Description
Information on those known as Executioners are very limited. Often only being witnessed in public when one of higher status calls on their skills for court. This class has long been known as the perfunctory killers in most societies. Those chosen for the roles are usually fighters with curious dispositions, or children with long-deceased parents. The ages of these fighters must fall between thirteen and sixteen. Lore of the Executioner states that only two at a time are chosen by the leader, also known as ‘Martinet’. After the two fledglings are chosen, the three simply close themselves off from the outside world. Months pass before any, including other family members and leaders of the town, are allowed to view the new Executioners in their transformed states. After their dehumanizing tutelage the Executioners are released for private use. Acting as the literal axe to the head of criminals in the town. Though these characters do assume a rather ‘hidden’ role in life, they are paid handsomely for each task completed. Yet this class is far from that of a mercenary. They are not hired killers save for in the role of royalty. Having been raised for the use of Kings and Queens, the Executioner is free to do as they please outside of the town. So long as they adhere to the rules of their title. While nothing is known for certain about this class, rumored rules from volumes long collecting dust include:
- Wearing their “Harbor” at all times of work. From what folklore explains the Harbor was a covert word for their hoods.
- Never should the title be spoken by their own lips.
- An Executioner should never allow business outside of their homeland to be linked with their Raised Royalty. Meaning the leaders of the town/community they were raised for. Business conducted away from their home must be kept private.
- If rumors erupt of your title, do not deny it. Silence regarding this is paramount.
- The Executioner will serve their Raised Royalty until death. Even if travel takes them from their homeland, an Executioner is indebted to their raisers for a lifetime.
All information regarding the Executioner should be considered folklore. Save for their title and murderous role in Lithrydel annals, this class should be considered a myth unless personal admittance by a true Executioner is given.
