RP:A Little Pixie Told Me

From HollowWiki

Scenic View

Kovl gazes toward the magnificent view of the overlook of Xalious with a paintbrush much too large for him held under his arm. An easel displaying a canvas full of a myriad of colors lies at the edge of the cliff. Upon closer inspection, one would see the painting is actually a replica of the scene below. The five-inch tall pixie smiles and adds another blob of green paint as he hums to himself. Kovl is a remarkable artist, and this is evident by the display ahead of him.

Vehara merely happens to be passing through the area; initially, she has no true intent to stop...that is, until she catches something peculiar in her peripheral vision. Namely, a pixie holding a brush that's entirely too large to be wieldy for him. Quirking a brow, the half-drow turns with a curious smirk and approaches, moving onto the overlooking cliff to catch a closer glimpse of this strange little sight. What's even more perplexing is that the canvas before the pixie actually seems to be accurate and well rendered, not just a messy splash of paint like Hara would've thought. That's enough to give her pause, murmuring, "...Interesting."

Kovl's keen hearing causes him to turn at Vehara's murmur. The pixie smiles broadly at his visitor and holds his brush upright at his side, bristles up. "Interesting? What is? That I'm a genius?" Kovl lets out a chuckle. It is not clear whether the laughter is because he is joking or whether he thinks his statement is so true it is funny. "I recognize you. V-something. Vera? Right? Wait. Are you Eliason's girl?"

Vehara smirks at Kovl's confident comment - jestful or not - but it is rather short lived. Being identified as Eliason's girl brings those lips thinning back out in a near scowl. "...You're almost correct. Was. I'm Vehara." She takes another slight step forward, peering at the pixie's work once more. "It's quite impressive, really. I didn't think you would be able to even -move- the brush...forgive my assumption." She pauses, "How do you know me? I assume you know Eli."

Kovl chuckles. "Well, I suppose I'm much stronger than I look." Kovl flexes his free arm to his visitor revealing thin arms with little evidence of muscle. He laughs again. "I suppose you don't remember meeting me a few months ago in the Kelay tavern when ELI..." A hint of joking resentment at his name, "Swatted at me thinking I was fly. That jerk, am I right?" This charismatic pixie seems to be identifying with Vehara though he hardly has reason to. In fact, the pixie aided in saving the holy man's life. But sometimes one must be tactful to excel in the world of gossip.

Vehara tilts her head aside for a moment, staring quietly at Kovl. "Mm..no, I suppose I've forgotten. I don't know how long ago that was, but regardless, much has changed. Anyway, I've already larglely moved past it. Eli will be fine...as will I." She raises a hand with a little wave, as if to dismiss the topic. "...Sorry, your name was?" If he's even spoken it yet.

Kovl shrugs. "My name is Kovl. I'm from Enchantment, and I have a large family." The pixie smiles brightly again at Vehara. "Nice to meet you again." Kovl floats to a nearby rock and sets down his brush, bristles carefully tilted as to not touch the rock which props it up. "Break-ups can be tough. What happened to cause yours? I'm a great listener." There's Kovl, poking his nose where it doesn't belong. Typical.

Vehara tips her head in silent acknowledgment of his greeting, coming to cross both of her arms beneath her chest. If she is perturbed by the pixie's question, she doesn't truly seem so yet; instead, she simply offers a reply. "What happened? Mm, he admitted he had feelings for another woman, which I knew was likely going to happen. Just as well, I didn't really have a desire to be in the center of any drama. If he's happier with someone else..." Her shoulders roll up in a shrug, "...So be it."

Kovl lets out an audible 'hm' as he listens. "I'm sorry that happened. I never thought of Eliason as someone who would do that. He's a 'holy man', right? Who's the unlucky girl?" The pixie makes a quick glance behind him as he hears voices coming from the valley below the two. Children in the park.

Vehara gives another nod of affirmation. "He is, but that doesn't really mean anything. Faith or supposed principles doesn't mean ones feelings can't wander or grow stronger for another. Who was it?" She chews on the inside of her bottom lip while considering this; she really has no desire to talk about this woman, but as long as it's only her name, perhaps it won't be so bad. "Josleen. Or Julia, as some apparently called her."

Kovl's face twists in a quick expression of malicious glee and surprise. "Josleen? You're kidding." The secret pair had only been a weak, passing guess to the pixie until now. "You know, Josleen had someone's heart too. How nice is it that two cheaters can find something in common, eh? How fun of a target can they be for some cruel pranks!" The pixie smiles mischieveously. "Am I right?"

Vehara quirks a surprised brow at this knowledge. Does Josleen actually hold someone elses heart or is this pixie simply being mischievously misleading? Either way, it causes a slight smirk to tug at the half-drow's lips. "Is that so? Quite...amusing, if that's true, but either way it's of no real consequence to me. Even if they fail, Eli won't have me to return to. He made his choice. now he is stuck with it...for better or worse."

Kovl nods. "Yes, yes it is so. I saw a mage on the path of destroying his life for this woman. I think you made the more appropriate response to it all than this poor guy I know. He just makes one stupid decision after the other for Josleen." The pixie shakes his head. "Good for you, Vehara." Kovl's wings begin to buzz as he picks up his brush. He puts a couple more dots on the canvas, represented the children playing the park below them.

Vehara 's amusement disappears at this knowledge; instead, her brow furrows in slight. It's no longer all that funny with the knowledge that someone else strained their life so much just to gain the attention of this one single woman. "I should hope not. I may be a bit...-biased-, but in my eyes Josleen is not worth that in the least. She was not terribly civil with me even when I first met her. I recall her being rather jealous that I was with Eli at the time..." Before she goes any further, the half-drow shakes her head insistently. "...Anyway, I can only hope he learns to forget her. This other man, that is."

Kovl speaks over his shoulder at the half-drow. "She's not that bad if you get to know her outside of being an object of her love or her jealousy. She's a talented bard but made horrid decisions as I can see now. As for the mage who loved her, he's already made at least one irreversible decision out of depression. He quit the guild. Or at least he -thinks- he quit the guild. The sucker told me to tell the mage's guild he quit. Guess who did not tell them yet? Yeah, I'm giving him some time, but that time won't be forever. Life-ruining disaster Eli and Josleen are, huh?"

Vehara lifts a brow at the mention of this man supposedly quitting an entire guild over Josleen, of all women. She lets a soft hum pass through her lips, soon followed by another shake of her head. "He should wait until he is certainly more rational to make that sort of decision. I'm sure he's let down over this fact, but perhaps if he knew the whole story he may reconsider. I can't say for sure, however...I don't know who he is, nor do I know how deep his feelings were for her."

Kovl turns to the half-drow fully. "We must think similarly. The poor man didn't even bathe or sleep for what looked like days. I told him I'd give him two days before I relay the information to the guild. After two days, he STILL hadn't slept and he ended up throwing a tome he carried around with him all the time in a firepit. Stupid decision. That's why I'm saving him from his own disaster. At least for now. I -did- tell him I'd tell Satoshi he left, after all." The pixie shrugs again. "It's a mess. I'm glad you aren't in it anymore."

Vehara can't resist any longer, opting to make a certain inquiry. "Who is this man? Perhaps I ought to speak with him. I don't know if it will help, but I would hate to know that someone's life was ruined over this woman...who is not worth it at all, I can promise that much. Do you suppose he would listen to reason?"

Kovl shakes his head. "He won't listen to reason at all. At all. He's too love-stricken. His name is Ezekiel. He's currently staying in Frostmaw Tavern. You can't miss him. He's the lad with a missing arm. If you want to dissaude him, you would need to do it with tact."

Vehara heaves out a sigh, bringing a clenched fist just beneath her jaw. "Tact I can do, of course. I don't know if I can successfully dissuade him from all this, but it may be worth a try. Especially since I was in the middle of this whole situation." Her eyes flick up to Kovl's once more, "Or do you think it may just make things worse?"

Kovl smiles. "It's hard to tell. Last time I tried to talk sense into him, he threw the book into the fire. The time before that, he told me I wasn't his friend and to leave him alone. You need to do it in a way which is... hm... sneaky. Make him come to the conclusion he needs to come to on his own. Because he won't listen!"

Vehara 's brow furrows in thought, clearly pondering whether she should bother approaching the man or not. In the end, she decides to. "I'll try. It's the least I can do. I won't even bring this particular topic up to him at first...I'll simply approach with a friendly conversation. I don't want to sit down right wherever he is and aggressively attempt to change his mind, after all. It does have to be done with tact, as you mentioned."

Kovl nods. "Maybe you can make him less of a sucker for Josleen. Let me know if I can help you in any way. He doesn't even know I know about Eliason. He just won't talk to me." A thought pops into the pixie's head for later. Oh how he loves gossip and pranks. "Maybe you'll have better luck."

Vehara manages to muser up a smile once more. "I'll try and let you know what happens. Anyway...I should get going. Seems to be getting a bit late in the day..." Her eyes briefly flick skyward, where the formerly blue sky has been replaced by a canvas of starry black. "...Good to meet you, Kovl."

You nods to Vehara. "Good night, Vehara. Nice to meet you a second time." With that, the pixie turns back to his painting.
