From HollowWiki

Summary: Pilar plays piano to mend her broken heart. Phaedra stops by and gives her a gift to cope.

Hanging Corpse Tavern

Strains of music filled the air of the Hanging Corpse Tavern. A young vampire sat at the piano. It had been several days since her heart was shattered, and another day since the wound had been open anew. She was trying to move on, to get over it, but it was hard, so hard. She was running low on cash, and had decided to play for tips like she hadn't done in awhile, hoping it would take her mind off things. It sort of worked, but her mood found its way into her playing, and the music was slow and sad.

Phaedra entered the tavern, that familiar feminine grace to her step as she headed towards the bar. Hearing the music it seemed to stop her in her tracks. Running her indigo hues over the piano player she recognized Pilar straight away. Walking over to the female she quietly placed a cold, delicate hand on her shoulder as she was worried about the female. "Are you OK lovely......It seems someone has broken your heart as the power from this hurt radiates from you as we speak." She felt as though she needed to help the female and as kind as Phaedra was, that's indeed what she intended on doing.

Pilar stopped playing for just a moment when Phaedra touched her shoulder. She resumed, slightly more tense than she was. "You do not know? That someone was your sister." A passing patron dropped a couple coins into her cup. Pilar offered them a smile and a nod before her eyes went back to the keys. "You saw us together at the ball. You saw us together yesterday. Things have changed so much, and in so little time..."

Phaedra looks sadly towards the vampire, she knew something wasn't right but she didn't know the full extent. "Tell me what's happened pilar....If its to do with my sister tell me...." At that moment it would seem that when she had touched pilar, visions began appearing in her minds eye and sadly she looked back to the vampire. "That's right she wants to be a mother.....That's why all this is happening." Running her gaze over the vampire Pilar would be able to tell that Phaedra genuinely cared and she didn't like seeing the female so upset. Muttering a few words, Phaedra help her hand out and out of nowhere a red rose appeared in her palm. It wasn't a normal rose but full of magic that almost glittered like diamonds. Handing the rose to pilar she had hoped maybe that would cheer her up slightly. "This flower is special....It helps with heartache keep it on you and instead of your heart hurting the rose shall whilt." Offering a fanged smile she waited for the vampires reply.

Pilar's song ended, but she didn't start another one immediately. She looked over her fellow vampire, so much like her sister... Slowly, Pilar took the rose. Almost immediately, she started to feel a little better. At the same time, the rose began to turn brown. It was a slow process, barely noticeable, but it was there. "Thank you..." She twirled the flower in her hands, thinking. "Your sister... did she use magic to... feel better? Is that why she... did not seem to care?"

Phaedra shakes her head in a reply. "No she did not.....I think the reason all this is happening is because of the loss of her twins.....She wants to be a mother and with a woman she doesn't have that option.....I'm sure she will be hurting too in her own way as she did care for you....and most probably still does...." Phaedra had a good heart and didn't like seeing others hurt that why she had done this exact spell for the vampire.

The rose in Pilar's hand wilted further as her heart started to ache. Artia hadn't acted like she cared. Maybe the witch was just better at keeping her emotions in check than Pilar was, a feat that was admittedly not very hard. Not that she wanted Artia to be hurting, but she had just been so cold, and it hurt.

Phaedra could understand her pain, many had died in her life that she had cared about and even a few loved ones had left her. Was the way the world worked, not everyone was the same. "Don't worry I can tell you now this will all blow over and eventually things will get easier between the two of you....." Running a delicate hand over pilars hair she new heartache wasn't the best feeling in the world.

Pilar looked up at the witch. Her other friends, who admittedly didn't have much reason to like Artia, had encouraged her to make a clean break of it. She wondered whose advice to follow. She did so want to stay friends, but she feared that nearness to Artia would keep her heart from healing and finding the freedom to love another. Pilar leaned into Phaedra's touch and wrapped her arms around her. She needed a hug right about now.

Phaedra hugged her back knowing that for now they had to stay apart as the wounds were too fresh, maybe over time they would heal. But for now it was obvious that pilar needed to heal first and maybe later on then they could try to be friends again when there were no feelings involved. "It will be OK we've all been here at one point lovely...." Holding her tightly she wouldn't let go until pilar pulled away.

Several moments passed before Pilar pulled away. She smiled up at the witch. "Th-thank you, Phaedra. You are very kind." Pilar turned back to the piano and began to play again, a more upbeat tune, this time.

Phaedra was happy to hear a cheery tune and was glad that she had been able to help. Tapping her foot to the beat she began moving to the music, her hips moving slowly from side to side as she hummed to the tune. Phaedra could sing but she didn't do it very often.

Pilar smiled at Phaedra as her hands moved over the keys. The magic of the rose seemed to be working, as she was feeling much better. It seemed that happier songs were not commonplace in the Hanging Corpse, as patrons had started to take notice and were looking over. Pilar didn't notice until she stopped, at which point she blushed.

Phaedra beckoned for her to play on, growling at the patrons as the obviously had no idea about music. Walking to the middle of the tavern she began twirling in a circle stopping slowly and moving those hips of hers to the melody. Still humming she continued dancing as she offers Pilar a beaming, fanged smile

Pilar smiled and resumed playing. It was another jaunty melody, one she had not played in a long, long time, not since her family was alive. Memories came flooding back, and despite her smile, a tear came to her eye.

Phaedra danced her way back to pilar seeing she had gotten a little upset again. Whispering a few words of magic a violin appeared beside the piano and started to play its own little tune. Phaedra offered Pillar her hand hoping that she would join her in a dance. Maybe that would cheer the poor lass right up!

Pilar was startled by the violin. When Phaedra came up and offered her a hand, she hesitated. She hardly knew Phaedra, after all. To her, she was just Artia's sister. Though now, she would be known as Artia's kind sister. Maybe... Maybe she could be friends with her, even if things were awkward between Pilar and Artia. Pilar took her hand.

Phaedra leading pilar into the middle of the tavern began dancing . Placing a hand on the female hip and holding the other hand with her own. Spinning pilar round in a circle she began to waltz and pillar would be able to see exactly how much of a great dancer Phae actually was. Now pulling her close she whispered into the females ear. "Whenever your sad come find me......And I promise to cheer you right up!' Muttering another few magical words it would seem that the lights dimmed in the tavern and all around them where sparkly pieces, floating around the two of them. "Magic has its perks lovely." Spinning her around again she hoped to of made pilar feel a lot better.

Pilar could dance, but she had never waltzed before. As they spun around, magic in the air (literally), she gazed up at Phaedra. The witch certainly was a beauty, the light shining off her silken hair. As they spun around, her eyes dried and she smiled.

Phaedra was happy to of made the female smile it had been a while since she had seen a smile from her. Reaching into her pocket she pulled a locket from inside handing it to pilar. "This I've had for many years......Tis a moonstone and protects those who are hurting.....Wear it but every full moon you must leave it in the moons light that way it draws anything negative from it....kinda like a dream catcher!" Smiling softly she placed the necklace around pilars neck doing up the clip at the back. "See it looks much better on you lovely.....Never lose or let anyone take it.....they don't make them like that one anymore...." Phaedra slowly spun her again in a circle both women would end up laughing as Phaedra wasn't normally like this, it would seem she trusted the female as she sensed indeed she had a pure heart and pure hearts needed protecting!

"Oh, I could not--" But the necklace was already around her throat. She looked down at the pendant, amazed that Phaedra could give such a precious thing away, and to a woman she had only met recently! "Th-thank you," she murmured. As they turned round and round, Pilar laughed along with Phaedra, for once not caring about the stares they were assuredly drawing. She hoped that Phaedra would prove to be a friend for life.
