Summary: Valen and Valrae sitting in a jail...

Sandy Beach

You stand upon the stretch of sandy land, entitled 'Sandy Beach' by those who know it. Obviously a popular locale, multiple youths of Cenril wander about, socializing amongst themselves in simple, near-bare uniform. A man-crafted barrier of stone hedging works around the sandy lot of shore, standing at about four feet tall and a foot in width. The entire beach forms a 'C' shape, opening east to the sea, probably much of the reason why it'd be famous in Cenril. Skirting the barrier, the beach continues on north and south.

Irenic decided to come for some relaxation at the beach; a place that reminds him of home and can give him some time to clear his mind in order to focus. No telling how long he's been there scribbling his messy left-handed penmanship into a notebook causing him ignore the tendrils of hair drooping into his view. Narrow steel rimmed glasses rest upon the bridge of his nose so he may read from the plethora books sprawled between the gape of his long legs which are bent at the knee. A glance at the books reveal them to be building plans of some sort and blueprints from the public libraries. The sleeves to his black button down shirt were rolled up to expose the tattoo patterns which taper off in the middle of his forearms and the black & emerald diagonally stripped tie hangs in a loose knot under his unbuttoned collar. Once more, it may do well to caution those that even though he does look scholarly and harmless in such a contradictory activity, do not be fooled. Periodically he would pull the charcoal sketching pencil, which is his weapon of choice while writing, from it's tucked away place of his pointed ear to scribble something down only to replace it once more. His healing seems to have come along well, the left eye no longer swollen and the bruised cut up knuckles mended themselves for the most part.

Valen had decided, quite on a whim, to stretch his shadowy wings after much thought was given after meeting a certain avian. Making his way from Xalious to Cenril, and upon spying the shore-line, he gave off a smirk before vanishing his magnificent appendages...allowing himself to plummet to the waters below. Given it was night, it may be hard for -anyone- to spot him against the black of the sky...if it was not for the fact that as he plummeted towards the now-abyss colored water...a brilliant light surrounded him as he went into a nose dive. Like a comet he fell from the sky, and went straight into the water some distance away from the being on the beach whom he had yet to identify. The brilliance of the light now extinguished by the waves, one might indeed guess that some heavenly celestial body might have indeed fallen from the sky to rest now at the near bottom of the shallows of the beach. Yet, mere minutes later, a being would stride from the waters...clad in only a pair of red swimming shorts with a white floral pattern, that hug his hips quite nicely. Those hips in question would be very shapely, the suit itself hugging just below the summit of the hip structure...revealing the shapely mounds and a slight crevice that peeked out from behind, and a very nice V shape in front. With steady hands, he would pull the trunks up just slightly, before making his way to what he thought was a stranger before identifying him as the Avian who had most certainly occupied his thoughts since their last meeting. "Well, well.." Valen would say softly, a slight lilt to his voice. "I honestly did not expect to run into you here...I trust, given that you are indeed here, that your meeting with the lady Larewen went well?" Making sure to give him a good once-over, he would give a nod of approval. "Your bruises and such certainly seemed to have healed. I can honestly say I am glad to see that." A friendly smile would be offered, before noting the sketches and books, and indicated them with an outstretched hand with pointed index finger. "What's all that?" The water still clung to his visage, chest not only luminescent in the moonlight but glistening as well from the moisture.

A roving gang of thugs lurks in from the west, looking for trouble

Irenic lifts his attention up to the skies as something caught it while whatever it was started falling. A middle finger slides the spectacles up the bridge of his nose when he starts to see a being emerging from the water making no attempt to check the mystery person for injuries. Not even a flinch to prepare to defend himself in case it was an enemy harboring malicious intent. That was just Edlin and he was careless as ever, but in this way it seemed dangerously so… Almost like he didn't care if he lived or died, but was sure he wasn't going to die. He recognized the vampire from before, but his expression remained neutral for the time being while he was being approached. Irenic smoothed his hair back out of his eyes this time and sort of scratched the back of his head, "It’s the blueprints to some places in town here in Cenril… I believe a friend of mine has been falsely accused of something and I am attempting to get to the bottom of it." He puts on a bit more of an innocent explanation for now in remaining vague, still giving off sort of a stranger vibe because for some reason he felt like playing a harmless joke on his new friend. Edlin's gaze narrows while hesitantly closing the books around him, removing his glasses, pulling the knot further down his tie and asking with the most serious tone and expression, "My meeting with Lady Dragana? Apologies… But what meeting?" His gaze travels about the man's body before returning it back to Valen's face, "Have we met?" He blinks a couple times, quirks a scarred eye brow as if confused and awaited patiently for a response, but he could nearly feel the laughter trying to bubble out of him at any moment if the silence lasts for too long. Meanwhile, the roving gang of thugs lurk in and exchange some hushed tones - something along the lines of, 'Idn't dat winged dude suppos'd ta be dead?!' and 'Dat guy is nuts, lets get outta 'ere!' And just as fast as they lurked in they lurked out.

A roving gang of thugs meanders off to the north

Valen certainly was not expecting this joke to be played, and in fact viewed it as a case of amnesia. He understood the viewpoint of not caring if one lived or died, he had been there and done that and in some retrospect still was there as a point of fact. It was the point that he felt like this man legitimately did not remember him, and started to wonder if he had botched his memory fixing. "Edlin...It's me, Valen? We just met the other day...?" A pitiful attempt but the only one he knew how to start with. All explanations of the blueprints and his friend put off by the wayside for now, he wracked his brain to try and figure out just what had gone wrong. It was maddening… So much so that even the lurkers in the shadows managed to slip by him without gaining his attention! Calming himself, and collecting his thoughts, he would attempt yet again to further explain who he was. "I...confessed a few things to you, as I said, the other day? I apologize if I did not make a lasting impression." A few more moments of thought before, "You told me you could not afford distractions due to your servitude to Lady Dragana? I helped you regain your memories? You also told me that you do not get jealous over her husband because you have a feeling that you do not compete over the affections of a woman like it's some championship...?" Hopefully that would validate his claim though given the fact of how much he had changed, he would most likely get laughed at. This thought alone brought an almost pained look to his face, one that had the potential to even make the most hard-hearted person feel saddened, or at the very least sympathetic. In his mind, he could not shake that he had wronged this man.

Irenic stood up while unbuttoning his dress shirt a bit more which hints at the tattoos there while a wide grin glistened in the moonlight. "Valen!" He cuts him off at some point with a hearty chuckle before pulling him in for a tight, possibly too tight, and sort of manly hug, "I remember, I was just playing a prank." In the moment granting that favorite scent in the air and even his hypnotic wings encircle Valen with the embrace before releasing him not before placing his hands on Valen's shoulders and giving an almost apologetic squeeze… No one can really tell with Edlin. His bi-colored eyes rest in Valen's, "Bad taste, huh?" Another chuckle with that devious smirk, "Oh, but you should have seen the look on your face! I wish I could sketch as Valrae, then I could have shown you." Edlin offers a pat to the top of Valen's head, sort of a sweet gesture, maybe it was sarcastic, but as I said - hard to tell. Edlin slips his lenses back on his face, somehow the glasses give him a sort of professor-esque appearance. "I actually got a few blueprints for the jailhouse here in Cenril. As I said I feel like she is not at fault here so I think I am just going to break her out." He said it so plainly and it showed he trusted his new friend, but he jests, "I mean you can't tell anyone because you love me." His smirk was quick to return and the chuckle proved he was just joking with him again and even threw in a wink. Edlin let out a frustrated sight before talking business again, "The only thing is that of course they leave out a few details to the public.. Understandable." One could guess that’s probably why he's kind of dressed up, no one would give a ruffian looking, possibly evil Avain blueprints to important city buildings - it would have caused alarm…. Smart.

Valen felt relief wash over him once his name was spoken in such a way, the hug given as well. It did not matter how sarcastic or patronizing it may have been, he was simply content and even possibly happy to have the attention. At the admission it was a prank, he would give off this half amused, half-not look before giving a sigh of said relief. "Gods...what am I going to do with you?" At the news of breaking someone out of a prison, his brow furrowed in thought before looking back up at him. "That is very serious business and you may need some help. I know a thing or two about prisons but what it all boils down to is two things. What enchantments are there, and how many guards. Blueprints can be pretty much unreliable, especially if there are any secret passages as they would not be put on any blueprints except those owned by the highest leader of said establishment and those he/she trusts implicitly. They can be good for escapes if you get a chance to view them but more than likely they will be a hindrance." the jest about love would bring that familiar tinge to his cheeks though in his mind, he was simply wondering if he was using this as a way to simply fluster and/or coerce him into some new adventure...or whether it was simply meant to be lighthearted. He knew what he would have to do most likely but that could certainly wait. "Well, maybe you are right." He would retort back, tongue sticking out between his fangs. "Maybe my feelings -are- a bit more than just simple caring. What then, huh?" It was said in jest, but he knew the more time he spent around him, as evidenced by how he felt now, the more it would foster...or fester? Either way, he knew his feelings would most likely grow and now was the time to safeguard against possible heartbreak or ensure that he would not reap some backlash from prior actions. "You seem to have everything thought out except mayhap how to liberate this person?"

Irenic gives some side eye at the comment and responds with an answer, "Not sure… Probably inevitably grow tired of me." When Valen goes on about knowing quite a bit about busting someone out of jail his brow quirks with interest, "Well, well. Look at you… I like the enthusiasm." While his friend continues to share very valid points he bends down to show him a book, standing side by side possibly touching arms. Edlin is never bothered by connections or touching even if the other person was naked and a man that is attracted to him for the time being. "Yeah look at this here…" He points to some blocked out parts in the blueprints, "There is no telling what this is, if its just a safe room or something else entirely and as enchantments… That's something I haven't had the chance to look into, but she is a which and I am sure they know that about her." When Valen jests in return Edlin looks at the man next to him and studies his face for a moment before offering an actually sincere answer, "We shall see what then when we come across that bridge." The answer seemingly not to jilt him, but to honestly say he has no telling of what the future holds and that the possibilities are endless. When the least question hits him he takes a deep breath and looks before them towards where the Jails of Cenril are, "That is true… Once I… Or we?" He glances at Valen as if to ask if they are in this together now, "Get her out I can fly her far away… Probably to an area where they have no jurisdiction… Might even ask Larewen if she can hold her there and have the House of Dragana act as a safe house…" Edlin still felt the feelings he gained getting to know her with no previous memories and couldn't shake them, but as of late he was wondering if she would join in the evil ranks with him and Larewen. After a long pause of looking in the direction of the Jail he blinks and takes his glasses off to clip them onto his shirt, "Your thoughts?"

Valen saw the interest and felt a sense of pride swell within him, though made sure to not overplay it as this was after all, still in the early stages of development. He would however offer in response, "Enthusiasm? Perhaps it might be that, I just simply have not had the time in order to perform such tasks in a long time." Honestly he could not even remember when the last time was that he had been involved in such a thing, though his mind certainly was a wonder of information at times. Noticing the blocked out parts, he would use his finger to trace them between any other similar parts to try and see if they could be connected at all in any shape or form, including possible teleportation circles though that might be a bit of a long shot. "Either way, no matter what they are, they must be important if they are blocked out. There is the remote possibility that they could be unused rooms however that is the least likely. As for the part about enchantments..." He would close his eyes and take in a few moments of thought before looking up at him, disregarding it seemed the touch for now if their arms did indeed connect. "Perhaps if I went to this prison and acted to seek employment? I could possibly find out where the most recent blueprints are stored, or at least most likely kept, study any enchantments keeping her powers in check as well as any wards that would alarm of intruders. If I gain a position to which I have access to her cell, unlikely this early in the stages, but if it comes to pass perhaps I could simply get her out of range and shadow her out? I can easily make them more than a one person portal, though it would take more energy than I am used to. Simply stating...this can work." It was said finitely, and would be obvious he was certain of his capabilities and aptitude in this venture. "There may not be any need to even have you fly her out. I just need to know the place where she needs to ultimately end up, in order to concentrate on it, while opening up a portal where her and I are. You would have total and complete deniability in her escape should this all go belly up. Though, if that is not possible..." He would make sure his eyes were locked with his, not for severity or malice, but simply out of a thing that could only be described as -true- friendship (on Irenic's end at least, obviously more on Valen's), "the scenario of 'we' will work just fine." he would finish with his trademark toothy smile. There was no response given about Larewen, that would be up to the Avian to ask for. A frown would grace his features for a moment before looking at him with concern "There is one last concern I have and it regards your memories...I may be able to unlock one final one that perhaps can give you the utmost edge we need to rescue this lady. It is up to you whether I unlock it, but in the end we will need every advantage if we want this to go off without a hitch. I am more than willing to do my part...but I would certainly feel more comfortable knowing you have my back...?"

Irenic remained silent in his thoughts throughout Valen's plotting as he was in agreement with the most of it. "Mmm Hmm…. I see." He would offer here and there until they reached a part about employment, "Of course we would have to get you some fake Identity…" It was that small protective suggestion that showed he did truly view this vampire as a friend… Although he gets a feeling from him that he might not entirely love being a vampire…. Another question for a different day. When the point was brought up about Edlin not even having a fault in the plan he get quiet oddly and thought for a moment, "Say if you gained employment… Wouldn't they be on the look out for someone that looks like you? What if we just rough you up a bit and I fly you back within enough time and you can just say you were roughed up by some powerful being, you couldn't get a good look at their face while you were looking after Valrae… Would that work or should we all just run?" He was quiet again, "Better yet I can cause a distraction outside the jail pretending to be intoxicated and starting fights… That way the both of you get out unseen?" He thinks this plan works a bit better, "I can handle a few days in the clink for public intoxication no problem." He chuckles darkly, "I'll even do it naked, authorities hate touching naked drunk people." He quirks a brow, "So, there is a possibility I am not remembering something?" He didn't seem to care about this either as a shrug was given, "If you think it will help I have no issues with that." There was a "Pfft" noise and a scoff that came from Edlin at Valen's last sentiment, "Of course… No question. Anything for the guy who helped me stop acting like a mindless little pushover." His arm draped around his friend's shoulder, "Let's go get some drinks, we will pass the place on the way and see if we can pick up on any enchantments while we are at it." He looks Valen up and down suggestively with the quirk of his scarred brow, "Not sure the bar will let you in like that, you'll start fights… Because I'll have to knock someone out for any asinine comments or starring…. Need my black robes?" He points to the nicely folded hooded robe on the sand before them.

Valen had already gotten the fake identity part in his head, the question would be just how to do it. He had assumed a different identity once so it would most likely not be difficult for him. The thought about being roughed up however, has the Vampire reaching into his bag to pull out a dagger, to which he draws it right across his cheek, making a nice little gash that would start healing and in a few moments it would be a scar, then nothing. "That is going to be easier said than done...My feathered friend. You would have to do some serious damage to me in order for it to remain.." A brief moment of silence before, "Though, if it helps you get what you need, or if you think it is the better choice...I'd be willing. After all, I told you, no matter what you need me for I will be there and I plan on keeping my word." That aside, he had to give off a laugh at the rest of the plausible plans. "Well what if I'm the one that has to bring you in, eh? They might decide to haze me by having me bring in the rowdy drunk! Now, if you caused the distraction beforehand, I could slip in. If she is allowed visitors that is even better as I could simply get a glimpse of her surroundings, pop in then out with her after disabling any safeguards, give you a signal that she is out safely, then you can either get rid of the ones trying to take you in or simply spend a few days in jail like you suggested. Either way, we have time on our side as you did not say she was due to be executed, so we have the time to play this smart and think it over more. Now...as for your memories..." He studied him over a bit before shaking his head "I need to think on that too. Next time we meet after our drinks, I will have an answer on that after we figure out just what we are dealing with." The arm raped over his shoulder earned another genuine smile, and even gently rested his head upon it with a slight hum. "So, you are my knight in shining armor then? Here to protect me from any would-be assailants? Remind me that I should pay you for such services.." Perhaps the most suggestive comment he had made ever, though who could tell with him? While his head rested on the arm, he would look back up, more serious and thoughtful "I will never grow tired of you, I hope you know that. Actions speak louder than words, but not only do I honestly feel safe like this but even without that scent coming from you, I feel like I can be myself around you. I feel like I don't have to hold back anything, and that includes the truth of my feelings or anything else. It is very unusual to be sure, but there it is. I...I feel lucky to have made it this far at least, who knows where it will take us? Just know that no matter what, you can always count on me...just as I feel I can always count on you." As if on hesitation, he would move his lips closer to Irenic's...a test of sorts, to see what would happen. He could almost guess two outcomes. Either he would close the distance out of some sense of pity or it being a sort of game, or he would lean back out of confusion or dis-interest. But he did not care, he wanted to see before he attempted to do what might come later.
