Heirloom Floral Dragon-Zither - (Musical Weapon +14)
Creator: Unknown
Last Known Owner: Kanna
Description:

The dragon-zither, or 'koto', is a thirteen-stringed musical instrument crafted from swirl-patterned wood of the foxglove tree. It has been named the dragon-zither due to its shape resembling a crouched sea dragon. In it's first form, one maintained for hundreds of years: The soundboard has been painted with a thick, clear lacquer, revealing inlays of finely detailed foxglove flowers carved from thin layers of an opalescent material. From sight alone, the flowers seem to be made of mother of pearl, with the stems of amber. Despite being nearly seven feet wide, the center of the instrument seems to have a series of wooden locking mechanisms, allowing it to be split three ways once the strings have been loosened, then folded over and placed in it's accompanying case for transport. On the instrument's underside is a list of previous owners, with most of them sharing surnames. Most notably is the bottom-most name lightly carved in a child's handwriting. There is no surname, just "kaNNa".

History:

Kanna's heirloom floral dragon-zither is her birthright as crown princess of the Isles of Ikari. The bond of the dragon-zither to it's owner is soulbound by an ancient ritual, the details of which have been long lost to time, save for the fact that the bond transfers to those in the royal bloodline, of which Kanna is the last. A symbol of hope for her people, it forged centuries ago during a period of colonization by the Rynvalian high elves with pearls of onnionts to seal the powerful magic within. The pearls from this freshwater serpent were said to act as a powerful “charm” for good luck and prosperity, as well as granting the wearer powerful charisma. Unfortunately, should one fail to provide it with care or offer it blessings, this will become a terribly unlucky artifact. Not knowing this due to the knowledge's forfeiture to the Repository of Remembrance, Kanna carried the instrument's curse for twenty arduous years. The culmination of her unluck resulted in her crossing paths with the God of Undeath.

The dragon-zither was severely damaged as a result of the removal of the pearl petals, making it unusable.
