Steadman

Known only by his last name, the dour and one-eyed barman at the Hanging Corpse Tavern may not seem like a man of mystery and intrigue. But rumours are whispered in Vailkrin town of a marred and mystical past involving prophecy, criminal activity and several torrid affairs.

Aside from his penchant for hurried trysts with cheap, pretty women in the guest rooms at the Corpse, Steadman is an intensely private person and keeps mostly to himself. He has an obviously ambivalent relationship toward his employer, Joliette Thorne, to whom he is at once fiercely loyal and seething with barely disguised resentment.

While maintaining the same air of vague distaste toward the majority of the tavern's customers alike, he has of late been particularly wary of vampires. The rumour mill has it that this is due to two separate events. First, the loss of his eye to the brutal vampire Darian, weaver of illusions. Second, his on-again, off-again romance with Nurse Carmine from the Blood Bank, who is said to have taken a contract out on his life after their most recent breakup.
