Part of the Larketian Fault Lines Arc

Summary: After having heard much about each other, Xzavior and Josleen meet for the first time. Knowing that Xzavior dislikes the King, Josleen is already predisposed to dislike him, and he does nothing to change her opinion. The feeling is mutual, a Xzavior finds her prissy.

Fort Freedom

Xzavior had been stopping by the fortress more and more frequently to give a helping hand with the injured and to see if he couldn't find himself an odd job or two to help along the progress for Larket. Though, he hadn't been here often, the place used to be like a home to him at one point. There couldn't be any reason not to help. Even if he was still suspicious of the King. Satchel at his side, he moved along through the tents, checking his supplies as he went, looking around and making sure no one was in dire need of a healer or something like that. After reaching the end of a row of tents, he went and sat on his coils as he started reorginizing his supplies. By order of Sabrina last night.

Josleen returns from her trip to the spa flanked by four royal guards and the Prince Pooch, Gigi, poodle and gentledog. Gigi is sopping wet and shaking loose a spray of water every few feet. The Queen is about to pass Xzavior without noticing him, but the naga's tail and then the naga himself draws her attention. She recognizes him as Sabrina's friend, and the naga who Macon said is suspicious of him. "Hello. You're Xzavior, aren't you? Sabrina's friend?"

Xzavior lifted his head, carefully sweeping some dried herbs away from the water sprayed everywhere by the dog. Raising a brow at the queen before giving a nod and saying, "Indeed I am." Taking a moment to place away the supplies so none would get ruined, he tossed the satchel over his shoulder as he went to stand, "And you'd happen to be the queen." More of like a recognition of status and less of him asking who she was. He'd still, however, pass her a bow in greeting after he stood.

Josleen nods at his bow, as is part of the ritual. "Indeed. You efforts to care for the wounded are appreciated." She considers taking her leave, but, knowing Xzavior's poor opinion of the King, she cannot. Her loyalty to the King beseeches her to pry. "Though I must admit I am surprised. I heard through the grapevine you have no love for the King."

He bobbed his head side to side as he considered that for a moment. "I've personal reason to find fault in him. Though I should state more as a person then as a king." after a second he explained, "As a king I've nothing against him. As far as I know, he's been doing a hell of a job. However, outside of that I stand by what I say."

Xzavior's candid response surprises her. Josleen's lips purse as the naga finds fault in her husband. And who is this naga to talk? What right does he have to pass judgment on a King, especially one as admirable as her King? "And 'faults' do you find with him?" She sneers the question, and the guard know to sneer with her.

Xzavior only smirked when the sneers were passed his way. He was all too familiar with condescending looks and quickly passed judgement. This wasn't his first ride down that path, giving an over exaggerated look, he let out a heavy sigh, "Oh, but my queen, who am I to harm such delicate ears with the harsh words and opinion of men." Dropping the act just as quickly to dawn a flat look, "Especially when I know what sort of reaction is to be expected from one such as yourself. From most anyone for that matter. 'He's a snake, who's to trust him. His words against a king's.'" He could go on and on, but he doubted he needed to. "No matter what I say I'll be met with ridicule and disbelief. Thus, why I brought it to the king himself instead of blatantly expressing myself to the public. Had I meant true harm, I would have made an attempt already." Shifting his bag, he went to move away from the queen, the same uncaring look on his face, "So I suggest you let me do my thing and help your people or you're going to lose a pair of hands that are willing to get bloody so your delicate fingers won't have to touch the dirt."

Josleen looks unimpressed when Xzavior mocks her. What brutish company Sabrina keeps. The naga starts to move away, but not before slinging a little more mud her way and making assumptions. Josleen's hands have been bloody as a healer in three wars, but she doesn't tell him that. He isn't worth the Queen defending herself. She leaves as well, with an even lower opinion of the naga than she had previously. Gigi trots after her.
