Originally just mundane goggles with black leather straps and tinted lenses used to protect the changeling Quintessa's eyes from sunlight, snow, and sand. Over time, Quintessa began to toy with the protective eyewear, etching runes into the leather and weaving her own magic within them.

History:

What was once just experimental protective eyewear has become part of Quintessa’s standard gear, and she has even created a copy-cat version for her friend and mentor Magik. The magical lenses of these goggles protect her sensitive eyes from light-magic and heat, from the sand and sun of the desert, the icy wind of the north, and even allow her to read magical imprints left over by spells and curses cast by others. They have become so important to her that the changeling never leaves home without them.
