Arc:Rynvalian War

From HollowWiki

Intro

The war of Rynvale Island has boiled over, sprawling throughout the countryside and into the waters that surrouned the island. Heeding the call to restore the rightful owners of the majestical city-proper, The Fold, lead by Arien, a high-elven paladin, have taken an aggressive stance to the Empire of Archmosia, lead by the Parasite of Lithrydel, Vuryal.

The Empire of Archmosia, now under the name The Resurrected, has recently completed an offensive against the city-proper, taking it and claiming it now as an annexed portion of the Empire. The last piece of the puzzle, the entire island now falls under the ambitious and power hungry chronomancer and his allies.

The Stakes

The high risk stakes at play are as follows:

  • If The Fold defeats The Resurrected, they will have achieved the liberation of the city-proper, pushing the Empire out of the boundaries of the city-proper entirely, leaving the city-proper once more to be guided and lead by the High Elven watchers.
  • If The Resurrected defeats The Fold, The Fold will be forced into an unconditional surrender, no longer able to rebel against the advances of the Empire of Archmosia. Any clan members of The Fold found in violation of the terms of surrender will be forced to defend themselves to the death.

The Rules of Warfare

The rules of this war are simple:

  • A series of five (5) duels shall take place in the following formats:
    • Four (4) duels shall consist of a 1v1 RP duel, with one of the four consisting of leader v leader.
    • The fifth duel shall consist of a 2v2 RP duel.
    • A final melee RP battle will take place after the outcome has been determined, allowing the victor to show a victory on the field of battle at the end of the event.
    • All duels, sans the final RP battle, shall be judged.
    • All combatants must be pre-selected, sans for the final melee RP battle.
    • No warrior can compete more than once in the judged duels, unless both leaders agree to allow a combatant to compete in a 1v1 and then the 2v2.

Outcome

The Empire emerges victorious, after winning four of the five battles. The Fold withdraws from all present and future hostilities against the Empire, on pain of death. See below.

Vornir stands before the governor's manor, towering above the buildings. He is resplendant in his battle gear, seeming well bandaged from his recent fighting. His axe lies bared in his hand as he searches the street, waiting.

Gunnar stands before his people's champion, his fabled warhammer held within his powerful grasp as he awaits for the events to unfold with his brother-in-arms.

Arien approached the military tent that had been set up outside the governors mansion, her emerald gaze flitting with some measure of regret around the lush environs that had one been the domain of a freewilled people. She had failed her kin-and now would live with the price. A soft sigh escaped, before spine straightened and head was raised as she took the final steps that would bring her into the encampment, and the presence of the captain chosen to represent the would be emperor this night. There would be little to stop him now. She stood before the male, a glance spared for the kinsman who stood at his side, beginning to work gauntlets off pale hands. She expected there would be documents to be signed this night. "Shall we get this over with then? What are his terms?" The voice of the female rippled cool and melodic into the night atmosphere, as she awaited the giant's response.

Vornir does indeed have documents, already pre-signed by the Emperor. These he holds out upon a thin, wooden board, the whole affair looking comically small in his massive hands. "The Emperor's terms are as such: The Fold swears by their lives, and by whatever god or gods they and their leader hold holy, that they will withdraw from all hostilities against the Empire, and will never again enter into hostility against the Empire. Any current members of the Fold and any former members of the Fold found to be doing so, either with the Fold's permission or otherwise, will be forced into a fight to the death. This agreement is to be signed by Arien, the known leader of the Fold, on behalf of all the Fold's members, present and future, and all those who have been in the Fold during the time of this war."

Valiana takes humbled strides towards the meeting which would mark the end of this war. The Half-Silver's orbs scan the ground regretfully, seeming to look for the answer to the guilt built inside her. Hoping she is not too late for the meeting, the Elven woman pushes into the military tent, a sobered voice calling out to her clan leader. "Forgive me, m'lady.."

Gunnar stands simply as a stalwart sentinel for the mighty Vornir as he presides over the paladin's surrender. His massive warhammer is held at the ready should these proceedings turn hostile.

Zeneth quite literally pops up out of nowhere -- or rather, falls out of nowhere -- as she lands lightly upon the ground beside Vornir. Upon noticing her close proximity to the huge man, the small Avian skitters back a few feet, meeting Arien's gave for a brief moment before turning attentions to the many small burns marring her milky skin.

Valiana whispered something to Arien.

Arien reaches for the documents extended to her, sparing a warm glance for her kinsman newly arrived. "You are not late, Val, and need not apologize. It is enough that you are hear to bear witness to the act, and to be a support." Emerald gaze turns to the document, skimming its contents, a rueful smile at its thoroughness tugging at the corners of her lips. "One would almost think..that Vuryal did not trust me.." The murmur slipped past pale lips as she reached for the quill to etch her signature to the document before handing it over to the giant once more. "The Fold, as an organization this day ceases its hostilities against the Empire-but I bid you deliver this word to your Lord. Every organization is made up of individuals, with free will, and I do not break the will of my own. There may be those prepared to face death for what they believe worth fighting for-it will not be my place to stop them should they make that choice."

Vornir takes the parchment once more, squints at it to make sure it is, in fact, signed, then nods. "Very well. Just be sure that they know what end lies in store for them. Good evening to you, Arien of the Fold. I do not think we will be having a second meeting, unless it is regarding punishments." He turns to his standard-bearer, and hands him the document. "Gunnar! Take this to the Emperor, and do not let it leave your sight before then. I trust you, most of all, and as such, I will have you with me in this Empire. Be sure to mention that to the Emperor, when you deliver this to him."

Gunnar takes in hand the important documents, placing them neatly within a pocket secured behind the battle-worn breastplate that adorns his massive frame. " Indeed cousin! I shall ensure that the emperor recieves this post-haste!" And with this the frost giant is off, a final bow given to all present as he begins the long trek back inland.
