Training Area

To one unfamiliar with combat, this entire area might appear to be in complete disarray. Training dummies are lined up, painted with targets for a group of archers to practice with. Some more of the dummies can be seen in a large pile, torn apart with their stuffing peeking out of the fabric. The clash of swords echoes throughout, as avian soldiers being monitored by their higher ranked leaders quietly observe. Warriors that have taken the magical route can be seen with dummies given life through enchantments, firing projectiles of various elements at their once inanimate enemy. Groups of heavily armed soldiers march around a track in formation, the gleam of their polished titanium armor shining with brilliance. None of the men here appear to notice that you’re watching, a clear indication at how disciplined Schezerade’s army is.

16:40:29 Blut was here for a while as he stood looking down on his previous opponent. Blut held a new katana nothing special at all made out of steel. However due to the assassins use of small blades he was a little out of practice and he was aware that even the smallest slip up could result in death. Blut was now here as he trained with soilders who belived he wanted to join their ranks. Blut left behind his hidden weaponry but his daggers remained hidden up his sleeves along with his sword snapping gauntlets. He had leather armour equiped along with a black cloak as he returned to his end of the ring waiting for the next challenger.

16:45:46 Kanna stood her ground at the ominous man before her. By all means, he seemed human, but the traces of magic in her blood insisted otherwise. If she was going to make it in the tournament, she had to learn to fight, this was true, but against a strange person... With her rucksack put away, she entered the ring with her head held high. Hopefully, no onlookers would notice that her palms were sweaty, or see how her knees weak. At this point, her arms hung at her sides like spaghetti. Instead of a traditional weapon, she entered with an ordinary shamisen. The lute-like instrument stayed attached to her by a braided strap around her shoulder and back. With a deep breath, she poised her left hand to form a chord, the right lifted and ready to play.

16:50:55 Blut inspected the woman as he pointed his blade at her before sheething it once more. The man then doned a smile as innocent as could be as he walked forward before extending his hand and spoke softly "Hello let us make this a good match." Blut offered looking like he just wanted to shake hands. However if Kanna falls for this he will draw his unholy dagger and attempt to slash upwards towards her hand. The unholy dagger is cursed with a paralysis effect if she's hit with it her arm would soon be paralysed in minutes. The curse will spread throughout her body slowly leaveing her completly paralysed in a hour or so. If she refuses Blut will simply grunt and remove the wraps around his eyes before drawing his blade. He would then proceed to lung towards the bard his blade aimed at her calf to limit her movement. .

17:09:30 Kanna hesitated at the offer. She had been observing the other training sessions, and none started out with such a kind show of sportsmanship. Was it because she was a woman? The bardess extended her hand to shake, but yanked her arm back the second his other arm moved to pull the dagger. The blade shot upwards, just close enough that the wind from the force would brush against her hand, but otherwise leave it unharmed. With a bark of a nervous laugh, Kanna stumbled backwards. Something was off, after all. "Hah... That's not very nice, you know." She called as he removed the bindings. Note by note, the song began to play. It was a rather simple melody at first, but it soon picked up in tempo and complexity. She sidestepped away from the blade's impact, maintaining the melody but giving a soft sound of pain as the blade did cut at the side of her calf. So long as the song remained uninterrupted, the spell cast from the song would start forming a pressure in Blut's head, increasing with every stanza and soon becoming coupled with a sharp grating sound that would soon be unbearable.

17:19:23 Blut grasped his head at the sound of the music his eyes darted around looking at each sound. He could see it he could see the magic. The sound was graiting at his insides as he put two fingers on his blade and moved them along it. The blade would start to glow a faint crimson before she sheethed it again. Blut would begin a mad dash towards the woman air rushed by him moveing at speeds comparable to a elf. When he was around 3 feet near the woman he would step forward. The blade clinked as Blut pushed it out of it's sheeth with a thumb and a loud clack as he grasped it with his right hand. With a twist of his body and a pull of his hand the blade would fly out the sheeth at remarkable speeds. Moveing close to the speed of a arrow as Bluts body turned with a fast diagional slash aimed at the instrement aiming to cleave it straight in half. Within that moment another clack could be heard as Blut returned to he stance blade back in it's sheeth. Blut would take a step forward switch the side the blade was held behind his back with increadable speed before preforming the same attack this time from the right to left aimed to hit her from her injured calf to her shoulder.

17:53:06 Kanna noted the glow of the katana just before it sheathed. She was unsure of what it meant, but she hobbled backwards, attempting to put more distance between them. The movement was barely of help. Blood was quickly pooling from the wound down into her boot, making one foot heavier than the other. He started towards her, and Kanna stopped mid-strum and mild-walk in shock. The unanticipated unbalance on her legs caught up to her and she fell backwards. He could still move...! It was the only thought she could manage before her opponent was in front of her. Before she could make any movement to dodge, her shamisen was destroyed, falling in two clean halves at her feet. Without it, she was limited to only three spells, but she had sworn not to use them in this continent...! Seeing him move to attack again, she shut her eyes and held her hands out, singing quickly in a foreign language. Just before the katana made impact, a tangle of thick brambles broke through the stone ground, shooting up and around Kanna in a small shield of a dome. She lay on her stomach, trembling. If she used /that/ song, it would surely kill him... No, absolutely not. That only left her with the song of rest. "All my life, so many times, I had dreams that I could fly." She began to sing, softly at first, then more confidently. Anyone within hearing range would find themselves overwhelmed by a wave of fatigue. "Like a bird so light and free, when the world was fast asleep, soaring through the endless blue if dreams came true..." She continued to sing, keeping her ears trained in the best-case scenario that it put the swordsman to sleep.

18:05:26 Blut 's blade was enchanted with mana makeing it sharper than useual but still unrefined. The blade cut swiftly through some of the brambles as they rocketed from the ground some even manageing to scratch through the man. Blut struggled to move his blade against the thick shield of plants the blade was stuck it wouldn't move any further as Blut tried to force it forward. He could tell the difference between resistance from flesh and resistance from armour and there was a clear difference here. With Bluts wraps off he could very clearly see the plants manipulated with mana and he could see the woman behind them. A melody could be heard from behind the dom however in Bluts current state he no longer needed things like sleep now to think on it. Blut hadn't slept for weeks on end the song came to no avail fatiuge became a consept very long lost to him. Blut leaped and climbed the domb makeing alot of scrunching and snapping sounds as he moved to the top as he aimed the blade at the womans stomach. The plants protests went unheard as the man useing both hands he thrust the blade into the domb the plants. The plants could be heard snapping and breaking as the man slashed again and again into the baricade until he hit something or the woman left her shelter.

18:23:45 Kanna cursed herself as she listened to her opponent climbing the dome. If the goal was only to incapacitate, why did it feel like she was fighting for her life now? The magic flowing through the brambles allowed her just enough insight to know where his feet were. Before the sword broke through the layer, she rolled onto her side to avoid the attack. Another hit. She wrenched her eyes shut at the pain. The red line along her midsection was little more than a paper cut compared to what the assassin had in mind, but as an ordinary human, it hurt all the same. Tears pricked at her eyes as she weighed her options. She didn't want to kill him. This was just practice, wasn't it... But if she forfeited, surely she wouldn't stand a chance against a real opponent. But if the song's use was her only way to escape being maimed, then there was no other choice. When the katana came down again, she moved out of its reach and planted her foot against the dull side, kicking it into the other wall of the dome. If it worked as she intended, the katana would stay stuck just long enough for her to roll out from an opening and get to her feet. By now, she was completely disheveled compared to him, with two bloody wounds and dirt streaked across her arms and face. If she could just sing enough words to incapacitate and not kill the opponent, theoretically, it would be fine, wouldn't it.... "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." She began to sing the lullaby, keeping her gaze fixed on him. With each word sung, another root would shoot out from the ground. Instead of coming to Kanna's defense, the pointed ends were trained on Blut, ready to impale him without regard to her will. "You make me happy, when skies are gray. I only wish I could be your sunshine, when the clouds are taken away." Even if dodged, the brambles would eventually begin to surround their target, as the roots stayed in place once shooting from the ground.

18:35:18 Blut yanked at the blade when he noticed that the woman rolled from the bunker of plants. However Blut was caught of guard when the blade refused to move. He grasped the blade as he pulled however he didn't notice the thorns ready to impale him stabbing through his left shoulder. He griped his blade with his right as he gritted his teeth. He looked at the thorn he could only see the mana that coursed through it not the actual plant which was covered in blood. Blut held the blade in a inverted manner to cut it off. The end stayed in his shoulder causeing Blut to turn to see the various mana spikes fly towards him. The mana used to direct the roots flew just a second or two faster then the actual root as Blut jumped back as the roots flew past his face cutting it. Pain swelled as he ducked and weaved under these roots as he cut one after the other in a flurry of blood steel and plants. He wasn't fast enough to dodge all of them as a few found home in his body. Soon enough the area around him was covered with roots unable to successfully suround him without getting hacked in two but he was fast enough to sever them from their vines.. The smell of blood and cut grass started to fill the air as bloody spires could be seen in Bluts body. It was now a battle of attrition would Blut manage to keep up the defense until kanna ran out of magic or would he succumb to natures onslaught.

OOC : Kanna is unanimously declared the winner of the practice Duel!

Kanna took a deep breath to repeat the verse, and found herself unable to continue. The force of the magic had used up the last of her stamina, but just in time, as Blut was now immobile and the sword at some point having been separated from him. However, he was very much alive in the web of branches, and none of the wounds were particularly life-threatening. With a huff, she fell to her knees, then onto her side, letting her cheek rest against the cold stone. The branches from both attacks slowly receded back into the ground, freeing the assassin from his bindings. The avian trainees above had even stopped their practice to watch, leaving the training area almost deafeningly silent. "Did I win..." Kanna asked before forcing herself to roll onto her back, gasping to catch her breath. "I just replaced that shamisen too…”
