Part of the Rise of Larket Arc

Summary: War rages on in Larket, the Fermin sent a new wave and new idea of how to get food from the humans of Larket. In they went to the sickbay, slaying the guards and kidnapping children.

Road to the Town Square

The Larket's personal witch known as the Apothecary to those that live in Larket had spent her day in the sickbay helping those she could...upon returning from her lunch the witch heard the screams within. Running into the sickbay laid the slain bodies of the Larket guard she had left in place to guard while she left just for a few moments. The bodies were gutted, and looked to be chewed on, no blades were used but the fermin's own claws and sharp pointed teeth. Four children were being dragged down a hole the creatures had created, screaming and cries echoing throughout the sick bay. As Artia had put the very sick and or dying in this spot, saving the concert hall for those with soft injuries compared to those. The children they took were getting treatment for the plague that was inflicted on them during the night, there parents found dead with the four hiding under the floorboards of the tiny home. Outran Artia screaming the top of her lungs for the other guards to come and assist her, but the witch been them to the town square. In the center she saw a large group of about eighteen fermin trying to make a meal of the children as they did with any that got infected. A curse spread out from her full ruby lips, without thinking of backup the witch took off into a tight sprint. Being a druidic witch, the flora nearby responded the trees swaying and moving to try to block the path of the fermin of escaping her grasp. But knowing well that artia could not handle this large of a group alone, the trees sent there roots to moves under her feet. Keeping her off the ground with an advantage. Running and sliding along the root the witch jerked off her necklace of withered vines, that quickly came back to life. Growing and placing thorns along the stem as the witch thrashed the whip around aiming to behind the first fermin she came upon. Wrapping around the neck she jerked the fermin hard, this one holding tightly the tiniest of the four children. With the strength behind the jerk, off flew the head of the fermin landing a few feet behind her. Grabbing the tiny child, and tossing the human child as hard as she could up to the air. Immediately a root shot up, wrapping around the child encasing it in a hut of its own making to keep it safe. Once such done the others scrambled some to the south, north, east and west. Turning the witch ran over to the root hut, tapping it revealing the crying shaking toddler.

Emerus really had no reason to be in Larket other than to just see it, but upon his arrival things were quite out of place. The screaming of children and victims alike, it alerted the wood elf to the fermine attacking openly atop the surface. It was the screams of the children that promted the elf to act, thus he gripped his bow tightly and yanked an arrow out of its quiver. With quick hands and a quick eye, he shot one of the fermin in the torso, not killing him out right. He gritted his teeth and pushed the fact he missed out of his mind, running up to Artia and the toddler now with her. "Are you alright?" he asked. He had to make sure before he took off after the fermin to the west. His ebony bow remained in his hand, gripped tightly while an arrow of the same intense black rested in the other. He kept his ears alert to any sounds worth noting, catching glimpses of others brought by the commotion.

Sparky wasnot accustomed to rat men walking around, but then again he wasn't accustomed to amlot of things, or the fact when he was bumped the rat, got zapped and the whatever he was carrying went flying, he had only time to catch it, to doiscover it to be a child. "Now where did you come from?"

Thronnel sauntered north towards the Larket town square, hands in his pockets. Despite the warnings he'd received of danger, he had decided to seek out the witch that as said to live here, anyway. He could handle himself. As he entered the town, though, he found a scene of chaos. There were corpses strewn about the street, including that of a giant headless rat. A pack of the giant rats were headed straight towards him. He pulled his right hand from his pocket and with a snap of his fingers a wall of earth shot up behind him. "Going somewhere?" The rats, which he now saw were vaguely humanoid in shape, stopped their charge. The four looked at each other, as if debating whether fighting a mage was something they could do, without a mage of their own. Thron didn't give them the chance to make their choice. With a whispered word, a small rock floated up into the air. He aimed his finger at one of the fermin and, upon his mental command, it shot forward and punched a hole straight through its chest. The other fermin squeaked in alarm and ran in the other direction, splitting north, west, and east, while their comrade bled out onto the cobblestone. Thronnel stepped up to the dying fermin and sneered. "Disgusting creatures."

Shishi and the nuisance bat Wakka stroll in from the north, the creature clinging to the vampire's arm. They had been walking through Larket with the knowledge that the Fermin were being a menace while spreading their plague in this ‘hood. The so called Blue Demon did not want to miss a chance at some murderous revenge on the rats that had taken him captive and tried to turn him into vampire-meal in their meat grinder down in Mouse Town, and if someone in Larket wanted to pay the assassin for it then even better. There's a rather large group of the mice-men that he was here looking for rushing towards him northward. It only takes a split second for the cursed assassin's eyes to shift from their usual shade of oceanic blue to a glowing crimson, the change accompanied by a visible pulse through every shadow cast in Shishi’s immediate proximity. With a slight sidestep the vampire moves out of the way of one of the Fermin and taps the creature on the side of the head as it passes him by. After a few steps the rat tumbles to the ground motionless as shadows seep out of its head through its nose and eyes, slithering on the road back towards The Blue Demon who makes his move to chase after the other Fermin fleeing in the direction he had been approaching from.

Krice had decided, for reasons that were his own, to venture into Larket this evening. Though he was aware of the town's problem with the rat race, he didn't seem too urgent in his approach; dressed in his usual attire with his katana strapped to his back, however, he was clearly ready to engage in a fight with anyone, fermin or otherwise, who posed a threat. Screams of urgency hit his ears as if they'd been directed right at him point-blank; he snapped his gaze up and forward, noting the commotion ahead. Whilst others took care of the fermin still within the vicinity, the silver-haired enigma opted to go for those who had broken clear, sprinting past the scattered group of saviors--closest to Shishi--to descend around the wall of a building where the scent of fermin was strongest. A flick of the wrist deftly withdrew his back-mounted katana from its sheath and directed the blade through the skull of one fermin and then a second in the same, fluid motion. These two had lagged behind a larger group which carried one of the sickly children away. Wasting little time to see if he was accompanied by another rescuer, Krice ventured onward to liberate the young one from his captors.

Gilwen had heard the panicked screams just as she turned on the pathway that lead to Larket from Sage, and within a matter of seconds, the elf was in the area. Lacking knowledge of the situation, she sought out the familiar faces of Krice and Shishi, but it was the former of the two she called out to. "Krice!" Her pace hadn't changed, and she jogged to catch up to the warrior. "What's going on? What's happened?"

Artia looked to the elf that moved up to her, standing a tall five foot seven even as she had neglected wearing her shoes this day. "I am fine, but the children! They need to be found, those creatures are fermin. They will eat them, they are infected with the plaque they created. I have the antidote but, they were taken before I finished giving all of it to them." The witch looked towards the Larket guards as they came running up to Artia, "Take this child back to Ikked, she will know what to do. If you would please.." Only once of the guards responded as they took off in the direction of the Enchanted forest and any spots the sewers may have access to the surface. Looking towards the zapping sound nearby she saw one of them get zapped unconscious, the child being caught by the creature she had met a while back, "Sparky...carefully put the child down..carefully." Shaking her head, "Two children are still gone.." The rumble of earth was alerted by Artia, sensing the flora being moved about. Looking to the one that caused it, a wall of dirt like she could summon was up in the air, put instead of her dirt it was rocks. It was different to see someone else using a skill she used, but then he attacked one. Luckily the fermin were not allies with this person, her eyes not helping but to read anyone's aura in the facility. Shaking her head as the creature was laying dead, "They are nasty..and made to be that way." Speaking to Sparky, "Sparky head the way the elf left, go help him find another child if you can. I am trying to keep more of the Larket people from dying because of these.." She paused, "These creatures!" Artia made a fist, in doing so her element of air responded to her anger, swirling around her in a warm caress. Another stranger in Larket, who again luckily was not aligned with the fermin, a simple touch...a tap..and boom. How the heck did he do that? She would have to bug the male at another time as he had already took off, with relief Artia seemed to caused enough of a scene that others were helping assist without her even asking. Then another time it happened again, a hand to her chest as she was relieved Larket just might recover with others like this. Closing her eyes she whispered to the trees of Enchanted forest, they would be her eyes and continue to whisper to her. Moving up to Thronnel, "Will you come with me while I search? An extra set of eyes and wits would not harm."

Emerus nodded his head and took off to the west, whistling for Sparky to follow him. He had no idea what dangers they would face, but he would face them head on and trust his bow. He wasted no time and didn't even look back. His sprinting was graceful and fast, and he kept his eyes peeled for any signs of a child or the fermin that managed to escape.
