- Description:
Meaning "Blade of Eternal Misery" in the native Drow language, this intelligent cursed item is possessed by the souls of those whose lives it's taken. These souls remain ever vigilant to skew and control the wielder's mind and body. In times of the wielder's mental or physical weakness it can take full control over the user, instilling them with an uncontrollable blood-lust, even unto death.
An ominous willed blade which casts an aura of darkness when unsheathed, obfuscating the wielder's shadow to a nearly obscuring, black haze. This blade has been rumored to rend incisions through the fabric of space itself when so commanded. In times of rage this item could take control of the wielder's will and cause him or her to perform actions he or she would otherwise not do. Some would consider this a cursed item, as the wielder cannot give it away of his or her own accord. The very possession of this blade causes a marked alteration in the wielder's thoughts and demeanor.
It was shattered into three pieces when it was last seen. It is unclear if it has been restored since then.
- History:
The item was claimed by Keter after conquest of House Sha'rock. Its properties were known to him, but he could not discard the blade due to its cursed nature. The origins of its power is unknown, only that it has changed hands through the most powerful of Drow Houses over time. At the time of Keter's self destruction, possibly brought on by the power of this blade itself, the sword was retrieved by the Dwarf Dergious from Keter's corpse.
The blade then landed in the hands of Kuzial Stavret after becoming him into the Underdark. Having finally sensed a Drow of power and mindset to match it, the sentient sword forced the patron into the Underdark where he retrieved it from the skeleton of a dwarf-like creature. The blade's natural hunger found a more willing companion in the psychotic warrior.
Kuzial used the blade to destroy Shattered Dream and in the process E'et Nilah overtook Kuzial, briefly sending the drow's twisted soul to be incarcerated within the nefarious weapon. But it did not last long. With the... aid... of Tenebrae, the weapon's demons were banished, and once again Kuzial was restored to his body.
Years later Kuzial found himself in battle alongside unlikely ally Gevurah in a fight against the demon Sacrilus (Xersom). During the battle, Kuzial nearly dies and summons E'et Nilah's power into his soulstone to survive. The blade shatters into three pieces in the process. With Kuzial still weak and prone, Gevurah stole the E'et Nilah blade pieces from Kuzial for herself. It was famously her father's blade, after all.
