Scenic View (Xalious)

Oh, the view! You think to yourself, as you overlook this cliff. You feel no fear from this great height, due to the amazing view down the mountain, to a tree-filled valley. From here you can see a large park, with people eating and playing sports of all kinds, as well as rolling hills and a large fountain. Beyond that is the great Xalious Tree, the incarnation that the god of the same name has taken. Also visible from here is a small village resting in a valley in between the mountains, and above that the great Mage Tower, the training place of the spell casters. You think you could stay here forever, taking in these wonderful sights, but you must press on soon. Off to the east, you notice a small hut in rather shoddy condition, probably unused for quite some time. In a quiet corner is a tiny little grave, freshly dug surounded by many flowers, the majority of them being baby's breath and and crisp fresh purple roses. All of them left in tribute for what you expect was a very young soul. A roughly carved statuette of a young feline is here, with, - You will not be forgotten' engraved in the base.

It's a bright and sunny day in the lovely little town known as Xalious. People are gathered around the scenic view with their loved ones enjoying a the beautiful fall weather and picnicking without a care in the world. But all good things must come to an end, right? The earth begins to quake partnered with a thunderous boom that has the population looking around in a mix of confusion and fear. Suddenly at the edge of the cliff an absolutely massive pink hand rises up to crash down and burrow long, sharp claws into the soft soil. Screams of terror erupt as civilians sprint for cover while the gigantic behemoth of a rat crawls up over the side of the cliff standing at over twelve feet tall with the bold words "Radimus Prime" tattooed across it's chest. A hellashish screech erupts from the creature's vocal chords as it looks around to find a target, settling on the black haired male standing defiant just a few yards away. Pressing to all fours the beast begins it's charge with heavy footsteps, saliva and blood falling from it's massive buck teeth until it is within range to whip it's heavy six foot tail towards Linn aiming to slap him clean off the cliff.

Linn was out and about on one of his patrols, taking care to wear his full suit of mithril armor (when doesn’t he?) along with his hood and gas mask over his head to protect himself from the wayward black ooze of his encounters. The rumbling gave him his first clue that something was coming, something *big*. Knowing the coming fight he dropped his pack off of his shoulders and kicked it away to retrieve later before drawing his weapons just as the massive mutant rat came up over the cliff. By the time he had readied himself Radimus Prime was bearing down on him, leaving him barely enough time to dive straight under the path of the tail in an attempt to dodge it, twisting to land on his back as he held his fire-enchanted sword up in front of him before it flared to life with an incinerating white-hot flame as the enchanter pushed the blade’s magic much farther than it was ordinarily made to, allowing the star-like fire itself to carve a path through the flesh of Radimus’s tail in place of the physical body of the blade.

Radimus Prime's assault is dangerously quick for a beast that big but Linn has no trouble dodging the initial attack and launching a counter assault to the creature that was very successful in landing. A ear drum shattering screech of pain is released as the fire branded sword sizzles the soft nearly bare pink flesh of Radimus Prime's tail though the pain doesn't seem to linger too long as the rodent whips around with great agility and rears up onto his hind legs, hops up into the air and uses the freshly wounded tail as a pogo to propel himself forward lashing out with both back legs, the razor sharp claws ready to tear the mithril armor to shreds.

Linn didn’t have time to regret putting himself in a bad position before Radimus was already leaping towards him in an attempt to pin and shred him. Strong as his armor was he knew it wouldn’t stand up to the assault of such a creature. Deciding to use the creature’s size to its disadvantage, with one kick of the foot he spun so that his head faced towards the massive rat and with another kick of both he pushed himself into a slide augmented by the one magic trick he so favored so that it would never slow down, the ground lacking any friction to stop him. He skidded straight into the leap of the creature, aiming to force it into overshooting to have clean access to its underbelly from his position on the ground. The blade was held up like the barb of a stingray as he went in before a bright blue glow sprung from the enchanter’s off-hand and infused the tip of the sword, giving it the sharpness to puncture into the flesh of Radimus in spite of the blade being long-dulled from its ruined temper. The results of such a clash if successful would be painful as the blade would flare up again once inside the mutated body, at the cost of the enchanter being potentially crushed under the massive weight of the creature. Crushed was preferable to shredded though it seems.

Radimus is far too big and dumb to even attempt to stop his attack mid-strike or to enable any sort of evasive maneuver so the rat indeed ends up taking the sword to the stomach yet as fate would have it twelve foot tall rats are pretty resilient creatures. As the blade pierces through a thick layer of flesh and ignites, Radimus grabs the blade with all four of his adorable pink hands and yanks the blade free despite the burning even now as he falls on top of Linn, the absolute massive weight of the creature more than enough to kill the man if it weren't so quick to get back into the fight, Radimus scurries back to his feet ready to fight again within two seconds time despite heavy blood flow from his torso. He suddenly unleashes a final attack on the downed man, opening his massive maw Radimus snaps towards Linn hoping to bite the man clean in half in a final fatal blow.

A burst of blue light came from under Linn’s armor as it attempted to dampen the crushing impact of Radimus’s body. It might have kept the enchanter from instantly dying or going into shock from the blunt trauma, but he was left winded from the blow and his highly aggressive assault. He couldn’t get himself to move and evade the jaws of the creature, instead having to take it like a man with everything he had. He held the sword straight towards the jaws of the beast before pre-emptively activating the hardening enchantments on his armor as the blow came, turning it into a diamond-hard cage around his body in an attempt to break the bite before it broke him. The enchanter could only pray that Radimus would weaken and fall from the blood loss and burns before he was exhausted and broken himself.

Linn wins.

Linn was held rigid in the jaws of the giant rat, the hardness of his magically reinforced armor shattering the first few teeth to impact against it. It took him a second or two to register that he hadn't been thrown over the edge of oblivion into nothingness and that his sword-wielding arm was free of any teeth holding it in place within Radimus's mouth. And just like that, the blade lit up again with the sun-white fire that illuminated the inside of the monster's mouth, the pink and red environment rapidly turning to yellow and then black from the radiant heat of the blade with an intense sizzling. Releasing the rigidity of his own atm he swung upwards with the blazing blade straight up through the roof of the mouth he was in, burying the blade into the flesh before channeling all of his remaining power into the flames of the sword, the resulting geyser of heat blasting up into Radimus's skull and incinerating any and all soft flesh it found. From the outside, nothing would be noticeable about the creature's death, though from within the creature's head was reduced to nothing but a charred husk of a skull.
