Pilar had not expected another duel so soon, and not against her friend. But, the guild wanted what the guild wanted, and she couldn't say no. Not if she wanted to advance. And so, with the whole of Lithrydel at her back, Pilar readied herself. Lightning began to arc between her fingers as she raised her right hand, and a bolt shot forth from her palm, directly at Odhranos. Her other hand was enshrouded in mist and aimed at the ground before her. The mist spread out, caking the earth first in frost, then in a thin sheet of ice.

Odhranos was crouching low to the ground as soon as the signal to begin went. Splaying both of his hands out and pushing forwards towards Pilar, a wave of earth began to build behind the terramancer before sweeping over him and carrying onwards, leaving a thick layer of earth on the mage's skin as armour. The wave continued onwards and began to build into a man-height wall. When the bolt of lightning hit the rock, it was grounded with a shriek while the rock on the wave's surface was melted by the extreme heat. As soon as the bolt had been fully earthed, the wall exploded with a bang, a cloud of deadly molten shrapnel erupting out into a fan across Pilar's side of the field. As soon as the wall exploded, Odhranos let go of his terramantic grip on it and began sprinting to the left as fast as his terramantic control of the earth armour would allow him, stone feet punching into the ground through the thin layer of ice to allow grip.

Pilar yelped and threw up her arms to shield herself from the molten earth. She hissed in pain as it touched her and jumped back, peering through the cloud for a sign of Odhranos. Not that she needed to see him; that pounding as earth collided with earth was enough. She sent out a flurry of fireballs in his direction, running toward him as she did so. Blue flames concentrated in the palms of her hands and she launched herself at Odhranos with all the strength and speed she could muster. Her hands balled into fists and the flames engulfed them. She fired off a cross, a jab, and a right hook in rapid succession, aiming first for the face, and then the ribs. Upon impact, the fire would flare outwards, adding a shockwave effect to her blows.

Odhranos jumped forwards as soon as the roar of the first fireball reached his ears. Letting the earth-armour take the brunt of the first volley, he shed it like a snake sheds skin before diving forwards. Stone shards shredded the ice before he dived beneath the surface, the earth swallowing him in an instant. A slight ridge of disturbed earth raced towards Pilar with alarming speed, correcting trajectory to follow her vibrations, muffled by the icy surface. As soon as he had closed within two feet, while her attention was on him, multiple spikes of stone erupted from the ground behind Pilar's legs, aiming for her still living leg, for the back of the knee joint and the calves, attempting to briefly immobilise her and keep her in one spot.

Pilar stumbled to a stop as he dove beneath the earth and tunneled towards her like a mole. She knelt, placing her palms on the ground, and poured fire into the earth. It wasn't hot enough to turn it to magma, but it would start to cook him if he didn't resurface. There was a searing pain in her leg all of a sudden and she cried out. His spikes had hit their mark. She struggled against the stone, trying desperately to pull herself free. The earth began to crack, but it wasn't enough. Removing one hand from the earth, she placed it on one large spike and pumped ice into the fissures. The ice expanded and the stone cracked, and with one final tug, she yanked her leg clear of the spikes.

Odhranos wins

Odhranos erupted from the earth infront of Pilar, clad in a new set of stone armour. As he shot out of the ground, the lower torso of stone peeled away from him and shot forwards, driving into Pilar's legs, to drive her back onto the spikes she had just freed herself from. Meanwhile, Odhranos arced overhead, pointing his stone clad arms downwards, which too peeled away and separated into a deadly hail of shards which rained down on the vampire's head and shoulders, before solidifying into stone bars to keep her completely trapped. Finally, using the remaining stone that clad his chest, the mage slowed his fall and he landed in a crouch behind Pilar, before shrugging the stone away and turning to face his opponent.

Pilar grunted as the stone encased her. She struggled against her bonds, but eventually sighed. She didn't have much fight in her anymore. She didn't have much to begin with. “You win, Odhranos.” She looked him over. “You're not hurt too badly, are you?”

You strode across and laid a hand on the stone, crumbling it beneath his fingertips to free his friend. "A little singed, but nothing too bad. Eyebrows can grow back, I hope! What about yourself? I hope your leg isn't in too bad a state." The mage helped her free of the rubble and to her feet, lending her a hand to walk if she needed it. "Let's get you back to the Guild, we can find you a bed and I can give you some blood to heal you up."
