RP:A Discussion Of Past, Present, And Future

From HollowWiki

This is a Necromancer's Guild RP.

Summary: Khitti finds Bradyn at work and they discuss the current events in Vailkrin, as well as his status within the guild.

Funeral Parlour, Cenril

The door to the funeral parlor would open and in would walk a redhead. Not just any redhead, mind you--this one was supposed to be dead. Double dead. Well, true death had definitely taken her months ago, but now Khitti was most definitely alive. She was much more filled out now than she had been, thanks to all those sweets she’d loved (though being pregnant certainly helped there also even though she wasn’t too far along) -and- she was wearing colors. COLORS. It’s unheard of, surely, for a necromancer to be so brightly adorned. Favoring peach today, in one of her usual knee-length sleeveless dresses, and a dusty blue cardigan, she smiled ever so politely at the counter attendant, pointed at the grave markers as if to say ‘I’m just looking’ and then wandered over to where they laid. If Bradyn were here, it wouldn’t take long for him to hear that familiar gait of hers or even catch a whiff of her scent--none of it changed, though her scent was just a little less… undead.

Bradyn was here but he was not in the room, Khitti's scent and gait were not details that the vampiric male has really have paid much heed to. Perhaps if he could function as a 'normal' individual, he might have taken note of these distinctions but Bradyn is rather..disconnected, isn't he? Bradyn is here but Khitti would be left to browse the grave markers for about two minutes before by chance Bradyn happens out of the Chapel of Rest and into the parlor itself. He is still not a man inclined to wear color and this is a detail about Bradyn that is probably impossible to change -- like many things about this stubborn man. Once he is in the same room as Khitti, it does not take him long to notice her presence. There is no reaction to her choice of outfit for the day, or how damn bright it is (probably he is judging though -- he is a jerk like that). "Oh. It is you." Bradyn says in his usual flat sort of way, making this probably the most unethused reaction Khitti has received to being alive to date? Maybe she'll have to meet with Krice to see if this can't be topped? "I have met with Raevyn, if that is what you are here about."

A smile was offered to Bradyn despite his lack of surprise at her being alive, a shrug soon following it, “No. I assume it didn’t go well though. She was much too enthusiastic about looking for that library and was immensely disheartened when I told her that just because she’s in the guild, didn’t mean that she’d get all the access she wanted to it. Celaeno, another new member and Raevyn’s friend, was likewise disappointed. But, rules are rules and I don’t make them when it comes to that library. I did warn Raevyn though.” Another shrug, and a pause. “I am sorry about things before I died. And that you likely had to put up with Larewen on your own.” Here she frowned, but it was in concern instead of sadness, “I’m not sure what I should do about her, but I don’t like the way things are going. I was at that Halloween Ball she threw, albeit in an amnesiatic state. What’s happened since then? What’s your whole stance on this debacle? And I’m not asking as some sort of envoy for the would-be Queen. I’ve not spoken to her since the party and it’s become increasingly clear that she cares very little for her own house or the guild. She was supposed to give me lessons, before my memory returned, and never showed up. She’s very much slipped back into her old ways and much like before, I’m not going to put up with it.”

Bradyn shrugs, it may not have gone as well as Raevyn had hoped but it also probably could have gone worse for the woman. "Mmm." Comes Bradyn's mildly disinterested response when it comes to Celaeno's interest in the library. "Well if she seeks me out then she will be told exactly the same thing that Raevyn was." Rules were rules and Bradyn was not going to bend them for the personal quests of a majority of the population, especially when those endeavors led little for him to gain. Maybe friendship? "I am not fully aware of what occurred at the ball, outside of her perception that she painted while declaring war upon Vailkrin's houses. A mistake, and just further evidence she only cares about furthering her own agenda and not her house or the guild." Bradyn spoke fairly freely, without regard to anyone who might be traveling through the parlor. Not that there were many, just sparse staff members. "My opinion of Larewen has not yet been swayed for the better, though it does seem to me like you are starting to have a change in heart in your own opinion of her. If you are not going to put up with it, what are you going to do about it?"

“I don’t know if there is anything I -can- do about it. I’m of the House, I suppose, but I’m certainly not going to have the pull that the rest of the vampires do. The Houses, in general, are not really my concern. My concern, however, does lie with the fact that she’s avoiding her duties as a leader and she needs to put someone in charge beneath her to deal with the guild. I don’t want it to fall to pieces. I -need- it to further my studies, just like everyone else in the guild. She’s lost her way, again, and it’s quickly become just about her.” Khitti grew a little irate now, and scoffed at the thought she soon voiced, “I mean… I frakking came back from the dead and she couldn’t even manage to come visit me when she found out I was alive? To teach me necromancy like she’d promised so many times? If she can’t even take care of those she considers family or those in the guild, how the hell is she going to rule a city?” She shrugged, and pulled her cardigan around her form more tightly, “It’s not that my opinion’s changed of her. It’s been as it always has been. I know what she is and what she does. But, now it’s affecting more than just me.” A sigh. “Do you have any solutions? I can’t imagine you’ve been entirely idle during all of this. Something’s got to be going on in that head of yours.”

Bradyn no longer see fit to remain on his feet for the duration of this talk. The moritician will have to walk several steps away from Khitti in order to claim a seat for himself. Areas were set up for finalizing the details of funerals so it was not a hard search. It is not until he is settled that Bradyn speaks, and when he does speak his words are selected carefully. He still was not entirely sure where Khitti stood with Larewen, there seemed to be a lot of back and forth with how Khitti felt on the woman. "I leave the decisions to the overall state of the guild to you and Larewen. It is not something that I have spent that much time dwelling over, my energy must be dedicated to my House -- for that is something that I must care about. Her behavior in Vailkrin is of equal concern. But I guess if you wanted me to actually devote some thought to it, I would say that I do not disagree with you. She does not seem to have much care for matters that are not her own. It's hard to make any solid decisions without knowing how the rest of the recruits feel about it. If this issue is brought to head but everyone sides with Larewen...what was gained? Your solution is to find out how the rest of the members feel about her absence, and if they take issue...Claim the title for yourself." Not that Khitti would be doing it for the title, but for the overall good of the necromancer's guild.

Khitti would eventually move to join him, taking a seat nearby, but keeping a respectable enough distance between them. “I’m… not quite so inclined to just pull the rug out from under her, so to speak. I could probably leave at any time the guild and still do what I need to do research-wise, especially if you allowed me to still have access to the Black Library--not that that matters either because I did plenty of figuring things out on my own before I even opened a book dedicated to necromancy.” She leaned forward, putting her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands, “Plus, if she’s already on a warpath, what’s to say that she wouldn’t add me to her list too if I did that? Sure, Lionel alone probably could deal with her. He’s killed immortals aplenty, but there’s bigger things than Larewen going on right now, and I don’t expect he’d want to add that to his plate.” Sigh. “I could talk to her, at least, but… she’s obviously very busy right now. I will be making my way to Vailkrin here again pretty soon. I’ll see if ‘Her Majesty’ will be accepting visitors.”

Everything that Khitti was saying was entirely incomprehensible to Bradyn, leave the necromancer's guild? Why was she talking about leaving the necromancer's guild? Had some amount of trouble transpired between Larewen and Khitti? Bradyn was mildly curious and tempted to inquire but their conversations about Larewen don't usually fair well. It was a wonder that they were managing this much chatter about Larewen to begin with. "Hm." Bradyn responds. If Khitti left, that would not bode well for the guild, but she also needed to decide her own path. It is probably for the best. Bradyn is not the most charismatic, as we know, what sort of pep talk would he even be able to give? Oi, that is a scary thought. Gray eyes shift away from Khitti, focusing on the shadows of the room while giving brief contemplation to what she has said. To subjects that are not Larewen, "Arrangements could be made regarding the library. Access does not have to be completely denied. The doors of Mahara are open to you and Brand when you decide to venture down into Vailkrin, should you no longer find House Dragana to be a welcoming environment."

Khitti wanted to tell Bradyn more. She wanted to go on about how Larewen’s lack of a presence was entirely disappointing and aggravating as hell. The fact that Larewen probably assumed things would be peachy keen between them after her disappearance and failure to show up to teach her necromancy again only added to the fire. But, that meant that she’d be giving Bradyn her feelings… and well… she knew what happened when Bradyn got in contact with feelings. It was a lot like Brand--he’d get metaphorical hives--and Bradyn would be oh so much worse. So, she let him change the subject, and managed to muster the faintest of smiles for him, “I appreciate it, Bradyn. I imagine it might end up going that route, all things considered.” Khitti stood once more, “I suppose I should leave you to return to your work, then.”

Feelings. What is Bradyn supposed to do with feelings? Khitti does not need to say it for Bradyn to pick up on her frustration, but any response in that regard would meant that he would be *gasp* expressing feelings. In a city as large as Cenril, it was fairly commonplace for citizens to pass from old age or accident, there was work to be done for sure. The dead had all the time in the world though, which is why the mortician is not quick to leave his seat to return to his work. There had been a decent amount of time since he had a conversation with either Khitti or Larewen. The Maharan reasoned in the back of his mind that he would soon encounter Larewen, but he also presumed that any discussion they had would be political in nature rather than related to the guild. She would want House Mahara to declare support for her civil war plans, he was almost certain. And he was just as certain that this is not something that he was interested in doing. So the Maharan speaks his mind, delaying Khitti's departure at least long enough for him to get his thoughts out. "Before you go, I would like to state something. We already know that Larewen is preoccupied with her civil war, any interaction that I have with her from here on out is likely to be related to that. She has her focuses. With that in mind, despite any grievances you might have...Before you make any final decisions on leaving, I would like to declare that I would like to assume a teaching position." Which he separates from 'sponsorship', thank you. "Luctisonus." He waits.

Khitti eyed Bradyn carefully as he spoke his thoughts. She even blinked a couple times. He… wanted to teach? Bradyn. This Bradyn. Super grumpy Bradyn. Super grumpy Bradyn whom she suspected might be a serial killer in his off hours after the way he acted with Lorkain and the resurrection stuff that one day. “Of course, you can,” she said at length after that long, ridiculous thought process. “I’m quite certain that you never should’ve been my student to begin with. It probably should’ve been the other way around, but that’s a discussion that should’ve been had with Larewen a long time ago. I didn’t because, well--” Khitti gestured vaguely at the air around them, as if to signify the words they’d had about her just a short time ago. “I will update things at the guild headquarters to reflect as such. Congrats.” She said this last bit with a smile and a brief wave, then left, letting him return to his work.
