Duel:Gunnar v Samir

From HollowWiki

Judges: Awne, Trishtar, Mahri (mid) Stakes: if Samir wins, gunnar will take him to meet with the jarl of frostmaw. If Gunnar wins, he gets an auto hit round. Winner: Samir, unanimous vote.

Samir oocly notes that Samir is a spellblade, without magical abilities. His status comes from the mixture of physical and psionic abilities which he is training. Rather than causing flames to jump up on his blade, Samir might swing his blade with normal force, and then mere inches away from contact throw his entire mental force into it as well. Psionist spell-blade. All abilities however are in direct relation to his own body/weapon. i.e. Samir has telekinetic abilities, but they are not strong enough to effect large changes far from himself.

Samir 's eyes flash dangerously, the avian obviously loosing patience with this exchange quickly upon not receiving what he desires. His right hand descends heavily to the longsword belted upon the opposite hip, and a firm grasp wraps around the hilt, yet does not draw his weapon just yet. With a step forward, the Avian is utterly dwarfed in comparison to Gunnar but holds his ground steadily despite such an overwhelming physical disability. "I am done, perhaps you will be more accomodating when I cut you down!" From the exact moment that speech ceases Samir is on the move, surging forward with a decent amount of speed, though nothing dazzling. The Avian rushes straight for the fork between Gunnar's large legs, which were easily the size of tree trunks and built solid with walls of thick muscle. He stops, twists deftly to the left in a semi circle which carries him around Gunnar's right leg. He ends the quick motion on the Giant's right side, looking straight at a knee larger than his own face. From amidst the newly kicked up dust and bits of gravel the sound of metal scraping metal rings clearly through the area as the Avian looses his long sword. There is very little emotion in his form, each move being completed mechanically as Samir rips the weapon with both hands hard upward and to the right, blade seeking to dig itself a neat little gash across the Giant's vulnerable knee and outer thigh.

Gunnar Stormbeard eyes the avain as he begins his advance upon him, a wry smirk froming underneath the long, thick, and neatly braided beard that covers most of the frost giant's battle ridden visage. " Cut me down aye?" The Standard Bearer to the Jarl of Frostmaw simply chuckles. " Many of yer kind have stated such already, and yet here I am." With this said, Gunnar massive right hand reaches across his bulging chest to grasp the leather-bound shaft of his fabled warhammer, the mighty weapon brought forth just as the avian unleashes his swift attack upon him. Samir's blade meets the strange, chaotically aligned metal of the meteorite leggings that the warrior currently wears. Sparks erupt forth in responce, as the spellblade wicked blade slashes across Gunnar's leg, knicking the metal until it meets a tender spot, whick breaks under the power of the avian and digs deep into the tough, leather-like skin of the giant. Dark, thick blood covers the blade now, which also spurts forth and stains the gravel covered ground. A grunt follows this, Gunnar's teeth clenching in pain as he swings his wrhammer in a spiraling arch that is aimed to slam into the avian's exposed back and send him flying. The warhammer's blue-steel head is wrought with ancient runes of power, which flare to life as the attack nears its mark. Electricity now wreathes the fabled weapon, adding to the danger of Gunnar's mighty swing. Should Samir not evade the frost giant's attack, he would find himself stricken by a force that could cripple, if not kill, him on the spot. But even if the mighty hammer was to knick the avain, the electric current would be enough to daze the avain enough to give Gunnar an easy target for his next attack...

Samir 's eyes travel upward swiftly to follow his own blade's trajectory as it exits his foe and meets clear sky once more. Yet from above descends a weapon more closely resembling a boulder plummeting earth-ward than any sort of official implement of destruction. The Avian's eyes bulge momentarily from their sockets in shock as the humanoid's brain begins reeling and franticly working out the possibilites of escape. There were very few. Less than three seconds remain from impact, and the mass of adrenaline released in Samir's panic finally forces him into a fanatic dive forward rather than away. The goal is to maintain proximity, not allowing the Frost-Giant to use his superior range against the much smaller Avian. Samir's left arm raps tightly behind Gunnar's right leg, and the avian uses it to increase the rate of his escape by pulling brutally against the unmoving limb. The earth splits in twain as Gunnar's hammer smashes into empty ground where Samir had stood moments later, and the dust kicked up obscures the avian from view as he hits another patch of ground quite hard and rolls over his shoulder. As he rises to a crouch large bits of gravel are visible sticking from torn skin across the shoulders and chest, terribly painful but by no means life threatening. As the dust begins to settle positions are revealed once more, and Samir can be made out in a low stance several feet behind Gunnar. His muscles burn and veins pump battery acid as the Avian pushes off with all his might against the ground, launching forward to attack the same target from a different angle. The unholy blade in his hands rips through the air, whistling merrily as it seeks to tear through the inner thigh of his frost giant opponent and sever the large artery which beats rythmically below the surface.

Gunnar coughs viciously as the assault he unleashed brings forth a thick cloud of dust, but does not make contact with its target. The force of his swing also makes the frost giant's tumble some feet forward, which in its own right is his saving grace. Samir's blade is met by the thick iron coated underfooting of the spiked boots that the frost giant currently wears. The thud sends a terrible vibration up the already wounded leg of the warrior, whom lets out a thungerous roar of pain in responce to the attacl as he lands upon his good knee in the thick gravel that covers the area. A small tremor shakes the knoll as Gunnar's massive weight slams into the earth, but the giant's reflexes, which are honed from years of training in the frozen tundra that is Frostmaw, have him back up within moments by means of the warrior rolling forward, his good leg thrusted outward in attempt to impale the charging avian with the elongated spike that protrudes out of the toe of the armoured boot. The power behind such an attack is incrediable, but it is more a decoy to the second attack which comes quickly there after. The warhammer is once again utilized as it is unleashed towards Samir's form by means of the warhammer's blue-steel head being pointed towards the avian. As the ancient runes of power continue to flare with life, the electrical enchanments about the fabled weapon continue to reveal themselves. A single, powerful bolts of lightning erupts forth from the crown of this mighty weapon, the bolt aimed at the chest of the spellblade in hopes of stunning the man, or paralyzing if possible. Gunnar wished not to kill this stranger, but his assault was not to go unpunished...

Samir can't even roar in pain as he is lifted from the ground, all air being forced from his lungs as the tipped spike of Gunnar's boot glances away the spell-blade's sword and digs into his side. The force of that impact is so great that three ribs shatter instantly and the Avian is thrown away at breakneck speed. A dull thud issues forth as Samir hits the rough ground and a great deal of skin rips away from the friction of sliding across such rough earth. However the distance which is put between the two removes the danger from Gunnar's electrical onslaught, the lightning not powerful enough to close the gap and make and sort of direct contact. Coughing and spewing copious amounts of crimson fluid forward over his already bloody chest Samir struggles to his feet, barely maintaining his newly won footing as he stumbles drunkenly. The tip of his sword is shoved into the ground to act as a makeshift crutch as the Avian closes his eyes and looks defeated. For a long moment he does not move, does not even acknowledge the presence of battle before him and he allows his frost giant foe a chance to regain it's standing. Unbenounced to all Samir was not just standing idly by and waiting to be crushed, no his was in a state of deep meditation, running through the routines he had practiced and preparing himself, gathering all of his strength for one final hurrah. The momentary peace shatters as Samir's eyes burst open, Electric blue irises contracting and concentrating solely Gunnar's right leg. With a disturbance of air flow around him a shunt of some invisible force is released, sending a cascade of crimson droplets flying from his form as Samir takes to the air. For being wounded he moves quite fast and unencumbered, having mentally shut off his own pain response. He darts this way and that, powerful beats of his large jet wings tossing him easily through the air as he hurtles closer and closer to gunner. Without warning his wings fold up once more, dropping Samir hard to the ground before his opponent and he rolls, reataining a crouch once more between the legs of the enemy. From the inside joint he would attack this time, yet not with a sword. Desperately he pushes forward, left arm extended to make flat contact against the inside of Gunnar's right knee. A moment of silence follows before *CRACK* a loud blast sounds through the air as Samir releases a great blast of mental energy, hoping to force the knee outward from it's natural resting place and shatter it altogether.

Gunnar 's icy-blue orbs follow the avian's flight as he does indeed regain his own footing. His wounded leg still bleeds profusely as he takes to a defensive battle stance, the frost giant's massive form now becoming his greatest means of defence. The avian had speed on him, this was no doubt, but as Samir lands upon the ground Gunnar bursts into action. The warhammer is unleased in a mighty toss that sends the fabled weapon hurtling end over end past his opponent and into the air some hundred yards away from the battle scene. Continuing with his momentum, Gunnar knows the spellblade has been targeting his wounded leg, and thus answered Samir's attack by swiftly sliding his left arm in between himself and the avian's phychic assault. The heavily armoured sleeve, made by the preklek invaders that have once again returned to the lands meets the mental energy unleashed by Samir, the strange alien metal seeming to bend to the magical energy and responding by shattering outward, sending shards of the jagged metal straight for the avian who is at such a close range that evading would be near impossible. But this action has not left Gunnar unhindered. His left arm is broken in responce to the force of the mental energy exploding, a roar of agaony erupting forth from Gunnar's thick, parched lips and echoing deep into southern Sage forests, birds leaping into flight out of fear in responce. The massive warrior falls to his side in pain, rage filling his form and causing the Standard Bearer to fly into a frenzy of pure hatred, which fills the giant with enough power to unleash his final assault upon Samir. His warhammer in brought forth in a blinding barrage of vicious assaults, the giant weapon aimed to smash the avian, whose fate from the explosion still remains unknown, into nothing more than a pile of flesh and bone. His visioin a blur from the pain and the rage, Gunnar simply swings his chosen weapon with legendary strength in a last ditch effort to rid himself of this foul stranger, the pain of his shattered arm, as well as the deep gash in his right leg, all fueling the furious attack that the frost giant unleashes upon the avian known as Samir...

Gunnar oocly knows what he did! Sorry! Picked the baby up mid way, he threw the hammer, with the intent of having it come back, like a boomarang. Sorry, half here right now. Baby is my main focus.

Samir is completely baffled as the massive giant somehow maneuvers a hand between his legs and without warning the Avian's own attack seems to have been turned back upon him. With a half moments notice Samir tries to throw up a mental wall by sending a cascade of mental power bursting from his own body, yet it fails to block the bulk of shrapnel which explodes toward him. Numerous small bits of metal pierce through his un-armored chest and rip apart soft flesh, tear holes in lungs, and puncture organs. Yet Samir notices none of these things, his pain response still completely severed by the power of his own mind. Reacting rather than planning the Avian spins round haphazardly and dives away moments before a large warhammer comes crashing to earth in search of his destruction. Bits of rock and ground fly up and knock Samir sprawling, but still the Avian does not stop fleeing. He scrambles on hands and knees, fighting up to his feet and making another frantic dive followed by a roll which brings him just barely out of Gunnar's range as the Giant throws his hammer once more. Without wasting time Samir starts sprinting full out, and dives forward letting his wings force him aloft as he starts speeding away through the air. Feathers are lost and trail behind him, leaving dots of black that reveal his newly held location in the upper branches of a tree not far away where he waits observantly for his time to strike once more.
