The tangle of lawlessness that has fallen upon Cenril after successive attacks has created the perfect breeding ground for numerous criminal groups to find their foothold. Byechni has been one of these. Originally a small time single-ship operation, they have since expanded to take over the smuggling operations of numerous small gangs in the slums. Due to the expensive cuts taken by the bigger dockside groups, the cost of beginning operation can often be prohibitive. By making a trade deal with caravanserai and use of a small, hidden cove near Cenril, Byechni have been able to offer services for smaller smuggling operations for a much reduced cost. The caravanserai take their own cut, of course, for the use of their distribution and delivery contracts, and everyone profits.

In order to keep the dockside lords and other authorities from becoming suspicious, Byechni have maintained contacts within the portside customs office to keep the paper trail and odd shipping routes appearing legitimate. They are not a violent group by nature, and make use of the occasional miserable but expensive run of human trafficking via traditional means in order to maintain an appearance that they are struggling to get by via the status quo.

In this way they have managed to cut out the dockside authorities in smuggling, and their subsequent modest wealth has encouraged them to attempt to begin to sabotage these other groups still further in order to increase their own profit.

There have been rumors of a connection with the Church, and combined with recent and strange events that have been possibly traced back to the Byechni it would appear there are wheels in motion for something strange.
