, what with their conversations with animals. “We’d also like to take you both out together to see how you behave with one another.” Thoughts, Dante?

Orion's bright green eyes light up immediately as the dragon makes his move to get a grip on the deer meat. The bardbarian grips the hind leg firmly with both hands as he gets into a half crouching position to ready himself. The hind leg is held to the side just before Attitcus takes hold. Atticus bites and Orion digs his feet into the ground to brace himself. Hopefully Atticus has a tight grip because Ori puts all of his muscle into trying to remain planted on the ground. "Yeah ha!" Orion gives the deer leg a hard pull as he puts all of his weight behind it,"Oi..Gimme this!" Ori tugs and gives some leeway before pulling back, laughing the whole time. As long as Atticus would allow it, he would keep the dragon entertained. Ori even makes it a point to rub an exposed tooth for shiggles, "Yeah. You're a good boy, huh.." All the while, the scene closeby wouldn't go unnoticed. Kai and Dante were having a small heart to heart. It may be about time for the same. Eventually, Orion lets go of the deer leg, giving Atticus the victory. He then holds an open hand out to Atticus as he attempts to pet the dragon's cheek. The bardbarian's tone is soft, "Atticus..How do we get you two to tolerate one another?" Orion looks over his shoulder to Kai and Dante, "Kai and I have opposite personalities at times but we make it work. We compliment each other. There's got to be something both of you can agree on and bond over.." The bearded one smiles, "We won't give up on you two. We'll figure this out." Orion turns to face Kailani and offers her a slight shrug when she looks his way. Turning back to Atticus, Orion smirks, "I'll bring more treats next time." With that, he makes his way out of the enclosure to regroup, humming another peaceful tune on the way out. Occasionally he turns around to get a couple more looks of Atticus, "What a beaut.." Finally back with his boys and Lanara, he says, "I don't know what Kai wants to do next.."

(Post 1 of 2) Dante seems to drop his act of dominance as he realizes that the blue haired woman isn't fearfully exiting his enclosure, though rather than meet his death glare, she speaks in soft tones and speaks to him as no one has done before. Of course the Kelvarian Elf had tried this, though her efforts were futile, but she didn't have bright hair, nor had she brought venison as a peace offering. Dante is intrigued by Kailani, and so his talons dig into the soil and he cautiously closes the distance between their forms. His advance kicks up a plume of debris as he snatches each of the chunks of meat and greedily swallows them whole, before he arrives at the leg, and it's then that he cocks his head to the side and considers the woman's words. His reptilian head is lowered slightly as he paws at the detached thigh of the deer, though his telepathic connection with Kailani is made, and he delivers a reply, "He has much more energy and never lets me enjoy some time in the sun, always disrupts my naps, and he tried to take -her- from me... She will be my mate one day. I saw her first, but was too nervous to approach, and he stole her attention... I would very much like to be free for a little while, even if -HE- is present." That is all that is offered, as he continues to dine on the offering, his alert gaze drifting between the druid and his snack. What female is he speaking of that he is crushing upon? Was there a third bronze egg that Scandal hadn't give to Lanara prior to his death? Perhaps in the nearby field lived another female dragon, and the brothers were in competition?

(Post 2 of 2) Atticus continues his lively display of bobbing his head and swaying his tail, delighted that someone is playing tug-of-war with him, and he all but forgets about the issue at hand. Dante could have the soft speaking druid and his quiet time, because Orion is bringing the action, and playing with ones food is a blast! As those razor teeth sink into the leg, he shakes his head to and fro, giving the bardbarian a run for his money, as even as a juvenile, his strength is impressive. They are almost of equal in that department, as Atticus still has a ways to grow and train, but this is a game and he knows well enough not to clench too tightly or harm the male. The compliments have the young dragon nearing closer to the man, and as he 'wins' the game, he hungrily gobbles up most of the hind leg. However, a decent sized chunk is tossed to the feet of Orion, and an expectant look is offered. Atticus enjoyed their playtime and rather than take the reward for himself, he had saved some for the man. Clearly, he isn't as possessive as his brother, and some would even say he enjoys the company of those that visit his enclosure. He thrives off of the energy of others, however, if Dante is to be in his immediate presence, the two make every little thing a competition. Gently headbutting Orion's palm once he pulls his hand back from brushing against his cheek shows that Atticus has somewhat formed a bond with the bardbarian. Once Orion is fully outside of the enclosure and speaks to Lanara, the witch gently pushes Aspen's muzzle away and tries to have a conversation. She is going to have bruises on her legs from the blue beast but it's obvious that she is enjoying the attention. If only she could get the brothers to behave in this manner! "Do you think they are able to be rehabilitated? Atticus took such a liking to you, and I have never seen Dante come this close to anyone." She had made the right call in seeking their help, and a faint smile is on her lips as she waits for Kailani to give further direction.

(Post 1 of 2) Kai remains in the enclosure long enough for Dante to explain himself to her, the druid even braves reaching out to see if the dragon would accept a bit of affection. She’d let her hand trail down the side of the dragon’s neck if she could, giving him a quick little pat. “I will ask,” she reaffirms to Dante before following Orion’s lead. She also made her way out of the dragon’s space, soon joining Lanara and Orion outside of the enclosure completely. “You know Dante can speak, right? In a sense. At least to those who are open to listening. I would assume that Atticus can too.” The blue-haired woman looks toward the dragon that she did not have a chance to converse with before sliding her blue-eyed gaze up to Orion. It’s a curious look that is pinned on the bardbarian. Did Atticus say anything to him? She assumed no, based on what she knew of the man. A grin pulls briefly at her lips as she teases Orion a bit, “Sometimes Grimclaw tells me things too.” Back to business though. Kai’s grin is gone. “It’s not them that needs to be rehabilitated,” the druid tries to explain to the witch. It might sounds like Kai is judging, but she does understand that this situation is no fault of Lanara’s. “But their situation. It’s not just a matter of them having conflicting personalities. They each need to have their own individual who is willing to dedicate as much time to them as needed. Not just someone who views themselves as a trainer, but someone who will count them as a friend. They both need to feel like they are being treated equally in regard to everything. Down to time outside of the enclosure. I might try letting Atticus out first, so he can work through some of his energy. Then take Dante out, so they have time together for a period. Short at first, but as they learn to get along better, that time should be increased. And then give Dante his own quiet time. Jealousy and competition is an issue. But even if you do all of this…? The biggest issue they are competing for is a female. I am not sure what female and where, but this is what Dante has said. I am also not sure if Atticus has this same perception.” Kai’s now looking between Lanara and Orion, “It is up to you two if you think we should pull them out in the field or not.” Well. Namely Orion in Kailani’s opinion. The dude with all those muscles is probably the one who will be stuck dealing with any dragon drama if they start fighting. “Regardless of if it is in our company, they want this time…”

(Post 2 of 2) While Kai had been looking between Lanara and Orion to get an opinion from the both of them, it seemed that the bardbarian would offer not much but a shrug, differing all of the planning back to the women. Kai lifts a brow but then focuses her gaze back on Lanara, issuing a half-smile to the witch. “I suppose the most sensible decision is perhaps for Orion and I to figure out where we want to set up camp and then once we are settled we can return and continue the work.” At least some preparations had already been made, as Kai was hoping to spend some time in Enchantment. What she was not anticipating was that this job was more complex than she thought. If all of this seemed agreeable to Lanara, then Kai would set about locating a temporary campsite for her family.

Lanara understands that the dragons can speak, though to be frank, she hasn't spent all that much time in their presence since returning to the lands. Mostly, because she has more pressing matters on her mind, such as the fact that she has to get a billion things done before she dies, and time is seriously of the essence as she doesn't have much life left! Idly, her fingertips return to the strange talisman that rests just above her cleavage, and she watches as Kailani and Orion discuss what to do about this predicament. The dragons are jealous of each other and bickering over a female?! Lanara knows a little about sibling rivalry as Talyara is equally as gifted with her magic and at times it can get frustrating as they both will want to take the reins in certain situations. "I know they like to hang out just north of here, before the Hobbit territory, so I'm assuming that during their play and exercise times, they could have made a female friend." Kai smiles at Orion and it looks as though the male is leaving the decision up to the females, and Lanara nods in agreement once the blue haired woman offers that they will need to spend time with the dragons, both inside and outside of their enclosures. Plus, in order to ease the competition, they will at some point have to speak with the female dragon. "That all sounds wonderful, please know that I will do everything I can to accommodate you both as Enchantment and myself are eternally grateful for your efforts." A dip of her head is offered, as they have both earned her respect, "If there is anything you need, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Queen Lunalesca." The witch would then show them how to operate the unique locking mechanism and point out where the storage shed is that houses any food or bedding that the dragons would require. She then parts from their company and heads over to the apothecary, as she had arranged to meet with an old friend later in the day.
