Physiology

Genasi are extremely rare beings born or possessing qualities of an elemental, while not being a true elemental themselves. Their appearance varies greatly depending upon which race they take after, as well as which element they are attuned to and how. Earth Genasi are perhaps the most unassuming of the known genasi species, oft able to blend well with the general populous, if thought of as somewhat eccentric by those around them. They are noticeably fond of nature and earth, occasionally to such an extreme degree that they will decorate their bodies with large, rocky spines, or possess skin dusted with glimmering shards of gemstones, or will grow vines and flowers in their hair, effectively distinguishing them from others while showcasing their love of their element. Earth Genasi are said to enjoy dressing themselves in earthen hues, such as forest greens and deep browns and greys, accented with gold, but are quite content to ruin them and wander around covered head-to-toe in mud. Some could almost be mistaken for being travelling bums, with their windblown, weathered look.

Despite coming in a variety of shapes, sizes, and looks, all Earth Genasi share one solid trait - they are naturally attuned to the earth, able to communicate and connect with it at an even deeper level than most mages or druids might. A few are capable of using the earth to see via picking up subtle vibrations passed through the ground, and all can hear the underlying tune of what they call 'earthsong', the world's melody that resides in every aspect of it. They are typically of a warm, calm, peaceful nature, fitting with their euphonious voices that resemble a serene landscape untouched by civilisation and industry; though when angered or casting they usually sound far harsher, speaking in powerful tones that ripple and rumble like shifting rock.

Psychology

They are happy to explore anywhere from mountain ranges to vast deserts alone, living comfortably in solitude. A trait they share with many monks is the desire to spend time alone and undisturbed with their element, where they might speak with it and meditate. Even so, Earth Genasi tend to be exceedingly inquisitive beings and will not shun company, always incredibly curious about the individuals they meet. They are at their happiest when surrounded both by nature and people to occupy their attentions, with a space of their own to seclude themselves within when they wish to be by themselves, and they are generally very amiable and pleasant things, prone to asking many questions due to their desires to learn about other people. These particular genasi often possess the unshakeable stubbornness of solid stone, however, which can make them difficult to work with at times.

Earth Genasi Society

Earth Genasi often phase themselves into the societies of other races, while maintaining a healthy amount of distance that allows them to disappear when they wish to be more alone. They are usually referred to as Earthsingers, Nature-touched, Spirits of the Forest, and similar titles, due to the way plant life can bloom and flourish around them, and how they hear the songs of rock and stone. As these groups of elementals and demi-elementals are so incredibly rare, there is no known place where many of them gather together and form their own society. Genasi are nomadic by nature and captured by wanderlust, traversing all across the land and rarely settling in one area for too long.

Little is known of elemental societies save ancient tales pertaining to the Great Below, the deepest places in the world, where the reclusive earth elementals are fabled to have created their hidden home and live secluded from all other races.

Earth Genasi & Religion

As far as anyone is aware, Earth Genasi are not known to follow any specific god or goddess, but rather worship the world itself in all its magnificent glory. Monks and priests of this hybrid race adhere to this same worship, although it isn't unheard of them to also devote prayer to the God Hind in particular, as well as the Ascendi Lauria. Some folk view the genasi as nature spirits, or embodiments of the mountains that hinder or aid those seeking passage through them.

Earth Genasi History

Next to no certain records exist on this race and their appearance in bestiaries and legends is scarce, requiring much guesswork, estimation, and gatherings of those vague scraps of information throughout Hollow history. Few accounts are recorded of those genasi that chose to blend with elves and humans, but for the most part little is known of them.
