RP:A King's Visit

From HollowWiki

Summary King Macon visits the Icy One in jail in order to question her in regard to the recent snowstorm she'd brought down upon Larket. Questions and Answers are given before a surprise judgement is made by the King. Emilia is released from her cell and freed to go back to living outside the jail with no other consequences beyond her week long stay behind bars.

Macon arrives at the sheriff’s office long enough after Thamalys has left that the two do not cross paths in their entrance and exit respectively. The Fury Knight is wearing the marble crown of Larket and is inside the Rage Armor. His precious great axe is strapped to his back and he is accompanied by a pair of Kingsguard as he walks the streets of his city. The conversation the king has with whoever is tending the office is mostly composed of angry growls that seep, muffled into the holding area. Macon is here to see the prisoner Emilia after a note from Sabrina alerted him to the ice woman’s arrest. His small entourage is left behind in the main office area and The Rage Knight appears in the holding area alone before Emilia. He cuts right to the chase, standing in front of her cell, “Are they -really- ‘olding you here because of a flurry?” It seems odd to him, and he is obviously looking to get to the bottom of this whole thing as quickly as possible, considering the accusations this woman is making.

Emilia in the length of time that Thamalys had left had found herself starting to read the book he’d left her with...a most boring book on the history of the mountains west of here. Lifting her pupil-less white gaze from the pages of the book the petite woman sported a look of surprise that the King had bothered to come and visit her in the jail. Standing the woman crossed the empty space of her cell to stand before Macon on her side of the bars. Looking up to him, if only because her height made her, the Healer stared at him with those curious eyes while he questioned her, “I suppose that casting the city in a snow storm causing a white out is thought to be an attack on the city on the behalf of Frostmaw since I am an ice monster. Really, I was just aiding another in releasing twelve frost giants that were being held captive and tortured in the other holding cells of the city North of here. Oddly enough it turns out that I guess there isn’t any giants...I swear there was giants, a whole lot of them. Now half the guards think I have gone mental, another half think I’ve come back to finish murdering the town to complete what I supposedly did as a kid, and some mixture of them think I meant to turn Larket into another Frostmaw. Really, was just to free the giants…”

Macon ’s straight posture does nothing to alleviate the height difference between the king and the prisoner. “I can say for certain tha’ there were no giants. If there were, someone would be being beheaded.” His tone implies that the one losing their head would not be the one who freed the hypothetical captives, but the one that was holding them without his knowledge. Emilia seems to be unsure of herself and the accusation she has made now. Sabrina’s communication, among other things, noted that she believed the icy woman to perhaps not be in her right mind exactly. Macon has entered this interview with that in mind, for the guild leader's sake. A separate notice, sent to him by the sheriff’s office listed the prior crimes Emilia is suspected of, but the King is not interested in those very much now, as he wasn't interested in them when he received the rap sheet. Constant mentions of the city of war has his brow raising, and his lips turning up in a sneer. Frostmaw has given one good thing only to Larket in Macon's opinion, and that is its Thane. “You do not wish t’do ‘arm t’the city then? I can understand my people's fear tha’ you were an agent of Frostmaw… Can you ease this fear?”

Emilia with that question asked in such a way by the King got the little woman all in a small fit of anger that he would dare ask her such a question, yet she managed to for the most part keep her cool. Her glossy black hand moved to land itself on one of the bars that kept her away from the man standing before her, “I find that question to be a drastic insult from you. Questioning me on my desires to want to harm the city itself? The city that I was born into...the city that I provided farm goods to for many years...the city that I spent many sleepless nights searching for survivors after that quake...the city that I helped to heal its wounded after such a quake took many lives...the city that I once sat on the council of when the Grey Luthentius was over it...a city that no matter how much I have provided and tended to seems to not even notice me until I cause a snow storm...No. I don’t have any plans meant for harming a city that I have cared for over the long many years.”

Macon tilts his head, slightly so that the heavy crown of Larket doesn't come sliding off of the top of the King. He looks somewhat pleased with himself. His line of questioning was intentionally formulated to attempt to upset Emilia and it seems he has succeeded in that. She appears lucid in her argument against her malice against Larket, which raises some concern in The Rage Knight. This woman does not appear to be the hallucinating type. Perhaps you can never tell, but perhaps something else was at work to make her break nonexistent Frost Giants out of his fort. He raises a hand silently to stop her protest. When he has silence in the holding area he speaks again, “I believe you. Still… the accusation of ‘olding prisoners of war following the signing of a peace agreement is a serious one. It is not one someone who does not mean the Hard City ‘arm would make lightly. I fear somethin’ else may be at work ‘ere trying t’reignite hostilities between Us and The Frozen City.” He stares down the ice woman through slate eyes, trying to see through whatever response she might give to this theory.

Emilia found that her words had been slowed into a silent hush as he rose a hand to silence her. Stubborn as the lady was she knew better than to continue rambling toward a figure head of the city, King especially. Pure white eyes stared up at him from her place behind the bars. White curls, white flesh, white eyes, white as snow minus that glossy black hand of hers. It wouldn’t be a curious wonder as to why she had been picked a target to make the city of Frostmaw appear to be against Larket again. In the cell she almost looked like a living ice statue. Shaking her head slowly, “I haven’t the faintest of ideas. Why are you asking me? I found twelve giants naked and abused. I free the giants using a snowstorm to hide them and was taken to jail without ever leaving the city. Sabrina tells me that I’ve lost my marbles, that there is no way that many giants were in such a room and that no such evidence of giants has been found within the city. Meri says the same thing...Not Lost also agrees no giants...but I haven’t left this cell to tell you otherwise. I only know that in times of peace there is almost always a rogue faction that didn’t want the peace….besides, if I meant to harm the city I would have caused a much more drastic storm over just a bunch of nice fluffy snow.”

Macon is in agreement with Emilia. She could have done much worse than some snowflakes. Hell, he's seen ‘Witches’ bring his city to its knees with an earthquake. He nods once to her claim of not having a clue as to what might be trying to get Larket and Frostmaw back at each others’ throats. Again, he believes her and does not see a stark raving mad woman in front of him. “You ‘ave done nothing wrong. ‘Olding you any longer would point t’the opposite.” He explains the logic behind freeing her while moving to the guard on duty to order Emilia’s immediate release. He growls out the command in true Rage Knight fashion so that there isn't even a hint of debate from the Larketian protector. It is not long at all before the cell holding the icy woman is unlocked and she is presented the exit by the king, free to go as she pleases.

Emilia is slightly surprised the King has made up his mind over her stay in the jail being over, but in the same moment she is more than ready to get out of that cell. It was high time she had a bath, proper food, and her own clothing. Picking up the book from the mattress the Healer found her way to stepping out of the cell as the current guard unlocked it for her. It would be a quick exit for her afraid the King might for some reason change his mind, yet she paused long enough to look back at the crown wearing Knightly one, “Thank you. If you need any help in finding the true cause behind the events prior to the storm please don’t be afraid to ask.” And with that those bare feet of the woman were leading her right out into the streets of Larket. In her wake Macon would find a series of frosted foot prints.

Macon nods again in response to her thanks, "If you do find out anythin' related t'tha, I ask tha' you send word t'the fort immediately."
