RP:A Short Lesson

Kelay Tavern

Cerinii sighs softly, as she pushes the door open with her titanium hand. The titanium was a new thing. No longer silver, for the purposes of love. She glances around, still at the door. She wanted to see if anyone was there that she knew, so she could sit in the appropriate place.

Alvina looked up from her table as the tavern door opened, curious to see who else would be up and about at this hour, as most of the patrons had left not hours before, fully drunk and in need of sleep. As Cerinii becomes visible, Alvina stands, hand waving slightly in the mildly light place. "Good morning Teacher," she said, surprised by how her voice echoed in the empty place.

Cerinii dipped her head, in response to Alvina. "Good morning, student." She then, approaches Alvina. She offers her a faint smile, "How do you fare?"

Alvina extends her hand to silently offer Cerinii a seat with her, only if the avian sits will she. "I'm faring considerably well all things taken into account. And you M'lady teacher?"

Cerinii accepted the silent offer, lowering herself into her seat. "Ja, fine, fine." She says quietly, almost in a dismissive manner. She sighs softly, looking to Alvina. "How goes your studies?"

Alvina slides down into the adjacent seat, frowning slightly, before continuing with the offered topic instead. "They are going well, I have yet to meet again with Lord Trishtar for more practice, but I've been reading up on metallic properties and their values, uses...importance..." The bard's topic strays with a note of concern in her voice, "Are you truly all right?"

Cerinii nodded, "Certain of it." She looks to Alvina, "Und what can you tell me of metals, then?" She asks quietly. She then extends her titanium arm, placing it upon the table. "Examine it. Und tell me what you think."

Alvina again allows the subject of her concern to drop below the surface for the time being, "All right..." the girl agrees, shifting a bit closer to examine the metal arm Cerinii extends carefully. "I haven't had much practice with actual metals, just parchment examples," she warns, an offset off her current self exploration methods. She checks up with healers normally before submitting the knowledge to memory beyond a shadow of a doubt. "It's a milky sort of metal, the coloring..which leaves Silver, Platinum, or Titanium as the metal used in its construction. Logically, I'm going to rule out Platinum because of how expensive a metal it is..." The girl continues to look it over, tapping it lightly as if re-reading pages of her studies right before her eyes.

Cerinii sighs softly, "Metals can be decorated. As for platinum, it is only expensive if you buy it." She frowns, "Our line of work involves deals. Melbane provides me the metals, I require. As for this metal, he so named 'titanium' - it is rare in these lands. He found it near the meteor crash in the mines." She said. "Now, look more carefully at the colour." She places her pale digit upon the metal arm. "It is grey, hardly milky mein student.." She smiles, "Colour can be ein form of identification, but it is not always reliable. You should always test the metal. Bend it, or try to. That is how we are better off in our determination of metal."

Alvina nods instead of recoiling, "I've only read a sliver or two on titanium... The most current records speak less of metals and more of the Chaos artifacts..." She flips her hand over to lift the arm, the weight oddly light. No excuses came for her errors, for apology she was learning, was not a form of education. "By bending it, testing it's stability?" She asked, oddly comfortable with the lesson.

Cerinii nodded her head. "Watch." Her pale hand skims over the titanium appendage. She emits a small, "Ah," as she finds what she seeks. She pulls up the panel, revealing raw muscle and nerve. Large metal 'pins' stuck into it. "Alright. See this panel. Try to bend it, to test the strength. If it holds, then it is ein durable metal that can applied to our client or weapons we make."

Alvina accepts the panel after giving her attention to the contents beneath. A few months ago she might have cringed at the sight, but today she wrapped her fingers around the panel handed to her and tried, with no success, to bend it. The test complete, she hands it back promptly. "What about it's conductivity?" she asked, interested, "Is it easily manipulated by extreme temperatures or is it magnetic?"

Cerinii laughs softly, at the additional questions. She re-attaches it to the metal appendage, pushing it down to conceal what lay beneath. She smiles, "It cannot be magnetic, otherwise it would be unable to function on me." She smiles, "I would say it is difficult to manipulate under extreme temperatures. It's ein very sturdy metal, und for that I am grateful." She sighs softly, "As for conductivity.. It does well. It is not very conductive, but.. Still attracts some levels of electricity."

Alvina smiles, "Then it would be a poor choice for our previous project. Do you ever use metallic metals? I've not read a lot about them, but I'm curious to how their magnetic properties would be useful. Or if they are at all...." Brushing a small strand of hair from her face, Alvina looks up for a moment to watch the rambling of the other patrons around the piles of items being dropped.

Cerinii sighs softly, "I rarely toy with magnetic metals.." She frowns, "They are troublesome for me." She wiggles her metallic digits. "As they will be for you." She motions to Alvina's false appendage. "I used them to create ein safe, for ein client. But, they are difficult to use." She smiles, "You'll learn in time."

Jaize slithers into the tavern, trying to avoid the junk littered about on the floor. A look of digust passes over her, departing when she sees Cerinii seated just beyond the mess. "Hiding, have you been?" She cocks a grin and lowers her torso to give Cerinii a quick hug without changing her position.

Cerinii chuckles softly, embracing Jaize in return - tightly. She almost clings to her, "Sister! I have missed you." She chuckles, "I would never hide from you.." She winks.

Zeckar said to Jaize, "Ms?"

Alvina bit her tongue and kept silent while the Naga spoke with her teacher...

Jaize chuckled in return, "And yet, somehow you have not picked up the package I left for you at the palace..." A scolding finger is raise to tick back and forth quickly, "Dear sister, I believe you have been more withdrawn then you let on. Here..." Without another word, Jaize heaves a package onto the table top and shuffles it towards Cerinii. "For the life of me, it's been so long, I think I've forgotten the occassion this was meant for." Jaize then turns to lock eyes with the feline who has just addressed her. "Yes?"

Jaize gave 1 charm anklet to Cerinii. Jaize gave 1 diamond necklace to Cerinii. Jaize gave 1 Flowery pillow to Cerinii. Jaize gave 1 opal ring to Cerinii. Jaize gave 1 sapphire satin-gown to Cerinii. Jaize gave 2 waterproof lantern to Cerinii.

Cerinii glanced briefly to Zeckar, distaste for the man clear. She takes the package, unwrapping it carefully. She examines the objects, "Oh.. Sister. They are beautiful." She would look to Alvina, whispering softly in her ear.

Cerinii whispered to you, "Student, you must not show fear. If anything, keep your fear silent. Keep it hidden."

Zeckar said to Alvina, "Might we be able to talk?"

Zeckar said to Jaize, "I know nothing about him, not even a name."

Alvina waits another moment before nodding her head to Cerinii and then addressing the two whispering across from them. "Good...morrow Lady Jaize, Lord Zeckar..."

Alvina said to Zeckar, "I..I suppose.."

Alvina said to Cerinii, "I believe me and Sir Zeckar have something to discuss...I promise to return promptly."

Cerinii said to you, "Take your time."

Jaize darts her eyes to Alvina as she speaks, a wide grin on her lips. "Alvina," is all she says before redirecting her attention to her sister. "Think nothing of it, a small gift and apology for our lack of meeting. Busy are the time eh?"

Alvina told Zeckar, "Perhaps...some place less crowded would be best?"

Cerinii chuckles and nods, "Indeed they are. Und yet, I have nothing to give you. For that, I am sorry." She rises from her seat, objects carefully placed into her satchel. "Perhaps, we shall go elsewhere to talk?"

Zeckar said to Jaize, "It would do me good, yes.... but I meet him in two days, so perhaps a quick lesson or two before my meeting with him?"

Zeckar said to you, "Where shall we go Alvina?"

Cerinii whispered to Alvina, "Be careful. I do not trust him."

Jaize said to Zeckar, "You wear my patience...I cannot train you a defense or offense based on nothing. If you find out, perhaps it would better your chances of survival, and increase the productivity of your training..."

Jaize said to Cerinii, "It would seem best to try somewhere else...this place is suffocating."

Alvina whispered to Cerinii, "Nor do I, any longer..."

Cerinii said to Jaize, "Your palace, then?"

Cerinii whispered to you, "If you need me.. If he frightens you, call for me or come to me."

Zeckar said to Jaize, "I wear your patience? Ma'am, I have not seen you in these lands for a while, as my training came to a sudden stand-still. Perhaps if you were available then I would already be prepared to at least fend off this man."

Alvina whispered to Cerinii, "Of course teacher, I thank you..for the concern."

Cerinii said to Zeckar, "Ein teachers expects their student to have the iniative to learn by themselves."

Jaize grins, offering Cerinii a helping hand up. "No place like home..."

Cerinii whispered to you, "Ah.. don't mention it."

Zeckar said to Cerinii, "Who says I have not been swinging around this blade my teacher has generously given to me?"

Cerinii chuckles softly, taking the hand of Jaize very gently. "Let us go, then."

Cerinii said to Zeckar, "You do, by your clear fear of this man who threatens to strike you down.. Swinging ein blade may win ein fight, but that's just luck. Not skill. Good day, Herr."

Zeckar said to Cerinii, "No man threatens me, It is I who will be threatening him. Best mind your own."

Jaize said to Zeckar, "My acceptance of your contract was not that I would have to toddle you along through the entire process. As a somewhat knowledge creature I do not expect to be your single resource. Lessons instruct, but practice must be done on your own. "

Cerinii said to Zeckar, "You? Threaten? Mein, that is amusing! Do not run to your teacher asking for help to fend off ein man that /you/ threaten first. For that, is what ein child does."
