Part of the Returning Niawtu to Vuryal Arc

Summary: Ilydia, Sarah, and Akalamdug plot to rescue Niawtu from the evil Ranok

Characters: Ilydia, Sarah, Akalamdug

LOCATION: In a small cavern

Ilydia leaned against a wall within the dark tunnel, an eerie echo the only sound to be heard. She looked for her companions as she pondered what to do before finally looking up as more sounds came. It seemed that the others had found their way safely though they had not quite arrived just yet. Awaiting them, she took out a few items for their "picnic" of sorts and sat down sipping a small bottle of milk.

Sarah looks around curiously, holding onto her top hat for security. She disliked the darkness, but she could stand it."What are we doing, miss?" she asks curiously as she makes it over to Ilydia.

Akalamdug doesn't bother sitting or moving towards the refreshments, "Now we begin. Does either you have an inkling as to the whereabouts of this mutt wraith? I am willing to commit whatever atrocity in order to apprehend her." The priest's left hand moves to stroke his chin, "Others will be searching for her. We must strike before they do."

Ilydia sipped on her drink before she spoke. "We seek the wraithling child, Niawtu. However, our reasons do not matter. The bounty on her head, fifty-thousand gold per person is a significant amount which rather means that it is in our best interests to find people seeking the goal of reaching her. Yet, whether you are good..." Ilydia eyed Sarah then, "Or evil..." A glance at Akalamdug, "Does not matter. We can fight when we reach her. Until then we should work together and find others willing. For some of us who are evil, we can pretend to be good until the last moment. For those who are good, they will seek to protect this wraithling. Regardless, our goals meet at a simple point: Finding and reaching Niawtu." Ilydia looked carefully at the two as she smiled, "As for her location, I have very little knowledge except that a man named Ronak knows her location and likely keeps her hidden. I saw him leave westwards from Kelay's Tavern though he ran quickly and I soon lost him. I have some inkling as to where she might be, likely in some fortress of sorts, but I do not know the exact details." Ilydia now spoke directly to Sarah, "And of course, if for no other reasons, there is always the money and enjoyment of learning that some may desire to join the search."

Akalamdug nods, pacing in front of the other two gathered slowly, and deliberately, "A wraith is a form of undead, similar to my own condition, yet very much different. I am impressed by them really. You need not know more than that, save for the fact that they are extremely powerful, and not easy to kill. But they are not our concern at the moment. We will need to locate this fortress, the wraithlings location in the fortress, and we will need to gather a force strong enough to breach this fortress. That being said, we will need those who are strong in the fighting arts. My own God will not grant me supplication unless it is for his own glory, or my immediate defense. Since I am choosing to place myself in danger for a task that is not directly related to furthering His own ends, it might be difficult to gain empowerment during this insurgent. I will have to sacrifice someone to Him before the quest in order to gain some semblance of backing."

Sarah tilts her head further"Your own god? Also..Im not very strong..." she admits quietly.

You looked at the two and sighed, "Child, you may not be strong, but if you seem innocent, you may find information more easily than a vampire and a... " She eyed Akalamdug then carefully, "Another entity that doesn't seem very friendly to a casual eye." She grinned there and moved away from the entrance as she began to pace, "As for a sacrifice, that may be fairly simple. I am not allowed to kill or turn anyone into a vampire, but... That doesn't mean we can't use say, a few hundred slaves in some drow mine." Ilydia licked her fingers then as if fondly remembering something. "Still, the key now is to find people willing to help, we must act as if good, surely not a problem for the girl, but perhaps a little more difficult for those who have walked the more evil path for too long."

Sarah raises her eyebrows"Wait, slaves?!"She says surprised"And do you mean you arent good?...."

Ilydia smiles at Sarah with a slight hunger in her eyes. "Did I not say that good or evil does not matter here? We need to save the wraithling and the lycan girl from Ranok. Our reasons may or may not be good, but our goals remain the same."

Sarah slowly looks over at Ilydia now slightly nervous"Save them? Is Ranok going to do something bad to them?" she asks.

Ilydia said, "One cannot say for sure, but good or bad, he has them and Vuryal is looking for them. And he didn't specify dead or alive, if you get my meaning. It would be better for us to turn the wraithling alive to Vuryal than let someone else turn it in dead, don't you agree?"

Sarah sighs quietly"Yeah...but what if Vuryal is looking for them for a bad reason?" she asks next. She doesn't exactly like what a wraith seems to be, but a child like herself, or younger even, doesn't deserve anything realy bad to happen to them.

Ilydia said, "From what I can tell, wraiths are Vuryal's property anyways. That makes this wraithling stolen property. If someone stole your hat and staff, would you not be upset and want them back?"

Akalamdug smiles at Sarah, "Ranok wants to torture the girl and execute her. He believes her to be an abomination and something to be sent to Hell. The identity of my God is not important. What is important is that you understand what we are trying to do here. Vuryal loves the little wraith girl and only wants what is best for her. It is our duty to return her to him."

Ilydia twisted her hair around her right pointer finger for a few moments before she continued, "Besides, would you rather be hurt a little or dead? Dying is quite final with -very- few exceptions."

Sarah turns her head to Akalamdug"Really? I guess we need to help that girl then. I hope she's alright, but...wait how do you have a god?" she asks, leaning more on her staff, a little too much, as she falls down on her side"ow! Argh not again!"

Akalamdug sighs at Sarah, "I am a priest. I am a liaison between my God and the few others who worship Him. Again that is not important." He turns to Ilydia, "Do you know of any immediate others who might be interested in joining us?"

Ilydia smiled at Sarah as she moved near Sarah, "We would be helping a kidnapped wraithling return to her loving master and be rewarded for doing so, what could be better joy for someone serving the greater cause?" Ilydia now stood by Sarah as she revealed her teeth. "Of course, if you betray us, vampires are well known for their love of fresh blood. Not that I think you would betray us, after all, you are a good girl right?" Ilydia now turned towards Akal and sighed, "There is one small problem... I will need to ask a favor from both of you."

Sarah sits bolt up and blinked"Uhm...of course not! Haha..." she stands up dusting herself off, being extremely nervous at the current moment.

Ilydia said to Akalamdug, "Unfortunately, none other than what we have here today. We will need to be careful yet bold. Our time is limited yet the dangers are many.""

Akalamdug nods at her words, "I see. What would this favor be if I may be so bold?"

Ilydia said, "I am under bonds to be punished for certain actions and my master is considering to do some experiments upon me which is part of why my meeting with Niawtu and the lycan girl is so important and pressing. If I don't make it in time, the child within me may die and without her..." Ilydia smiled wryly as she spoke, "I won't be of much help to our hunt."

Akalamdug nods slowly, "And you need us to help you with this how? If it means reaching our goal then I imagine we have little choice."

Ilydia said, "Well, first question is whether or not your God would see fit to grant her a small protection, if not then I suppose there are other ways..." "Finding the wraithling and the lycan girl will be the simplest way to prevent any problems. However, in the event that we do not have time for that, I need you to find something that will keep away evil without killing evil... And I'll need you to bury it within my body.""

Sarah just leans on the wall listening quietly, too nervous to talk at the moment.

Akalamdug sneers at the idea, "My God protects no one who is of no use to him. Forgive my blunt amusement, but the very idea. My dear it simply will not happen. There are indeed other ways. As for keeping darker powers away when one does not wield a sword that sprays bright light? A show of force is the only way. No spirit attacks a stronger foe if they know what is good for them. Unfortunately you will have to seek out a more.. benevolent supplication if you wish to enchant an item to guard yourself from 'evil.'"

Ilydia said, "Oh, I don't expect you to find the item or put it into me, I just need you to cut me open-carefully. I expect the girl to find and place the item."

Akalamdug said to you, "I see then. The girl finds the item and I cut you open. Sounds lovely. I am not one to go traipsing through dungeons in quest of an anti-demon amulet, or whatever it is that will be used. A young, untested mage could earn some stripes amongst her community should she find such an item." "

Sarah snaps her head up to Ilydia"Wait...cut you open!?" she exclaims. Wouldn't that hurt? Or perhaps kiill you? Then again this is a vampire she's speaking to...

Ilydia ||She pondered the pain and smiled fondly for a moment before she shook her head, snapping out of her brief daze. "Oh don't worry, it won't kill me as long as it is done by someone with skill. As for hurting me... Don't worry, I enjoy being in pain almost as much as I enjoy..." Ilydia simply allowed her smile to finish her the sentence.

Sarah shudders. Ilydia seemed nice earlier. Now she just creeps Sarah out a lot. She wishes she just stayed at the Tavern. She sighs quietly shuffling her feet and looking away.

Ilydia sighed as she began walking towards the entrance. "We shouldn't be seen together and should arrange for special secret messages for each other. We'll leave them throughout the roads in subtle manners. Be careful." Ilydia licked her lips and looked at Sarah with care. "Girl, we will be having lots of fun together."

Sarah shuddered as shivers went down her spine. Ilydia scares her, especially when she showed Sarah her fangs,"...uhm, how do we send secret messages? Do we just leave them somewhere? What if someone else finds them?"

Akalamdug nods as the paper is passed to him, "I understand. Perhaps the others are not so organized yet."

Ilydia quietly pulled out some paper and ink before writing some notes down and pressed a paper into Sarah's hand as well as giving one to Akalamdug. "I've written a secret code here to so that we can communicate."

Ilydia said, "no normal person would even recognize them as messages. I've written how to leave them and where to leave them."

Sarah looks curiously at the paper that was pressed into her hand. She's scared but at the same time excited, and she wants to help this Niawtu and Lycan-thing quickly.

Akalamdug nods as the paper is passed to him, "I understand. Perhaps the others are not so organized yet."

Ilydia said, "let us hope not, though we will eventually want to bring the others into our group. The more people the better. Vuryal has lots of money from what I can tell and there are no losses to having more people sharing the wealth."

Sarah looks at Aka,"Others?" she asks curiously.

Ilydia smiled wryly as she continued. "Yet there is lots to lose if we don't go there with sufficient planning."

Akalamdug waves an idle hand at Sarah, "We do not expect you to understand everything child. Just do what we tell you and you will become very, very, -very- rich."

Ilydia said, "Oh, she deserves to know. There are those who wish to hurt the wraithling. We need to find her before they do."

Sarah nods at Ilydia,"Right..." she says turning her head back at her paper,"....Where do you get paper?" she asks almost embarressed as she turned her head back to Ilydia.

Ilydia moved towards Sarah, bending near her so that she could lick Sarah's ear gently as she spoke, "There is a store that sells paper, though for the code you will not need paper, merely rocks at the most."

Akalamdug shrugs and allows Ilydia to continue.

Sarah twitches with a nod,"R-right...! uhm...can I leave yet?" she asks.

Akalamdug grins at Sarah, drinking in her fear like a mortal enjoys a fresh scented pie.

Ilydia said, "Let us leave then, we should get moving. And we need our little girl to get to work, since she has the key role of gathering information."

Akalamdug nods slowly and gestures towards the exit with one clawed hand, "After you."

Ilydia said, "oh, that reminds me, I'm not sure we got each other's names, I am Ilydia of the massacre."

Akalamdug raises a brow, "Just call me Priest. That is all I need be known as."

Sarah looks away"Uhm...Sarah, but..wait what Am I doing? Requesting help for us?" she asks, to make sure.

Ilydia said, "Sarah, you are in charge of learning what you can about where Ranok is hiding Niawtu and you are to see if you can find any blessed item that repels evil without killing it. Lives are at stake here so you must hurry, but be careful for Ranok is very dangerous and treacherous."

Sarah nods once more"Alright...I'll uhm...D-Do my best...," she quickly walks out of the place not wanting to stay here any longer.

Akalamdug nods once more and adds, "Do not reveal your affiliation with us. We are not to be discovered. For now we are the only ones who can save Niawtu."

Ilydia collected her picnic before she left quietly with a slight curtsy towards Akalamdug.
