Duel:Knelltic v Kumorohyou

From HollowWiki
Wildlands Nature seems to have totally taken over here. The grass is the height of a tall hobbit, and although you can't see anything in it, you hear rustling, and the sounds of small, but viscious creatures. Wild flowers are dotted inbetween the blades of grass, also unusually tall. What force is at work here? If the grass and flowers have grown to this size, what about the creatures here?

Kumorohyou can be seen near the border of giant trees that led to the southern jungle area, the upper part of the panther's white robe having been removed. On his chest and arms is a peculiar armor, as if the Fold armor's had been changed and expanded. The plating fit in with an unnatural seamlessness, the material itself a steel-colored, chitinous substance, as if the feline had an exoskeleton instead of fur. His belt has a number of compartments, and there is a katana and wakizashi tied at one side.

Knelltic Daeion, Arcane Steward of Necromancy and Apprentice to the Eldermage, stands before his opponent with a devious smirk upon those thin lips. This shaman has been quite the nussience, and today he would be dealt with in a most severe manner . The forsaken elf's right hand is extended out as the mystical staff gifted to him by the mages guild seems to appear from out of thin air into his adept hands. Slender digits wrap about the now petrified wood, which holds a startling resemblence to bone, as arcane words pour from his lithe frame in rappid succession to call forth upon the necromantic powers he possesses. The amber stone that rests atop the staff's crown glows with an ominious power as the spell reaches it's climax, causing from behind the feline a strange rusting sound from within the tall grass that is so dominate in this area. Without warning do three dinosaurs known as raptors seems to erupt from from the concealment of the grass to lunge upon their newfound prey. These primal hunters move with deadly grace, closing in upon Kumorohyou from three locations in a unified attack that aims to disembowel the shaman so that these creatures may gorge upon his flesh. Even in undeath the raptors possess a speed and power that far surpasses the normal humanoid, and now without the need for air or because of the exhaustion felt by living creatures, these undead hunters can carry out their intended task seemingly without end. Hunters who do not tire, do not stop, do not care for their own well being. A true terror for any creature, and a terro that is very real for Kumorohyou as the first of the trio lun ges for his feet from his left flank, while the other two leap forth with a ferocity unkown to civilized men, with the intent of killing the feline with one blow. The first uses its powerful jaws, the raptor aiming for the felines legs, while the other two use the razor sharp talon in a powerful slash that is ment to severe Kumorohyou's midsection in twine with one powerful swipe.

Kumorohyou's keen ears pick up the sound of rustling behind him, and as the undead reptiles close in on him, the panther pulls out what appears to be a silver canister from his belt, dropping it at his feet before jumping straight into the air. Upon reaching a critical height from the gather raptors, the shaman points a finger towards the canister, shouting, "Byakurai!" before a jet of unstable spirit particles impacts the canister, which unfortunately contains a destabilized Chaos shard. With the unstable particles intermingling with the Chaos energy, the canister begins to hiss slightly before it explodes in a blinding white light, the blast shredding both the matter and essence of the necromantic minions as they are caught in the explosion. Landing, the panther draws his blades, which emit a high pitched whir as they glow blue. Spirit pressurized, the panther makes a winding line towards his enemy, and were it not for the trail of blue light behind him, one would think he were teleporting. A series of slashes follows, the shaman aiming for tendons and ligaments rather than vital organs. Crippling, rather than killing.

Knelltic watches as the undead creations he summoned forth fail in their task of ending the shaman's existence, and those slender brows crease in frustration as he is faced with defending himself against the feline's assault. The magical blades of the feline meet the powerful protective wards of the dark magi, the two opposing magical forces clashing, sending sparks of magical energy flying about in an impressive display of colors. But it seems the spirit pressurization is a tad bit greater than protective wards used by Knelltic, and one blade finds the upper thigh of the forsaken elf, and cuts deep into the pale flesh. Precious vitae flows forth, staining the ground before the necromancer crimson, the cry of agony muffled by the quick utterance of another spell, Knelltic using his staff to try and push Kumorohyou back as the spell in completed. From out of the dense bush erupts a darkness that is most unnatural, the dull rhythm of a constant buzzing seeming to drown out everything else within the immediate area. Within seconds the true nature of what has been unleashed upon Kumorohyou is apparent, as the wave of darkness is revealed for what it truly is. Hundreds, if not thousands of insects swarm about the feline now, the undead bugs brought back to life in a plot most sinister. These particular beetles are known to feed off the larger dinosaurs that are native to this land, pincer like mandibles protrude from jaws that are lined with teeth made to tear through the thick and tough hides of such gigantic beasts. The swarm descends upon their intended meal now, the pests looking for any crevice in which they can enter and seek out flesh. The eyes, nose, mouth and the openings in his armor all become targets for these undead insects, their intent to eat the shaman from the inside out, causing as much pain as one could imagine, should the feline not find a way to escape such a horrible fate...

Kumorohyou staggers back as the Elf pushes with his staff, the shaman nearly stepping right into the army of undead beetles. Forging a dome of stable Spirit energy around him, which wasn't meant to hold for long against an army of undead beetles, the shaman pulls out his Porro prism, the geometric crystal glowing vibrantly with a pent up energy. In a maneuver that was nearly 2 years in the making, the panther releases his hold on the prism, which suspends itself in mid-air, Kumori muttering another exotic phrase, "Kai desu...Hiketsu no yasen." The crystal's faces begin to alter, like a triangular Rubik's cube, before splitting into fragments and scattering in every conceivable direction. These tiny prism shards form a ring around the area, beginning to rotate rapidly in unison. A great ring of turquoies light envelops the area, quickly becoming a dome of intense Spirit pressure. This power was affectionately dubbed the Arena Matrix, forcing the combatants into melee combat unless the dome is somehow taken out. The magic governing the beetles is becoming stifled, leaving little more than a pile of chitinous corpses as the feline's barrier of Spirit particles is also suppressed. Katana in one hand and wakizashi in another, the feline quickly approaches his foe, aiming to unleash another onslaught of slashes on Knelltic's motor functions.

Knelltic watches as this dome is created, and allows once more for a confident smirk to form upon his shadowed features. His magical abilities were indeed trifled, almost seemingly useless, but what this foolish shaman has not considered is the unholy talisman that hangs from his neck. Necromancy, while a dark and mysterious form of magic, is also a religion, and as such, Knelltic calls upon his god, Vakmatharas, to augment his control over the undead. The dark god answers his chosen, the forsaken elves having always been in the Lord of Shadows favor. Kumorohyou rushes forth, so foolishly confident in his abilities that perhaps he would not see the necromancer's next spell being unleashed. From the palm of his hands erupts forth a wave of darkness, much like a rolling wave sent forth to crush the shaman in the unholy power of the Supreme God of Death's wrath. This power drains Knelltic considerably, the effects clearly evident as he strains to contain the vast power that now flows through him. The dome is filled with the unnatural darkness, and much similar to the feline's spirit pressure, a tremendous weight can be felt to those who do not worship the Lord of Shadows feverishly. At the spells climax, Knelltic clenches his fist, causing the darkness to suddenly collapse in upon Kumorohyou, imploding if you will, with the shaman's own anti-magic dome. If the feline does not find some way of escaping the unholy power beset upon him, he will be crushed within the eternal darkness that now descends upon him.

Kumorohyou gets knocked back by the dark energy, the panther forced into a kneeling position as the energy crushes in on him. As he groans in intense pain, he notices a whip of Vakmatharas's energy knock the strange turquoise bead from his person. At that moment, time seems to slow down, the shaman's eyes widened in horror. Looking up at Knelltic, Kumori shouts, "Do you realize what you've d-!" Without warning, a massive shockwave originates in the center, causing the trees to bend like grass in the wind as a pillar of pure-white light connects the earth with the sky, blasting through the Arena Matrix and the darkness. A sound akin to a hurricane or cyclone can be heard, accompanied by a cacophony of unearthly howls and screeches, like an army of angry souls rising up. Upon further examination, the trees close to the pillar of light begin to wilt and die, as if undergoing rapid decay, the bark becoming black as coal. Should such a scenario play out, Kumori's Spiritual sensitivity would force him to feel everything around him as it dies, the trees' lifeforce being stifled by his very existence. The lines of white light covering Kumori's body were bright enough to obscure his facial features. He had to end this quickly, or he would go mad with the agony he feels. Flashing forward like a high-speed spectre, the shaman moves to get around behind his opponent, his glowing-white katana screaming like a banshee as he slashes at the Forsaken's hamstrings. Though it could not be seen at the moment, tears were streaming from the feline's eyes, his fully unleashed power having become his own personal Hell.

Knelltic watches in some awe as the expulsion of power is released, and as the "Arena Matrix" is shattered, the death that is caused by Amorphous' presence feeds the necromancer's drained form, like fuel to a dying fire. With startling celerity he turns upon his heel, the malign aura of death that shrouds his lithe frame seemingly becoming overwhelming in nature. The blinding white light envelopes the entire area just as Knelltic's renewed powers reach their peak, and as Kumorohyou charges forth. The light devours the two combatants, easily seen for miles and miles as it rises high into the sky. What happens next is unknown, as only time will tell once the light subsides...

Winner: Kumorohyou, 2-1 vote

Autohit Victory Post:

Kumorohyou feels his katana slice through both the necromancer's legs, cutting the hamstrings and forcing the foe to his knees. Pausing to pick up his hair bead and put it back in place, reducing his power to its normal strength, the shaman's face can be seen, the tears flowing freely as he reaches down and grabs Knelltic by the back of his neck, his hands shaking slightly as he says, "This is not how I wanted to win. The cost became so high." The panther decides to give the honor of a quick death as he sends a wave of Spirit particles through the Forsaken's nervous system, shutting down synapses leading to the Purkinje fibers in the man's heart.

Knelltic’s heart explodes, and the man dies.
