The Gualortan Tribe

Internal Security Defense and Law Enforcement Guard of Gualon

The Gualortan Tribe are a somewhat more advanced and sophisticated form of orc who have learned to combine the ways of civilized folk with their own traditional ways of brutish barbaric life. The Gualortan have become a police force for the laws of a more civilized Gualon. The tribe considers themselves keepers and enforcers of the laws and try to uphold the ideals placed into effect by the treaties within the city. They are the sworn protectors and security force within Gualon and attempt to control the other orc tribes from getting out of hand as well as watching out for any injustice taking place in the swampy lands. The tribe tends to stay in Gualon and does not travel often to war in other lands. It is the Gualortans' first and primary job to defend the city of Gualon and keep secure her lands and hunting grounds; additionally, over time and as commerce and merchant trade increased in the city, the Gualortan have added internal security to their repertoire, establishing a presence with the long founded City Guard. Gualortan Orcs have the highest intelligence of their tribal brethren. It is not unusual for a Gualortan orc to be mostly fluent in common, and also able to write with some degree of sophistication (though frequently, they employ an orphan for their literary endeavors). Gualortan are brutish, but the least likely to break the treaty with the humans. Thus, some humans are incredibly loyal to this tribe, and will frequently seek out the orcs for personal security jobs.

It is because of the advancement in linguistics and higher intellect that the Gualortan have set themselves apart from the other orc tribes. They are a somewhat more advanced and sophisticated form of orc who have learned to combine the ways of civilized folk with their own traditional ways of brutish barbaric life. The Gualortan have become a police force for the laws of a more civilized Gualon. They are not the ruling tribe of Gualonian orcs and do not lead the race as a whole. They are however the main political force within the city when it comes to orc kind and work closely with the ruling authority of Gualon itself. Besides political issues and law enforcement this tribe is also integral when planning out battle strategy and plans for war involving the orc race. The Gualortan work closely with the ruling war tribe to construct a decisive plan of action regarding all military endeavours. It is not uncommon to find a Gualortan Tribe orc act as an advisory council to a ruling war tribe general. The wisdom and knowledge that this tribe brings to the table has become much appreciated by the ruling war time tribes warriors and leaders. With the aide of the Gualortan less orcs are lost as battle casualties and wars tend to end sooner that without their informative help.

Unkgualsid

Language of the Gualortan Tribe of Gualonian Orcs

The language of the orcs is mainly adopted from and adapted from the languages of other races. It has never been organized and written down and uniformed. The language changes from tribe to tribe and area to area. The orcs are not know for originality of dialect and until the Gualortan, orcs have never constructed a formal language. Unkgualsid is the language spoken and written by the Gualortan Tribe located in the swamps of Gualon. The language is a mixture of ancient languages of other races, common tongue of the humans and a variety of original words based on common sound formations spoken within the tribe. Gualortan orcs are able to speak and understand parts and pieces of other basic languages well enough to comprehend and navigate general conversation, yet they are only completely fluent when it comes to Unkgualsid. Reading the written language is of course a whole other story. The Gualortan can only read Unkgualsid and basic common runes. They are not intelligent enough to learn to read other languages as it is hard enough for the race to factor in speaking parts of them. The orphans of Gualon have been teaching the Gualortan how to properly write, maintain and preserve their constructed language. The current head of this tribe is also attempting to integrate the Gualortan language into the other tribes so that inter tribal communications are more uniformed and easier on the Gualonian orc community.

(An online translator for Unkgualsid to common tongue/English is being created)

Leadership

The leader and head of the Gualortan Tribe, like most all other tribes, is known as the Tribal Chieftain. This position is chosen not only due to who is the biggest and strongest, but also depends on the wisest of the tribes orcs. Any orc within the tribe may request the blessing of the tribe to declare himself as a potential challenger for the leadership position. Should the tribe agree that the orc is suitable for the challenge, they then formally face the current acting chieftain. A battle takes place between the two combatants using basic melee weaponry and hand to hand combat. The fight typically takes place in the Gualon Arena or the Orc Encampment itself. The match is judged to insure fairness by mutually agreed upon individuals. The judges tend to be from within the tribe, or are respected outsiders generally prominent citizens of the city whom are trusted within the orc community. The battle is not to the death, although death certainly is not unheard of in such battles. The victor of the match earns the right to be declared as Tribal Chieftain and all members must respect the authority of said position. There is no limit to a chieftains reign or the amount of times they can be challenged for this position.
