Legally Alting

If you wake up one morning and decide you want a change from your main character, you can't just make another. This is called alting, and will result in you being punished. If however, you feel that you need an alt, and by getting one you could "set up a really cool story", then you need to go through some proper channels to get it approved. Please be aware, that the alt will not be approved overnight, it could take several weeks for the admin to get around to it, but be aware they will get around to it eventually.
So, the proceedure. You need to Hmail each admin of the advisory council. At the moment, Ryeanna and Vgfh are the two acting advisory members, and it's these two you need to hmail (information correct as of 30th September). To the advisory council you need to send the following: 1000 words explaining why the alt is needed, why your main character can't be used, how it will benefit Hollow as a whole, intended timeframe for use of the alt, and intended plot arc.
If the admins agree this is a good idea, they will approve your alt, if not, it will be denied. Why 1000 words? 1000 words was put in place to stop timewasters applying. Some people had been getting alts for the sole purpose of having two characters, so it was decided the alt requesting process should require some effort. This stopped many timewasters as they couldn't be bothered to do the initial request.
Once you have an alt, you have approval for that character and your current main character only. What this means is that you can't start off with Jim, request approval for Ben, delete Jim, and create Jerry. As soon as you delete Jim, Ben would become your main character, and your alt approval would expire, meaning any further characters would require a new alt request.
The long and short of it is this. An alt approval covers both your characters, your first and your requested alt. These two characters can not change. If they do, the approval is removed, and the character you're left with is the only character you can play with unless further approval is gained.
