- Crystal dragon physiology can be rather difficult to pinpoint. The first and most obvious feature is that of their hide; a substance of crystalline appearance which, although softer than most other dragon scales, holds the unique characteristic of being able to absorb most magical spells. For example, a direct attack with a conjured fire-bolt would do nothing, while a fire-bolt that is simply manipulated fire would still possess the chance to do damage. This is akin to the abilities of an Anti-Mage, which these dragons cannot be struck due to the absorption of magic that is part of their genetic makeup. Crystal dragons tend to be quite large in both size and weight, which often gives the false illusion of physical ability. Though the crystalline scales making up their form are brittle when hit with non-magical attacks, their ability to quickly regrow their broken scales and their dexterity more than compensates for this loss and makes them fierce opponents.
It must be distinguished that crystal dragons encountered as enemies roaming the wilds have become beasts, driven mad by years of hardship. They hunt and kill at a whim and barely have any skills of communication. Beastly dragons cannot be trusted or reasoned with; trying to talk to them is the same as talking to any other unintelligent creature.
