RP:Alice The Merchant Part 1

Togo's Armor Shop

Alice whistled a merry little tune to herself, goggles up as usual, keeping her hair out of her face. That was important you know, having your hair out of your face. Especially when you were about to make a very important set of deals! She'd been fairly friendly with the fellow she was about to visit, in the past. In fact, he's who she'd bought her initial supplies from, to build her forge in the first place. Anyone in town could tell you, the new lass was a merry one, and a hard worker too, constantly out to lend a helping hand where she was needed. It was with that sort of heart that she had come up with this plan, in fact. It was a brilliant plan, in her opinion. Then again, she had a tendency to think all of her plans were brilliant... Whether or not they really were. In any case, it took little less than ten minutes for the woman to get from her forge over to the shop she had been heading for. A gloved hand pushed open the door, and her merry voice rang out as she had a good look around. He always had something interesting in stock. "Oi! Togo! Wakey wakey, I got ter talk to ye about somethin'. It's an' important somethin' too!"

Togo popped up from behind the counter as he heard the door opening and a familiar sing-song voice call for him. The halfling smiled as his eyes land on the smithy. "Alice! Good afternoon, miss." The halfling's smile was maintained as he asks, "What can I do for you? The important 'somethin' isn't bad news, is it?" The halfling could tell from the look on Alice's face that it wasn't. He let out a nearly-silent sigh of relief. "What can I do for you?"

Alice strode on up to his counter, beaming brightly. There was something to be said about a smile like that. Now that she's closer, he'd probably spot the large package strapped to her back, as well as the bulging satchel she had slung over one shoulder. "So I hear ye've been gettin' sorta boned as far as prices go with yer supplier, aye? Got wind o' tha' news from the Whaler's. Issat a fact?"

Togo blinked as Alice approached the counter. "Oh, I see." He began another smile. The halfling knew another merchant when he saw one. It was perfect: the opening line, the presentation of the problem, and now it's only a matter of time before Alice was to make a proposition of her own. "You're here for a sales pitch?" His hand is lifted to his chin. "I don't know how the situation with my supplier made it to the Whaler's gossip, but I think you may be exaggerating it a bit." Togo winked. "My supplier was supposed to be here today, but I just received another message that he will be late, again. How am I supposed to make profit when I have not stock? I'm sure you know what I mean, Alice." The halfling's gaze met Alice's cargo. "What's that on your back?"

Alice looked even more excited. "Glad ye asked! On me back, some swords, axes. Gonna be makin' a trip ter the weapons shop in jes a bit. I figure they could use me too. What ye want, is here. In this bag." She hefted up the bag with what was quite clearly an impressive display of strength, as the bag as by no means small. If he were to open it, he'd find that inside were masterfully crafted pieces of armor, of every sort. Gauntlets, shoulder pieces, knee guards, chest plates, leg plating, helmets, shields, you name it, she had it. "My forge is just down the street ye know. We could... probably make some sort o' deal here. Better fer you, better fer me, better fer Cenril!"

Togo made his way around the corner and to Alice's side. He lifted a hand, "No need to lift it. Let me see what you have here." The halfling opened the bag and peered at its contents. He looked up to Alice before pulling a shoulder piece from the bag and setting it on the counter. He examined the piece, flipping it every which way. Holding it above the counter, he tapped on it to hear a satisfying 'clack'. "You made this? Togo set the piece on the counter again. "This is incredible." The tiny being moved his gaze back to Alice. "Are you suggesting a regular supplying deal? I do have a good seat with my other suppliers, but these are fine pieces of work. What do you propose?" The halfling's expression is inquisitive, and though he knew he wanted this deal to happen, he must send the message that the price must be right.

Togo walked behind the counter again, glanced at the shoulder piece and brought his hand to his chin a second time. He grinned at the prospect that the price was to be named by him. The halfling ducked behind the counter, lifted a document and pushed it across the counter to Alice, "If you deliver these items to my shop at a 20% discount of what I'm paying currently, you have yourself a deal." Togo's smile faded as he studied Alice to gauge a reaction. "I think that is a fair price, wouldn't you agree?"

Alices's eyes darted over the paper a few times, having learned from her father many years ago never to make a deal without knowing the terms. Once she was satisfied that she wasn't being cheated, she grinned, and stuck her hand out to him. "The armor's all yours." She hesitated for a moment, before continuing. "Oh, an' I'll come by tomorrah with me shipment days. I have one more deal ter make, then I kin be sure what days I'll be forgin' on."

Togo nodded and extended a hand. "Then it's a deal. It is a pleasure. I will see you tomorrow." Togo was pleased at his newest transaction. This could be a great new change for his business. Higher profit or more customers are definitely worth it.
